What are some good, low-budget telescopes for astrophotography?

I'm looking at getting a telescope so I can do some astrophotography with my DSLR. But I'm really stumped on what I should get. I'd like to get a GoTo Telescope, which tracks and finds objects for you so you don't have to manually find it yourself. I'd like something that would be able to capture planets of our solar system, nebulas, and galaxies. It must be able to support the weight of my DSLR, which is a Nikon D800. I do not want to spend a bunch of money on a telescope, so I'm looking at cheaper options. I want to make sure that I enjoy it and/or can figure out how to do it before dropping money on a nice, more expensive telescope. I'd prefer not to spend more than $500.

I have been looking at this telescope. Any opinions on it?

I know very little about telescopes so any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Looking for a nice 300mm lens for Nikon D5300?

I have a Nikon D5300, I currently have a Sigma 300mm lens with macro, and the quality on it just doesn't seem the best it is also very annoying when using the autofocus as it is very noisy. I want a better quality 300mm lens for a reasonable price (lower than $500 if possible). I'll be using this lens to take pictures of birds so let me know of other lenses you might recommend for such as well. Thanks!

My MacBook Pro doesn't recognize my Nikon D300?

I own a 2008 model of the Macbook Pro and it does not recognize my Nikon D300 camera when I plug it in, and I do not know why.

I had this laptop while in my 2 years of college and never had this problem, i never used actual card readers I was always able to plug the USB cable into my laptop and it would open it up just like any USB you plug in. Recently I tried to plug it in, after not doing so for a while and it won't open or recognize that anything is even plugged in. No lights fash, it doesn't attempt to open my camera file. Best Camera for Real Estate Agent?

I got my license in 2004 and this was my first camera: https://www.dpreview.com/products/fujifilm/compacts/fuji_finepixe500z

The 28mm wide angle was pretty nice. In those days, using a monopod and slave flash, my photos were better than most agents.

By early 2012, it wasn't cutting it anymore. I purchased a new camera that I still use today:
https://www.dpreview.com/products/panasonic/compacts/panasonic_dmcfz150
The 25mm has been a big help. I started shooting in RAW format and processing in Silkypix that comes with the camera and PaintShop Pro X3. Today same camera, but upgraded to PSP X7 a while back.

The camera is still good, but maybe I'm needing more. Back in 2012, I was still getting listings under $300k. Today, that's low average. I just paid a professional $600 to photography my first $999k listing. I'm NOT happy with the photos at all. He used a Nikon D3300 SLR.

I'm looking at Nikon D5600 body and this lens.
https://www.dpreview.com/products/tokina/lenses/tokina_at-x_11-20_2p8_pro_dx

I want to start shooting more HDR and get a panoramic mount that will allow me to stitch multiple frames together.

Am I under buying? Will I get 6 years out of this rig? Thanks.

Is a DSLR (Nikon D750) camera really that much better than the iphoneX? Is it worth it?

Looking to buy the D750 camera by Nikon but keep second guessing myself if it's worth it. Why is the Canon Dslrs so much better at video? Focus is so cinematic compare to Nikon

Nikon camera D5300 kit lens making a noise while taking pictures? And it's not the auto focusing noise

I have the 18-55 kit lens… I tired taking 2 or 3 second long exposure pictures and the lens make a noise. I turned if VR to if it was that but no. Then I turn the auto focusing off still the noise is there. I took the lens off then just use the camera to pressing the shutter button. No noise so it is the lens.

Why would it make noise even when at manual focus. When ever I read the shutter button this noise start from the lens?

Could it be lens motors gone bad?

Will I have a problem with 50mm D lens mounted on Nikon D3400?

I'm a beginner with photography and started only earlier this year. Like most, I started with the kit lens that came with the camera body.

Recently I've been interested in buying a prime lens. The most affordable one I've been seeing in malls is the 50mm Nikkor prime lens with f/1.8. My problem is that it's a D lens and I've read that D lens won't work with the D3400 because the body has no auto focusing motor or something like that.

Is this the only problem that I will encounter? I read that I could still shoot in manual mode, which is fine because that's the only mode I shoot with. I would just like to clarify if this is the only thing I should be worried about. I'm still unfamiliar with the 50mm lens body as of now but I'll get through that once I play with it. Any input is appreciated.

Could this be an issue with my scope?

I recently bought a Ruger Ultralight .308, it came with an older 3x-9x Bushnell Banner. I was at 25 yards on a stable bench and I could barely get it on the paper. I got it pretty close so I go back to 50 and its completely off the paper. Go back to 25, can't even touch the paper, It won't stop shooting left no matter where I'm and I crank it way to the right, it will make an amazing shot, next shoot, can't touch the paper. Looked the scope up and its only about 40 USD. I'm getting a new Nikon Prostaff 4x-12x anyway but is this a problem with my scope or rifle?

I think my shot is gone?

