Is it worth the money to get a Nikon D5300 over a Nikon D3300?

I am a 14 year old boy who is just getting into photography. My dad is a Nikon shooter and he has some very nice lenses that I can use. I'm wondering if it's worth the extra couple hundred dollars to get the D5300? I like the look of the D3300 better and the layout as well. Please help! Thanks!
