My camera cord won't recognize the computer?

When I go to upload my pictures from my nikon D5000 I plug in the cord turn on the camera and nothing happens? I checked all the settings nothing has changed what is happening?

Difference between 50mm DX and FX?

So I have a Nikon D3100 camera (DX) and I'm thinking of getting a 50mm prime as my first lens (other than the kit lens) however Nikon doesn't sell a 50mm DX lens as far as i can tell. I know some people say it does make a difference and others say it doesn't, so I'm confused.if I use a 50mm FX lens on my DX camera will it be exactly as it would be if i had a 50 mm DX lens on my DX camera.will it crop it at all? please explain it too.thanks! :D
Added (1). I'm thinking of getting the Nikon 35 mm DX lens, but if i can get a 50mm i think that would be a better use of my money, i can only get one or the other not both.
Added (2). So, Andrew, I'm still a little confused.if i get a 35mm DX for my DX camera it'll show up as a 35 mm should.but if i get a 50mm fx for my DX camera will it seem like i cropped it? my goal is to have the equivalent of a 50mm on my DX, not only in view angle and focal length but also the zoom or closeness of what I'm photographing.

Does the Nikon D600 have better dynamic range than the D700? as much as 1 full stop?

1) Does the Nikon D600 have better dynamic range than the D700? … as much as 1 full stop, or less than that?

2) Of all the FX cameras available, which has the best dynamic range?

3) Are the sales of the D600 exceeding, meeting, or missing Nikon's projections / expectations?

Film SLR View Finder Help?

I have damaged my viewfinder in my Nikon FM. The glass appears to broken and a black fluid is appears to be shattered. I was wondering if there was anywhere in the UK that would be able to fix / replace the damage.

If you know a site that has a guide to fixing or replacement parts, that would be good also

Photography lighting and background?

I want to start modeling and can't afford a photo shoot right now to start up a portfolio, so I'm just going to get my tripod, my Nikon, and do it myself, but I don't know what to do as for the lighting and the background! I don't want to go out and spend money, so it would be amazing if someone can tell me how I can make all of this happen from home.

Good Cameras for semi-beginner photographers?

I have a question for all you photographers out there. I am 15, and I have been into photography for about two years now.In Christmas 2011 I got a Kodak Easyshare camera, and I absolutely loved it and have been using it ever since.It was great for just getting started in photography, but it definitely isn't as fancy as some of the stuff out there. I really want to get serious about photography and start a local business someday fairly soon. I enjoy it so much, and I've even gotten quite a few compliment! :) I just don't know what exactly to look for since I am so new to this, and I don't want to end up with something just like what I have now. Does anybody have any idea of something (or a few things) that are a step above what I have now that would be helpful to take my pictures to the next level? I was thinking about a Nikon, but once again, I really have no idea what I'm looking for. Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance! And by the way, I should probably say what kind of pictures I take. I do a little bit of everything. People, nature, a pair of antique binoculars… you name it! :) Just whatever inspires me. And I always like to take it from an artistic perspective.

Why is my Nikon SB-600 flash not working anymore?

I have a nikon sb-600 flash, been working fine for 3 years with my nikon d90 and d7000. Today its been misfiring.It will fire off maybe 3 or 4 times, then it doesnt fire, then few seconds later it will work again, very random. I waited 20 seconds to make sure it was recharging, but it still wouldnt fire. I am using Energizer Rechargable batteries, which i just charged for 6 hours.
Could it be a bad bulb? Or would that make any sense, since it still fires, just not every time.

If anyone could give me some suggestions id appreciate it
