A (aperture priority) and S (shutter priority) won't work on Nikon d3300?

I switch the dial and they just shows up as M (manual) and it's basically like having 3 manual modes on my mode dial. The camera is brand new why am I having this problem?

How to get this camera to charge?

I have a nikon cool pix camera but I can't seem to get the battery to charge. No matter how I put it the charger the red light doesn't change.

How long can I record on my GoPro?

I am recording my school play tomorrow and the first act is about an hour and the second is about 40 minutes so I get a break in between. Will my GoPro (First Generation) be able to record the whole thing? My Nikon stops every 20 minutes. I have a 16GB SD card so that should cover it. :(
