D800 and Meike Battery Grip?

Hello all,
Today I got my Meike Battery grip for Nikon D800 which is made of plastic. My question is that a plastic battery grip can hold both camera and lens weight which is 1.8Kg while mounting on Tripod? Actually I never used battery grip so m little bit confused whether is it safe to use grip with tripod…

Thanks

Good DSLR under £500?

My brother wants to buy a good camera to shoot concerts but he isn't really experienced and can't afford anything above £450. Been told these are good but all in £1000/$1500 range.
Any good suggestions for a DSLR not a point and shoot.
Canon EOS 5D Mk II
Canon EOS Digital Rebel Xsi-Offers 12.2 megapixels, ultra-powerful zoom; up to ISO 1600 for steady shooting in any lighting conditions, and built-in image stabilization.
Olympus E-3-Takes five pictures per second and features an enhanced 11-point autofocus system, specifically designed to lock on to any subject regardless of how much it is moving around.
Sony DSLR-A700-Features superior zoom, Dynamic Range Optimization (DRO), which enhances detail in shadows to yield balanced photos, and built-in image stabilization.
Nikon D300-Offers excellent image quality, fast continuous shutter rate; takes 6 photos per second, powerful zoom, and high-resolution LCD for easy shooting at any angle.
thank u for the good advice and not so much for the garbage

How to record audio without connecting the mic to the camera?

I am filming with a Nikon D90, and I can't input a shotgun mic into the camera directly, what is an alternative that I can do?
Is there a device that can plug into a laptop to save the audio directly? I have no problem syncing audio on to stripped footage.

Nikkor 35mm f/1.8g on a d7000?

Okay, say a 50mm is on a full frame. I know that the 35mm on a crop 1.5x is pretty much equivalent to the 50mm (52.5mm), but will it still have that kind of distorted wide angle look just because it's a 35mm, even though its field of view is equivalent?

LOOKING FOR HELP WITH LIGHTROOM or RAW software?

Presently I shoot. JPEGS straight OOC and have never delved into post processing and shooting RAW… and I'd like to, though it a tad daunting, confusing and would like some insight on where to begin. I shoot Nikon D7000, (have a wide array of primes and zooms) and have a copy of LR3 installed. I've been doing in camera PP, but thats rather limited I think. As mentioned, it seems a bit overwhelming (but I'm sure given the proper tutorial its not). I'd definitely like to shoot RAW when situation dictates and get the most out of my images. Any suggestions on where I can find an easy to understand aid for Lightroom? (or perhaps another PP program is more user friendly, one of the free ones you find online, e.g.) ..any assistance appreciated
Added (1). In response to Spencer, I have a full, non trial version of LR 3

Lens With Aperture Ring on Digital Camera?

Hi all!

I have a question. There's a lens that I want which has an aperture ring and manual focus-- that is, it will not sync up with my digital camera (I have a Nikon D5100). Since the aperture is controlled from the lens and not from the camera, will my exposure meter on the camera still stay the same? For example, suppose I set the shutter speed and ISO on the camera. If I set a small or big aperture on the lens, will the camera recognize that and accurately give me the corresponding exposure meter reading according to the state of the exposure triangle?

Is this a right time to buy a D-SLR camera?

Hi All,
I want to know if this is right time to buy DSLR camera of either Nikon (D3200 ~$599 ) or Cannon T3i ~ $599 with 1 lens. If i wait for 1-2 months, will the price go down by $100 - 150?

Thanks in advance !

Recommendations on a good SLR camera?

How's it going guys. I am currently in the process of looking for a good DSLR to get started with. I've had my eye on the Canon Rebel T4i for a long time now and I've played with it a couple times and I really like the camera. At this point I've pretty much ruled Nikon out as a possibility, just because personally I just don't like using them. But, now I've also thought about Pentax. Unfortunately I don't know nearly as much about Pentax and information doesn't seem to be as readily available for it, so I was wondering if anyone could just tell me how Pentax stacks up against the bigger, more well known names.

Are there two different lens mounting types like with Canon and Nikon?
Is image stabilization built into the body or the lens?
Durability?
Lens quality?
Ease of use?
Room to upgrade? If I buy this camera now and buy nice lenses for it then are there higher performing Pentax cameras to get later?

And whatever else y'all might deem as helpful! Thanks a lot guys! I'll really appreciate it!
Added (1). Also, if there are any other brands y'all might recommend, please tell me about them and let me know why!
