NIKON vs CANNON and what MODEL?

I know that there are decent cannon and nikon camera that take pictures and video, but which is the better brand AND model for a novice photographer / filmographer for a musical group.would be taking pictures for flyers and website, shooting video for interviews, music videos, and web eisodes.please respond with brand and model of your preference.

Nikon D5000 /D7000 portrait?

Hello, i need to upgrade my Portrait with Nikon D5000 such as using a prime lens 50mm 1.8.
Do you think i have to use better body such as Nikon D7000 which has better sensor.
Nikon D7000 now cost about $1100 but in ebay with positive rating 99.1% now cost $900 but im affraid of the increasing No.of defects and loss of reliability by buying from ebay.
Added (1). I need to get sharper images with better contrast.

What is the better camera to get?

I'm looking into getting my first "professional" camera and I'm not sure what one is better.the Nikon D3000 or the Canon Rebel t3i? In general, is nikon or canon a better camera? I'm going to be using it for photography not so much videos. Any opinions and such would be helpful. Thanks

Photography photo shoot?

Okay, well I am taking a photography class in school. For our semester project we are suppose to take 10 pictures that create a story/depict a story. I am just stuck and I don't know what to do!
For example: Baking a cake, getting ready for a dance, having a board game night
But I want to be creative with my pictures and not do something original.So any ideas?

I will be using FM2 Nikon Cameras (Older Cameras that use film spools, etc)

What macro photography lens to get?

Right im 15 and still would consider myself quite a novice in the camera department but i have a nikon D5100 and im really into macro photography and extreme close ups of things and before now I have been using macro filters that screw on which were good enough when I had my D40 but now I've upgraded im looking for a decent lens that will do the job and hopefully not be too expensive

Is this nikon lens any good?

I am looking to buy the 55-300mm Nikon Nikkor lens for my Nikon D5100.
I will mostly be using it for action shots of horses and sometimes other animals, not professionally, but i do want good, clear and un blurred pictures. But obviously need a lens with a good zoom because i can't always be as close as i need to be when photographing the animals.

Is this lens any good for this?

Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 focus confirm chip?

Hi all.

I'm looking to purchase a Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 aspherical lens for use on my D300. The lens is offered with or without a focus confirm chip.My question is, does anyone know specifically what this chip does? I know even with my ancient 50mm f/1.8 E Series Nikon lens my D300 can confirm focus. Does this chip for the Rokinon allow for that on the D300? Or does it only help to aid the camera's auto-exposure function (shutter/aperture priority modes)? I'm hoping my D300 is advanced enough to confirm focus without the chip, which I would assume is geared towards entry level cameras. Still, I'm not sure.

Any help?
Added (1). Thanks ace. Actually, the difference is about $40- I probably will end up going with the chip-inclusive version. But do you think the D300 will be able to confirm focus (green dot in bottom corner of viewfinder) without the chip? If so, I'd just as soon get it without the chip…

How to photograph a chocolate shop?

My friend has asked me to help him out by photographing his chocolate shop for his website.i'm only a keen amateur at the moment.i've been asked to help him as he has been given a deadline for monday the 3rd to get the pictures to the website designer and ther's not enough time or money to get a pro in. I know the basic do's and don'ts (e.g remove clutter from the picture etc.) but i could really do with some help to give me some other ideas. He wants me to photgraph things like chocolates that are un-boxed and also boxed goods aswell.any help really apreciated!

Nikon D80 Camera Flash Fault?

Suddenly my Nikon D80 digital SLR does not do flash anymore. The flash unit is built-in. If light levels are low the flash unit pops up, and a small white light shows (this is for auto-focusing I guess). But if the shutter programme shows a flash symbol the shutter will not activate. If the shutter programme does not show a flash symbol then the shutter activates as normal. I guess the flash bulb might have burnt out, or is there a secret setting that might turn the flash back on? Many thanks.

Good lenses for taking pictures of people on Nikon d3100?

Hello. I am a beginner at photography and a couple months ago got the Nikon D3100. I really love taking pictures of people, usually waist up. Can I get a Leica adaptor?

I just bought my boyfriend the Leica 4R body for christmas. I know that Leica lenses are just as pricey as the cameras, so I was wondering where I could find an adaptor from the Leica to any lens in the nikon/cannon family. I already have another lens that I can use, I just need the adaptor!

I attached a lens my nikon d90 and i will not shoot and displays f-?

Hi, a few days ago when i was digging around i found a vivitar 1:3.8 macro lens and i attached it to my nikon d9.when i pressed the shutter button it would not shoot and it displayed f-- in the left bottom corner.i heard this came up when the lens could not communicate with the camera but this lens has not connection pins within it, so it is completely analog.Is there any setting i would need to change or anything i would need to do to make this camera shoot with this lens?

OK I am on budget but I want to buy a digital camera today for Cyber Monday. I don't want to spend more that 3, 000. I want a camera that has really good video resolution. Nikon focusing. How it works?

I have a Sigma 100-300mm f4 but it has a focusing issue (not really a problem), when focusing it flickers minutely when focusing.It causes quite a few unfocused photos when I really needed them in focus. I shoot with a Nikon D5000 and so the lens focuses with the lens focusing motor as the Nikon D5000 does not have an in built focus motor.
My question is whether if I bought a Nikon D300 (inbuilt focus motor), would the sigma lens focus better.
Does the inbuilt focus motor over ride the lens focusing motor?
