So I'm trying to decide whether buying a 1.8G or 1.8D for my Nikon d3100. I know the basic differences, the 1.8 is slightly sharper, the bokeh is a bit better, the color and contrast is slightly better, it's lighter & it's compatible for autofocus with my camera. But it's at least $80 more. That's no problem for me, I'll work for it (keep in mind, I'm a 14 year old girl) but if there is no real difference, I'd rather save that money for a film camera or other things. Even though the manual on the 18-55mm lens sucks, I love manual focusing it. I prefer it way more than auto most of the time. I also used my friends Pentax & she had a 50mm lens on it & it was great & I'm pretty sure it was on manual focus. I really don't know though. I plan to upgrade my camera in the future so maybe the other lens would work on autofocus with it. Please help me~

Great Camera for taking professional pictures ie. Nature and Buildings?
I want a new life hobby and I'm really interested in photography. The problem is I have no idea how to start. I want a camera like those professional photographers who carry them everywhere strapped to there chest looking for the perfect pic lol! I'm also in high school so my budget is tight. I heard Nikon cameras were good but I have no idea so could you give me some great suggestions for cameras. Especially ones that i could take great nature photos with and sunrises and roof buildings. Also any tips on photo taking and well any beginner advice would be very appreciated! No kiddy cameras i want it to look professional but fun so i can make a portfolio. Thanks! :)

Nikon Focal Length Zoom?
Hi there,
I'm new to photography so I'm sorry for the noob question. I did some research but failed to find a solid answer.
As I understand it the higher the focal length the more zoom.
I'm currently looking at getting a new Nikon lens. I need a fairly good zoom for my uses, so I was looking at the Nikon 55-300 lens. The only thing i'm not entirely sure about is on the Nikon website it says the 55-300mm lens has 5.5x zoom, but there is also the 18-105mm lens which it says has 5.8x zoom.
Can somebody please explain this to me?
Thank you :3

Is it okay to use my DSLR Nikon on a airplane?
So i love taking photos (even if its a couple) and videos as well.
im wanting to do sort of a music video with my DSLR like parts of being in the airplane (like showing out the window) and then the rest for my trip.
Im going to be on southwest.
or when will it be "okay" to use it? i know when they show you the safety video and when they mention to turn off all electronics is when not to use it but is any other time good? anyone use their DSLR on a plane by southwest? any trouble?
this is probably the last and only trip i'll have for a long time and so thats why im asking cause i'd love to make a music video showing my trip.
honest and helpful answers.

What camera should I upgrade to after owning the canon xsi?
I bought the xsi when I was in grade 8, which was four years ago. I am now looking to buy a nikon because I personally like them much more, my grandfather gave me his F-801s film camera and an AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 2.8 D and I have used his D500 many times. He also has several lenses so I could borrow them whenever. I love doing macro and landscapes, people pictures don't interest me too much. I want to start doing more star trails and long exposures, I will also be doing a semester abroad in either New Zealand or Australia in university. I was looking at the D7100 or D5200, I would love to get a full frame camera but I definitely do not have the money for that considering I am going to university next year. I would be getting the body only, as I want to get a 50mm prime lens instead of the kit lens. Which camera out of these two and why, or a different Nikon? And what lenses would be best to look into? My grandfather already has the AF-S 18-300mm 3.5-5.6G, AF Micro 105mm 2.8 and a 24mm 2.8 D. Thanks in advance! (and I have about $1400 to spend but nothing more than that for now)
Added (1). I also will be shooting RAW and want to be able to print large pictures to hang up.

ND Filters and lenses for Nikon D7000?
I'm an amateur photographer, and fairly new to it. I'm not amazing at it, but my friends and family have told me that my that my photos are quite good blah blah blah, basically I just really enjoy it. I'm using a Nikon D7000 with an 18-105 lens, and was wondering what other gear is there available to me?
I like shooting shots of a lot of things, though not really of people and faces, but nature, landscapes, I like doing closeups too, of flowers and stuff. I've recently been doing some "low key" photography, which is great, but I don't own an off camera flash so they're not as effective as I want. Also, I love doing long exposure photos of cars and traffic, but I can't really do it during the day as I don't own a ND filter. What types of lenses should I consider purchasing for this type of photography? Or will the one I have currently be enough?
I have a couple more questions: How much does a ND filter cost, and what strength one should I purchase? Is it worth getting an off camera flash and remote for my camera, how much is a decent tripod, and most importantly, is this equipment going to help me with the type of photos I'm interested in taking?
I'm sorry if I'm a little vague with details, but I'm new to this and still learning, so forgive me. One last thing I would like to know, is do you prefer Nikon or Canon, and why?
Thanks for any help guys