Ok. I don't know why this happened, but yea. I was using my film camera, Nikon Fe2. The scene had great lighting, a cute girl with an interesting pose and perfect background. The whole thing was simply stunning. I "took" the shot and was super happy as it can contribute to my portfolio. But…, after leaving the scene, I realised the film was still on the first dot, not on number "1"yet. Is there a way to save the shot? Or is it gone just like that? Is there a Speedbooster Alternative for Nikon Lenses (active mount if possible)?

I'm looking for a more affordable (than a Metaabones) speed booster for my nice collection of Nikon lenses that I have. What brands are recommended?
I know Metabones makes an active mount (autofocus/stabilization) but not one for the Nikon. Is there an active mount available for the Nikon F mount?

I only have cheaper, kit lenses for Canon and it would not be worth purchasing a speed booster for them.

Vintage lenses on a modern Nikon?

I own a Nikon D3300 and have been experimenting with using older lenses. I have noticed that the camera responds differently to the lighting when using these older manual lenses. The biggest factor so far appears to be the ISO, by increasing it I have been able to get better exposures. I'm curious as to why this would be the case compared to when I use the kit lense.

How to charge EN EL-15 external charger for Nikon D7000 digital camera?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure this out. I'm loaning a camera from my college for the photography class I'm in the camera is a Nikon D7000 with 55-200 mm lens. Since I'm loaning it, it didn't come with a freaking manual. It also came with an external battery thing that locks onto the bottom of the camera. It's supposed to be able to come out & you plug it into the wall to charge the battery & put it back in. But the problem is it's supposed to only take 2 hours to charge & the light becomes solid. I plugged it in before I went to bed last night & it was still blinking this morning. I slept for longer than 2 hours. Is something wrong with it? Please help! If a picture is needed so you can see what mine looks like I will supply one. I just need help with this.

I Already own the Nikon D750, and although I love the camera I'm very intrigued by the upgrades of the new D850.

Is it worth buying the Canon T5i for $599?

I've been interested in purchasing my first DSLR camera. I didn't want to start off with an entry-level camera which was why I chose this camera, also because it's a good deal. It's usually $929 in Canada, the features and image quality on this thing look pretty good. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's 18 megapixels and doesn't include wifi or bluetooth. I was also considering the Nikon D5300 which is 24 megapixels and includes wifi and bluetooth, but it's an extra $200. Other cameras I've considered were the Nikon D3400, D5600 and the Canon T7i. Professional photographers please help, thanks!

Creating a diy polymer lens filter for the solar eclipse and I want to make sure I'm not damaging my dslr light sensor

Question:
I was wondering if using this film would I need to use a certain f/stop or ISO to ensure the sensor is not damaged while shooting. Would simply using this film would prevent this from happening?

Details:
Recently bought a Nikon D3300, this would be my first time owning a DSLR. I have taken classes during high school and I know how to use and take care of a camera (no concern there).

There's a solar eclipse happening this weekend and I want to be able to take images of the event. I understand that you can damage the light sensor inside the camera if pointed directly at the sun. I have seen lens that you can use and apply, but unfortunately would not deliver in time for my trip ( poor planing/ buying the camera was unexpected and not originally intended for this). My friend purchased this polymer film (he gave me the link below) that is suppose to be used for telescopes and was kind enough to give me some.

This would be my first time attempting to take pictures of the sun and would like to preserve the quality of this camera to the best of my ability.

I'm typically resourceful when researching this information online but l was unable to find specifics to ease my concern. Any personal experience / feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Polymer for diy solar eclipse filter?

Recently bought a Nikon d3300 to get back into photography (took classes in hs but never owned my own camera, I know how to work and take care of a DSLR). There's a solar eclipse this weekend and I purchased a polymer sheet to create a filter (link below). I wanted to make sure that I'm not damaging the light sensor inside the camera. Would having the f/ stop or ISO higher/ wider appature cause damage even with using this filter?

I typically do not ask questions because most the time there would be a comprehensive article regarding this, but I was unable to locate this information online. Also, me owning my first dslr /would be my first attempt at taking photos of the sun I would like to persevere the quality of this camera as long as possible. 70-200 2.8 on aps-c (Nikon)?

Is 70-200 f2.8 too long of a lens for outdoor potraits?

I'm currently looking for a lens for my crop sensor nikon body to get a "dreamy" potrait (lots of blur)

Comments on this telescope please?

I'm interested in getting an entry level telescope with the primary goals of lunar and planetary viewing (as opposed to deep space objects). I have a good bit of experience with photography and microscopy. The Celestron Advanced VX 8" EdgeHD appears to be about the level that I'm looking for with a decent, but not huge aperture, Go To system, and reasonable portability.

I have both Nikon and Sony full frame cameras for image capture.

Would you recommend a different scope (somewhere near this price point)?

What accessories do you consider indispensible?

