Nikon Nikkor 18-300mm OR 24-120?

Ok, so here it goes--
I have been looking to buy a second lens for a while now, and in a little bit I'm going on a cruise to Alaska. I figured I would use the trip as an incentive to actually carry out this purchase. But, now I'm facing a problem- which lens to get? I am looking at these two so far. What is your opinion on the two? which one would you buy? Could you recommend another similar lens in the price range or lower of these tow lenses. Also- if I were to get the 24-120 lens would I regret not getting the extra zoom range on both ends, especially the 120-300 gap? Thanks for the help!

Nikon D40 help (how to turn off flash in portrait mode)?

Could somebody please explain something to me. I want to set the camera to portrait, not to no flash. But I want no flash in portrait mode. Please help!

Making the next step in telephoto lenses?

I am currently using a Nikon D7000 with an 18-105 kit lens on it. I have used the 70-300VR on it many times as a close friend has one and we share lenses all the time. The problem I find is that I don't have enough reach on the 70-300. I am very into sports and nature, specifically birds, photography. I have thought about a teleconverter but I am not convinced about it yet. I am not sure what kind of budget I am looking at yet, but I have been looking at the 300, 400 primes, or the new 80-400 (possibly with a 1.4 teleconverter), or the 200-400. I know these lenses vary in price A LOT, but what are your takes on these lenses or combinations.

My only other concern is that some lenses are f/4s, so would they still work with my D7000 when combined with a 1.4x teleconverter? I know some dont autofocus at f8 on certain cameras, but would it still work? The 80-400 looks to be pretty nice considering it is fairly new, but would it still work on my D7000 with a 1.4x teleconverter? I am not really good at figuring out the aperture when combined with a teleconverter. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Is my camera broken? Heeelp?

So i was bought a nikon l810 for my birthday on the 31st of january, it was from argos but not sure if i can return it? not used it much, looked after it then I went to change the batteries and i put in old ones then suddenly the lens came halfway out about to turn on then it suddenly cut off, i put in brand new batteries and every time I turn it on the little on button lights up green for a few seconds, then nothing happens. :(

Canon EFS 70-200mm Lens?

If you dont ask you dont get, so here it goes, casually wondering if anybody has a canon efs 70-200 mm lens that they not longer want, or are willing to give away.

Currently a university student studying photography and cannot afford a lens of this quality.

Would be an incredible stroke of luck if anyone does have one? or if not a nikon/sigma lens also of the 70-200mm style.

Beginning youtuber which camcorder to buy?

I am a photographer, not a videographer. I feel inspired by the Youtubers I follow and would like to start filming for YouTube myself. I am unsure of which camera to look for because I only have a max budget of $400-500 and want to rely on eBay for deals. Ask me about cameras and I would be able to tell you stuff, but camcorders no. What's important for me is image stabilization, being able to film in progressive mode with hd support and relatively decent lower light capabilities (ie.walking through dense forest lighting conditions) or natural light indoors. Mic jack a bonus too. Any thoughts as to what might be a camera to look into. I have a nikon d300 and it doesn't shoot video… so was trying to sift through the many many offerings by canon, panasonic, and sony.
Added (1). Sony makes tones of models. I've been looking at all brands just it's overwhelming and hard to decide which is why I asked for input. 'Brand new Sony' doesn't really help my decision making process.

Nikkor 50mm f1.8g autofocus problem?

Are nikkor lenses durable? i accidentally hit it softly to the car door, then when I autofocus sometimes i hear it ticking about 3 times or more before it focuses but sometimes it doesn't tick anymore.Is there a problem whit my lens?
