Should I pay to get my Nikon fixed, or just buy a new one?

I have a Nikon D60 that I've had for about 3 years. A couple weeks ago, it malfunctioned and will no longer take photos.It says 'release shutter button.' I have to send it to Nikon and have heard that it costs about $150 to get it fixed, and some have said after getting it fixed, it happens again. I don't know if I should get it fixed or maybe get a new camera, possibly a canon with video, since the D60 doesn't have video features. I'm not a professional photographer or anything, but I love the quality a dslr gives me. I can't live without my camera! What should I do? Nikon vs. Canon? Any opinions? Thanks!

Nikon D5100 on blackfriday?

Hey im a beginner and im looking to buy my first dslr. I decided on the nikon D5100.
I looked at amazon and bestbuy and its going for $500 body only and $600 body and 18-55mm lens.
So will they have this camera for sale on blackfriday? I wanna buy it cheaper and im willing to wait.
And if you suggest any other deals i would appreciate it. Thanks.

Which is the better compact system camera, Nikon 1 V1 or Nikon 1 J1?

I'm hoping to buy a compact system camera. I have only used compact camera's before. Through various forums and reviews, i found out that these two are a bit better. Can anyone please tell me which is better off these two, or if not is there any other better one in the same price range.

I need to make some high quality images for my family in size 20x16 (500x400mm). Then do i need 20MP camera like Samsung NX1000 with 50-200mm or i can use my Nikon D5000 12MP with 55-200mm.with regards.

Is there any other way to take pictures of myself WITHOUT a swivel screen?

With a DSLR camera, lets say it doesnt have a swivel screen and i put it on a tripod or there, i wont know where to stand exactly in the right place, (my forehead might be cut off), is there any techniques to know where to stand instead of constantly looking behind the camera to know? maybe a mirror on the wall? nah that wont work… any ideas?

I wish all DSLR cameras came with swivel screen like the nikon d5100 :(((

Upgrade from D5000 to D7000?

I am thinking of upgrading from my D5000 which I have been using for the past 2 years and now I think I should upgrade the body to a D7000. Mainly because of its got better ergonomics and more physical buttons to change things, more buffer.etc

Is it a good time to buy the D7000 or should I wait for its replacement or a better camera from nikon in the next 5-6 months? I do not want to go full frame.

Phone Videos not transferring to Windows Movie Maker?

Hi,

I am trying to make a timeline of our son's videos. I transferred all the videos from our phone onto our computer;however, I am not able to import them to Windows Movie Maker. All my videos from my Nikon had no issue transferring to the program. Any ideas of how I can fix this?

What dslr camera is best for me? - 1

I am a beginner when it comes to dslr cameras. But i am super interested in photography and would like to upgrade from my point and shoot camera. I have researched some and found two but im not sure about them. The first is the Nikon d3000, and this is the one im leaning more towards. The other is the Cannon Rebel t3. Both with the starter kit lenses. I know, i know, rival brands, but i dont really have a preference. I really want it to be able to take good pictures of sunsets, because i live near the beach, and of course people. I also dont really want a video setting, if that helps. Which camera is better? can you give pros/ cons? Or if there are any better options please let me know! Thanks!

P.S. i will be buying this myself, and im 15 year olde without a job, soo please keep your camera suggestions in the same price range as the other two: D

I will be mainly recording snowboarding, skateboarding and well al the x-games stuff becuase my friend asked if I could record for them and the D1300 seemed good.

Getting good depth of field with my nikkor 18-105 lens?

I'm taking family portraits of four people this next weekend. I'm wondering how to get a good depth of field with my nikkor 18-105 lens? What shutter speed, and aperture should I set my camera to in order to blur the background out? Also i'm not sure what other settings I will need to adjust. I set it to it's lowest which is f3.5 and it didn't blur anything out.Do I need to focus on an object and then take the photo. Still confused on this because i'm still learning everything on this camera.thanks for any help!
