Flash For Nikon Camera?

I' ve just recently got my first digital camera, a second hand Nikon D80, the camera came without a flash. From my days using a film camera I have a Canon Speedlite 177A.

My question is this, will the Speedlite work on the Nikon and do the older flashes designed for film cameras work on DSLR?

If the Speedlite won't do the business any recommondations as to a decent flash for what I know is a pretty dated camera?

Added (1). I agree with the pop up flash but there are many occasions when the pop up would just not be good enough. I also want to build up a small kit

Has the Nikon D7000 been discontinued?

Just wondering because at B&H's website if i search "Nikon D7000 Body" it says this model has been discontinued and they show me a Nikon D7100

Nikon D5100 won't format memory card?

My camera has been giving me error messages and not reading a single card for months now. I've recently learned it needs a firmware update. I have the update downloaded, and the card will read in my computer and I can transfer the firmware update but every card I have comes up with "card is not formatted, format card" when put in to my camera. I have gone to the menu, formatted the card, it will say format is complete, and as soon as I exit out of that menu it says "card is not formatted, format card" again. I've tried to format it with my Mac's disk utility and that didn't work, either. I have no idea what to do, I need my camera to work again but none of the instructions anyone has given me is working, and I know it needs the firmware update. Should I just send it to Nikon to be repaired or is there ANYTHING else I can do?

Why my Nikon doesnt auto focus anymore?

Hi,
I have a problem with my nikon D5200,it doesnt auto focus anymore,with a day ago it was just fine and worked perfectly and now it doesnt even show those little squares when you look into the ocular, it doesnt make them red as the focus is bad or something. It just died.
The manual focus works good, I have to mention its new, I havent used it much…just 2-3 times,and yes I have set both lenses and camera body on autofocus mode…
A few days ago I saw some dirt on it (inside the camera body) and Ive cleaned it gently, I dont know if that could cause such a thing…

How to safely clean syrup off a camera?

I have a Nikon 1 and was carrying it in my bag along with some breakfast and my syrup went through the burger king bag and got it all over the camera, the camera is fine and i cleaned it up pretty good but it got inside the buttons and its sticky and dry, i tried a wet tooth pick but it didnt work, and no i dont have a warranty

Is it possible to mod a Nikon camera with a Canon Mount?

I want to avoid using any adapters. If its possible to replace a nikon 35mm mount with a canon 35mm mount please let me know. Thanks!

P.S of coarse then there would be software conflicts I'm assuming because the Nikon body would not know what to do with the canon lens. Of coarse you could go all Manuel. Anyways just wanted to point that out. Thanks!

My nikon d5200's flash isn't working anymore?

Okay so for starters, I'm not really a professional with cameras yet. But I'm trying my best to learn more
Anyways my camera was working perfectly well and then all of a sudden, my pictures come out really dull and the flash doesn't come on anymore on any of the modes. Not P or M or A or Portrait or anything, I thought maybe this happened because of my friends snatching the camera to see the pictures so they accidentally pressed some buttons which may have caused this. But then I searched it up and I think that means my flash is just not working because the light's burnt out? I want to make sure before I go to some specialist and repair it. So any opinions?

Nikon D3100 focus driving me nuts…how do I get it focused?

I have been trying to get the camera focused all day long and it's driving me nuts. It was absolutley perfect yesterday and now today it's off focus!

I am shooting a largish stationary subject indoors, the lighting is good. I stand about 6ft back with the use of a tripod and the subject is about 4 ft forward from the wall.

I have tried everything I can think of…also read online but with no success…so has anyone got any suggestions/tips/settings?

Aperture A
ISO 100
AFS-single servo
AF Area-single point
Metering-center weighted
shutter speed 1
Aperture 5