I plan to use the scope to observe the eclipse. Aside from the necessary neutral density filter and suitable eye protection for myself, is there anything else I would need?

Photography Enthusiasts! Nikon or Canon?

More specifically, I'm stuck between the Canon EOS 80D and the NIKON D7500. These cameras are basically equal, with a few twerks here and there.

As far as my personal uses, I d be using it for still images, of course, but video is a big priority for me, as that s more the direction I'm currently exploring. The Nikon as 4k video recording capability, and the Canon has 1080p 60fps recording capability. Canon also has a dual pixel AF that has been rated so highly that some say it's more worth having over the 4k capability of the Nikon. So I might be leaning more towards the Canon, until I weigh the still image quality. I like the image quality and more "light and airy" look that the Nikon gives. Of course I could correct any drab or grey photos, but I don't want to have to constantly edit thousands of photos to achive the look I could possibly naturally get from the Nikon.

Keep in mind that I haven't actually personally tested each camera and am just making all assumptions off of the research I've done on the specs, and what I've seen from photo and video samples from each camera. In reality, I think either of these cameras would be an excellent choice, but I'm just trying to weigh the different specs here. Is the Canon dual pixel AF in video recording more worth having than 4k capability?

Anyone have any one of these cameras that could possibly add some insight? Or have a close model to one of these cameras even that you could tell me your experience with?

Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro DSLR camera lens won't focus when set to Macro mode?

I have a Nikon D5300 camera and got this lens. No matter what I seem to try it just won't focus when set in Macro mode. The box the lens came in says that it is compatible with D5300, Df. So I'm not sure why it's not working. We ordered in a big bundle from Altura Photo off of Amazon. I consider myself an amateur photographer right now so maybe I'm just missing something. Please let me know your insight into this issue. Thanks!

Nikon DSLR purchase?

I'm buying a Nikon d7200, and I'm unsure of what to get. There are grey market cameras, which I don't want, and sketchy dealers. I want a good new or used, manufacturer refurbished even, d7200. Which dealers are legit and sell USA d7200's, and should I bite the bullet and spend 1,300 for a new one, or get a refurbished for 200 dollars less. Again, I want a legit USA camera, and not an international version.

I have owned a Nikon D50 and Canon Rebel T1i and looking to upgrade. I'm looking at the Nikon D5600 and the Canon Rebel T7i - 1
Added (1). I put more emphasis on stills, I rarely do video. The touchscreen feature isn't a pro or a con for me. I care more about performance. The Nikon bundle I'm looking at is cheaper, includes more accessories, and equipment than the Canon's, I'm leaning more towards the Nikon since I will receive more for my money. Both cameras are pretty similar but I would like to hear from more experienced photographers. Cost matters to me but I don't want to skimp and go for the cheapest for the lesser camera.

Help: Lens Autofocus Problem?

Hey I bought a 2nd hand sigma 17-50 lens from someone for my nikon d5300

However when I tried the lens on the camera there was just one problem.

When the lens is set to auto-focus, the display of the camera would focus rapidly between af-s and m. And also when i half press the shutter, the beep noise from focusing doesn't happen.

The manual mode of the camera works fine.

The internal focus is also not broken as the lens managed to auto focus for 5 seconds until it went back to the problem.

Also my other lens works with the camera just fine only this lens.

And I don't think it is the contact problem of the lens otherwise the camera wouldn't be able to control its aperture. And the camera doesn't say lens not found

The lens also has a built in auto focus motor

Nikon Camera problem! On my D5000?

So it has been getting worse and worse, I have not changed any settings at all, the ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, none of that. But most of the pictures i took were way too bright or way too dark, this happened when i accidentally dropped it (it was in a relatively protective bag) the way i try to fix this is to keep on switching from "Live View" and back. Then it would become bright again. I bet it has something to do with the mirror inside. Also, I casually get the error message saying "Press Shutter Release Button Again" or something like that. Is it really the mechanicals inside that moves the mirror faulty?

should i do this fix posted on Instructables? Or is there another way to fix it?: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-fix-Press-Shutter-Release-Button-Again-er/

hope to see an answer soon! And quick!

D800 Built-In Flash?

As much as I hate using the built-in-flash and that I have no need of flash in my photography, my friend wants me to photograph her organization's night event this Thursday outside. It will be from 8pm to 11pm and I need to know if the built-in-flash is enough to take on this.
My only question is what is the range of the built-in-flash of the Nikon D800? I checked my manual and it said "The built-in flash has a Guide Number (GN) 12/39 (m/ft, ISO 100, 20 °C/68 °F)". Does that mean its range is 39 ft away? I'm only asking because 39 ft is a long distance and I assume it would only be 10 ft away. I need to know this because I may be taking group pictures with dozens of people.

(Before you comment saying I need an external flash, I do not have time to buy one and I do not need it for my photos right now. I would rather much save my money to buy another lens haha).

Thank you so much!
