Will a canon 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens work on a nikon d3100?

I have a nikon d3100, and was looking into buying a pancake lens. I've read many positive reviews for the canon 40mm. I just want to make sure it's compatible with my nikon camera. Thanks

New Nikon Camera Help?

I'm new with DSLRS so bare with me.
Okay, so I got a Nikon D70s. I put the battery in (fully charged), put the compact flash card in and connected the lens but it's not letting me take pictures. When I look through the view finder and press the shutter down halfway the circle in the viewfinder turns red but when I press the shutter button down all the way nothing happens. I've already formatted the flash card. Any ideas?

Tips for photographing indoor volleyball game?

I was assigned to take photos of a volleyball game at my college. It was held indoors in the gym with florescent lights. I had some trouble with this because everything moves so fast and the lighting situation is less than ideal. I didn't use flash because it was considered distracting. I tried many shooting modes, in shutter priority and in program, but I just couldn't seem to get it right. The photos turned out dark and blurry. I know I need a faster shutter speed, but it wasn't possible with the low light. All I could think of was to bump up the ISO, but that made my images very grainy. I got a few decent shots that I am able to use, but I was disappointed in most of the other ones.

I have a Nikon D80 camera. I'm still learning about photography, so any advice for handling this tricky situation would be greatly appreciated.

here is what i am wondering, could my Nikon D7100 take a pic like the one attached or would a faster more expensive model be required?
my brother is in the Navy and i may be able to be on board ship when they are on maneuvers
he may be able to pull some strings so i can fire some shots like this (fingers crossed) but i am wondering if the D7100 is good enough for a pic like this
