Why doesn't a SDHC card in the Nikon D80 register a picture count?

The card is working, is formatted but doesn't show how many shots there are on the card.

Best Nikon lens for low light situations to use with D5100?

Hi all I was wondering about the best Nikon lens for a D5100. I heard some older lenses do not work with the auto focus on newer Nikons. Any help towards advice for the best lens to use with this camera or also an all around lens including low light motion shoots would be great. I was thinking about just getting the body instead of with the stock lens and purchasing either a new lens or second hand one.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for any help.

ONLY image quality, 'Canon sx40' vs Nikon 5200?

I am only asking as far as 'image quality', i also will NOT be buying any lenses if i buy a dslr…

I understand 'Nikon 5200' is far better overall, but its probably not for me since i wont be buying any lenses and just will stick with the original one it came with.

My question is as far as ''auto mode'' are they both identical in quality image? are they very hard to tell a difference when taking a regular picture?
Added (1). 'regular' as in normal, i guess…

ANYWAY guys, thank you so much, i have been frustrated for almost 72 hours researching on the computer for a right camera, you know what? screw everything, im getting a d5100 and i will FORCE myself to learn about dslr…

now my new question is, is this seller legit? should i trust them, they do warranties and repairing items… heres the d5100 for 440$, should i get it??? heres link… also it comes with lens
should I?

Carbon Zinc Double A batter leaked in Camera, memory card stuck?

I had cheap double a batteries in my nikon d.camera. Now my memory card is stuck in the camera, because the battery acid leaked. I know vinegar works with alkaline battery acid in cleaning. Wondering if anyone knows what works with Carbon-Zinc Battery acid, if not the same?

How to pronounce Nikon?

In the US, the "i" is pronounced like eye.
I've heard Brits pronounce it with a short "i" as in Nick-on.
I've also heard others pronounce it Nee-con.

I personally have always pronounced it with a long "i". Because I'm in the US I guess.
Who's right? What is the actual pronunciation.

Should I change to nikon or stay with canon?

Now i have a canon 7D
I am planning to sold it and buy a new camera ( because it is broken )

I know that the canon 7D is an awesome camera, I even have a thought to buy the canon 7d body only

but then I started searching for info about the nikon DSLR… and I have my eye on the nikon D7000
it is really awesome

but then, I found out that the nikon lenses are really REALLY expensive
and I don't have that much of money ( I can get the money but it will take months to get it )

the most important problem is, I really REALLY want the canon 17-40mm f/4 L USM lens
i cannot stress this info enough

and I don't really know that much about nikon lens, i am like a blind guy… you know?

so what should I do? stay with canon or change into nikon?
if your opinion is for me to change into nikon, please tell me a lens that is similar in every way with the canon 17-40mm f/4 L USM lens

thank you for your answer

Nikon 50mm 1.4G - soft/unfocused photos?

I got this lens last year but only really noticed around the end of last year that my photos are not as sharp as photos I've seen online from others who own this lens.My photos sometimes turn out badly focused with soft edges around a subject, this happens especially when the light on the subject is quite strong. This also usually happens when I'm around a metre or more from my subject, any further and I can't get the photos very sharply focused on my subject, or it won't be focused at all, the subject will just be a sharper blur than the background blur…
I often shoot with an aperture of 1.8 - 2.8 when I'm shooting models, and I try to never shoot with a shutter speed slower than 1/80 sec.
I'm not sure whether this is a problem with the lens, my camera, or due to my knowledge of both. I own a Nikon D5000 which I've had for two years.

I need a DSLR with a swivel screen & 1080p video with auto focus… I'm leaning towards nikon d5100 assuming its one of the best dslr cameras on the market.and close to those cameras that are over 2, 000 as far as image quality.
Added (1). I domt care for features please reread my Q. Thanks.

Good DSLR for Photo Major?

Hello, I know that this is kind of alot, but please give me some advice.

So I am currently in my freshman year of college, which is a foundation year for me. After this I will most likely choose photography as my major. Up until this point I have been using a canon bridge camera that I got for Christmas a few years ago. Now that I am most likely going to be concentrating on photography as my major I need to upgrade.

I have used a canon, but was leaning towards nikon, as my aunt has the d3200, and I like using it.So my first question is Nikon vs Canon.

Secondly, For Nikon I am considering the d5100 or the d7000.
my budget is around $1000, though I can go a very little bit higher if necessary, and would like to go lower if possible. Is the 7000 worth the extra? Or would the 5100 with a good lens be a good choice? I also like the smaller size of the 5100, but that is not a deal breaking factor.

For Canon I am considering the t4i or the 60D.

Of all of these cameras which would be the best choice? I really want to get the camera that will take the best pictures and get me through college without holding me back.

I like to take pictures of people in various places - city, forest, beach, house, night, day, etc.) and I also like fairly large prints. I also am mostly familiar with using DSLR cameras as I have had some opportunities to play around with them. I hope that someone can point me in the right direction. Thank you!
