I've tried to change the settings and for some reason it will only take pictures on manual mode. Some people have told me it's locked on manual but I don't really know what that means or how to fix it. Can anyone help? I'm new to this camera, I've got it yesterday.

How to fix my Nikon lens? - 1
I have the Nikon D3000.My mom accidentally dropped the camera and now one of the flat small bars on the bottom that holds the lens to the camera broke and only half of it is left on.Is there any quick fix i can use? I'm going away in a day and I'll need to use the camera. Any advice? I'd like to avoid taking it to a repair shop.

What kind of camera should I ask for?
I want to get into photography. So I'm going to ask for a camera for the holidays. Probably either a nikon or a canon. I don''t really know anything about cameras, all i know is that i want something that takes excellent clear pictures. And one of those cameras that looks really nice and professional but handheld. I'm not exactly sure how much they go for but probably nothing really over $250.So if you could list some links and prices to cameras that are kind of what im describing or cameras that i should look for would be great, thanks!

What are the key factors in deciding what DSLR to buy?
I'm thinking of buying a nice DSLR and I need to know the main things that make a good camera. Things like megapixels I know but apart from that, what do Canon and Nikon do which are good buys?

Nice DSLR cameras for beginners?
I'm getting a DSLR tomorrow, and I have $1000 to spend. I wanted a Nikon D90 at first, but refrained from saving up to $1300. What are some nice cameras under my budget? I don't have many specific qualities I'd like, just a camera that takes nice pictures. Thanks!
Side note: I'm just going to get a camera with a kit lens. Nothing special!

Camera decision help!
Im buying my first camera, im also in high school so i have a maximum budget of 500$, so as of right now im torn between the Sony Nex 5n vs the Nikon D5100. I know the Nikon has a wider variety of lenses but does the 5n have the upper hand in low light quality? Since im a beginner which would be better suited for me ?

I'm having trouble with a photography project. The equipment I have available is a Nikon d60 with a DX Nikkor 18-55mm lens, an AF Nikkor 70-300mm lens, a tripod, and a grey card.

Nikon zoom lens with most decent bokeh?
Hi, I'm an intermediate photographer with a nikon d40 and 3 basic lenses:
*kit lens: 18-55mm
*50mm f 1.8
*70-300mm f 4
*wide angle adapter
I think despite my equipment I have taken pretty decent pictures but as I grow as a photographer, my camera doesn't fulfil all of my necessities so I'm thinking on upgrading body and get a new lens.
I'm considering:
*Body: Nikon D600 (FX)
*Lens: Nikkor 24-70mm f 2.8
As you see I need to cover up the mid range and that is why I'm considering a zoom lens with nice aperture. What I'm really concerned about is that I'm planning to get a loan for buying this new gear, I know both things will cost me around $4, 000 but I think they are worth it.
I've been checking reviews on the web and I just can't make up my mind on the zoom lens decision: Ken Rockwell says 24-70 is fine but "fairly to poor" bokeh. I know you can't get both things: zoom and great bokeh in one lens and for pretty nice bokeh i know i've got my prime lens (50mm). Still we all know I can't survive with only that lens on an event such as a wedding so it is really important for me to know which mid range zoom lens by Nikon may have a decent bokeh? Many people speak up for the obviously versatile 18-200 but I feel this one doesn't have the quality of 24-70. On the other hand I don't want to spend almost $2, 000 on something I'm not sure about so suggestions will be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Added (1). To Jim A: I totally understand and know what depth of field is, i studied photography.i know the wider the aperture, the "blurrier background" (bokeh) and the closest, the more details.these are basic concepts if i didn't know i wouldn't be calling myself an "intermediate" photographer. I'm just asking with the easiest terms which doesn't mean i don't know the technical terms. Prime lenses are fixed focal length and good bokeh is not only about opening a lens to its widest, it's also about it's own construction, ex.type of glass like nano, plastic parts or just glass.may be it sounded to you as i didn't know but i was just asking for suggestions.i didn't think i had to add all my knowledge to this question.i like to ask straight what i need, thanks anyways

Where can I get a replacement Reflex Mirror for a vintage SLR Camera?
I bought an old Nikon FG SLR camera at a local thrift store for $6.40. The body is great, the lens is still in good condition, problem is, it's missing the reflex mirror inside the camera. I know that's a crucial part of the camera and I was wondering if you can get a replacement for it. If so, where can I get one? I tried looking on Ebay and I can't seem to find any.
