I just got my Nikon D3100 in the mail today from Sears and it is factory refurbished. I carefully opened the package and such and it said to charge the battery and should take about 1 hour 30 minutes to charge. I set it up to charge and it said in the manual that a blinking light means it's charging and a solid light means it's done charging. I was only charging it for probably between 25-45 minutes (I forgot to see when I first started charging it) so then I saw after the time that it was done charging but when I put the battery in the camera it wouldn't turn on.So I figured I'd charge it some more so I put the battery to charge and the blinking light was there but it kinda quickly turned to a solid light. So I tried putting it in the camera again but it still won't turn on. I put it to charge two more times.Am I not putting the battery in correctly? I know I'm inserting it in correctly but do I need to have it like click in their to hold it in? In my camera is slides in and only stays down when I shut the tab door thing.

Best entry-mid level DSLR for my price?
So i asked for the most part the same question just the other day but im going to rephrase and sum up a little better now that im not in such a rush. I am looking for a DSLR camera entry-mid range level for 800$ or lower(must come with a lens or be cheap enough to buy the body and a lens for 800$ or less). I am to a degree looking for a perfect camera which just inst possible which maybe that's why im having a issue deciding but here are some of the "cant live without" points i want in a camera. Side flipping screen, something quick on the draw, Fair amount of lens options and good support for the camera (Don't want something that wont be supported in only a few years either by lenses or the company). The cameras ive been looking at are all about the same price but all have disadvantages if you choose one over the other. Ive been checking out the Nikon d5100, Canon t3i/t4i and the sony a65.
The sony is my first choice but the way the screen flips would be annoying for me and it seems to be slower than the others after taking pictures which isnt something i want to deal with. The nikon seems to be the best choice for me but the fact its starting to get older (Not that old) and the big fact that is has no AF motor concerns me. Having to buy the AF-S lens even if that's what i would buy normally seems as if it would be more expensive down the road and give me less lens options but maybe a AF motor in the body isn't something you need Im not sure since im still somewhat new to DSLR's. The canon seems great for video and comes with some better software than both the sony and nikon it also has a motor but comparing it to the other two for actual photography is seems to be out preformed in many ways and also the t4i in particular i hear crashes alot. I could solve all of these issues if i just went for say the nikon d5200 but i simply don't have the money. Ive tried both the nikon and the canons in the store with neither screaming at me to pick one over the other except the t4i was slow which didn't please me(But demo models always have issues so idk if its like that when actually having one). I have yet to try the sony and plan to see if they have it in store tomorrow.
Basically it comes down to this. Does a AF motor in the body matter/save you money down the road?
What has the better support (should be supported for years to come with lenses ect)?
Whats the better camera out of what i mentioned?
Any other suggestions for cameras following my price/Must haves?
Does the t4i have Crashes/freezes as ive heard/seen?
Keep in mind i want this for photo's obviously but video is something i will use from time to time.

I need a lens for city photographs. Nikon mount?
I am going to New York and wish to take the typical city pictures. I also need a new lens that helps create sharp pictures. I have a Nikon D300 and currently use a Tamron 70-200mm f/ 2.8 and a Nikon 50mm f/ 1.8. I fancy a wide angle zoom but I have no idea what to go for.It needs to be affordable but I don't really fancy going over f/2.8. I want a fast lens.
When I say affordable, I mean that I don't want to spend like £800 on a lens that Tamron sell for £200. I've had a look at the Tamron 17-50mm f/ 2.8 but there are mixed reviews on it.

I have the Gorpo Hero 3. I'm clueless on video making?
I want shoot video but is so clueless on how to do it. I have a degree in Audio engineering so this is a different hobbie for me. I have been on youtube and the web site. This is what I have to shoot movies with The Gopro Hero 3, Nikon Lpix110 which shoots in 720 dp and a ipod 4th generation. I have Sony Vegas pro 11.
Where can I go to get help. What is frames per a second and what is better wide shots or medium? What are some good setting on the Gopro? If anyone has any good info please share thank you.

Good DSLR for beginners?
Im 17 and i love photography. However i have never owned a DSLR nor used one (besides in best buy) I was wondering whats a good DSLR camera that would be good for me? I would love a cannon, because i love to shoot movies as well. I was looking at the T4i or T3i since cannon hasnt came out with a new processor i heard the camera quality is the same, just the T4i gets more FPS. On the Nikon side i was looking at the D7000. I would probably buy it used of craigslist just because of the cash i have to spend. So whats good for me? And NO i dont not want cheap crap! Im serious! Thanks everyone!

DSLR camera comparisons/suggestions?
I am currently looking into buying a DSLR camera ive got plenty of accessories like a bag tripod, ect ect. But i haven't actually bought a camera yet simply cause i cant decide which one to buy.Im going for either a nikon or a canon and i know there is alot of fanboyism out there so please before answer keep that to a minimum if possible. Now due to price restraints im going for more of a entry-mid level range and im kinda gotten myself to these two cameras but i just cant pick either one with 100% certainty.Im stuck between the nikon d5100 and the canon t3i. If one of you experts out there could tell me what are the main differences or the main drawbacks to each camera. Also will be taking classes so user friendly is nice but i suppose not a deal breaker.
Added (1). Oh, also ive gone in and held both and neither one screamed at me as i must have "This" over "This".

I'm really worried my camera is broken now cause I can never get the lens to stay on.Is this covered under warranty? I am really frustrated. Can anyone help me? Also where can I get my memory card out I forgot where I put it in?
