Want to make a short film?

I would like to make a short film but it would be my first one so i need advice. It's not going to be a sketch or anything. I was going to base it off of a poem like Fire and Ice by Robert Frost but i cant seem to think of anything. I think i still plan on basing it off of a quote, poem, speech, etc. Anything in mind?
Also any tips on making the film? I have experience taking pictures with my Nikon D5100 which is what I'll be using but nothing more than photography. No cinematography. I would like to get into it though. Suggestions for beginners? thanks (:

Confused about cameras?

I've had a little Point and Shoot 12mp for years… love it. I enjoy taking pics, particularly of my daughter. So… onwards and upwards, wanting to update, I thought I'd look around at getting a new camera.

I'm quite artistic and have a good 'eye' when it comes to photos, so want something where I can control the outcome more… you know, blurred backgrounds, slow shots of running water, macro shots of flowers and so on.

1.In the shop on day one, I instantly fell in love with the Samsung NX1000 at £380. 20mp, interchangeable lenses, has that 'PASM' dial, but I'm not sure how 'manual' it actually goes.No built in flash, but one in the box to fit on the 'shoe' and no view finder… but it feels wonderful and lovely, and at 20mp should give great pics. But it doesn't seem to be very popular on the internet… reviews are a bit wishy-washy and people seem to be poo-pooing it, saying its a bit slow between shots. Is it getting slated because its not a DSLR or a Canon or a Nikon? Has Samsung got a bad name in photography?

2. Then, looking in the same price range for something with a viewfinder and a better reputation, I came across the Panasonic G3 at £350. Feels good. Looks nice. Has a viewfinder AND a touchscreen. Fancy focusing options… 16mp. Good reviews and a Leica lens. Nice, but that price, I can actually get a proper DSLR. I'm not sure how 'manual' mirrorless cameras like the Panasonic G3 and Samsung NX1000 are… aren't DSLRs are surely better?

I'd perhaps like to actually 'study' photography through Open University or something, so wouldn't I be better with a real DSLR that will definitely offer all of the manual options I'd need to actually 'learn' properly… (Or would a mirrorless camera be sufficient for this??)

3. I prefer Canon over Nikon. I just do. I like the colours, they seem warmer. I have a latex allergy, and Canon are somewhat more helpful than Nikon about that, and in any case, either way, I could get a silicone skin to go over whichever camera. … (Nikon feel REALLY rubbery). Anyway, regardless, I do prefer Canon. Argos have currently got a good deal on the Canon 1100d… £330 with a bag and tripod and dvd telling you what to do… (which wouldn't break the bank and was actually at my original budget). 12mp is enough (isn't it?) to take some nice pics of my daughter and learn how to use a DSLR? (And £330 is much more comfortable for me… )

But when reading reviews about the 1100d, the consensus is that for the extra money (£200!), I'd be better off buying a better model. The 1100d seems to get grown out of quickly, and replaced quite soon with a better model once the photographer gets a familiar with it all… So…

4. I shopped around and decided on the Canon 600d - 18mp, flippy-dippy screen, quite a lot of bells and whistles… I wouldn't need to replace it for years and could get some AMAZING pictures out of it…
This would be a real (guilty) treat for myself… So I priced it all up, and settled on Currys, who have a deal on at the moment the 600d and kits lens, with an extra battery and a remote for the camera for £499. (£540 ish after bag and tripod etc).Jobs a good 'un… eeek

Or maybe not! I went to Currys today, to browse, because I'm not sure, and the Samsung NX1000 STILL feels really good in my hands, and it does have a whopping 20mp, and it would be good to have something small and transportable but it has no viewfinder and no real following.

But what about the viewfinder and the touchscreen of the Panasonic G3 which is cheaper… But since I'd be paying around £400 anyway, maybe the DSLR would be the way to go.

Oh please help me! I don't have loads of money. The whole camera buying thing is a bit of a stretch in the first place… but I do feel that sometimes you have to spoil yourself, and maybe this would be a good way of one day making some money back whilst doing something I really do love doing. I even fancy taking a course, or studying it all and really getting into it… getting a portfolio on the internet… I would like to one day possibly set up a studio, do school photo's, take pictures of babys and bumps… And I have to start somewhere…

Any suggestions? I'm getting myself tied up in knots. I think I would like to go for the Canon 1100d… its in my price range, it should let me learn how to take photos with a DSLR… but if I went semi-pro or so, it would need replacing of course, and it does worry me that it seems to be sneered by the big-guys out there…

Or could I learn how a DSLR works with the Panasonic G3 (mirrorless with touchscreen and viewfinder… )?

Or should I bite the bullet with the 600d?

Oh… please help me! :)
Added (1). I realise the Panasonic isn't a DSLR, its just that it has a viewfinder and a 'PASM' dial on… and could possibly be used like a DSLR?

Need help with concert photography?

I have just bought a Nikon D5100, I also bought the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm F4.5-5.6 G ED VR lens with it. I am going to a concert on April 2nd and I am five rows from the front, do you think I would get decent quality pictures? The camera is great so far considering I have only had it a day, so I don't know much about it.

Why won't my lenses fit on my Nikon D7000?

I recently upgraded my Nikon D5000 to the Nikon D7000 and I can't figure out why my lenses won't work. I've never needed a lens mount before and I'm wondering if maybe this is my issue. The lenses are significantly smaller. This may be a silly question because I can't find anything online about why they wouldn't fit but I definitely need help!
Added (1). : Definitely sure I didn't buy a Canon.it's very strange and I'm seriously so confused!

Camera help? Nikon vs Samsung?

So I'm into photographs although I'm not a professional.but i would like to invest in a good yet not so expansive camera .. I was thinking about the Nikon L810 ( http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5598218.htm) or this samsung camera http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5598548.htm.
Which is the best one? Or are there any other good brands but with the similar prices? ( from 200 to 300 euros preferably )
Added (1). But isnt the Fujifilm only 14mp ??

Do I see the effect of aperture when looking through viewfinder?

Hi,
I just bought a Nikon D3200 yesterday. I was looking through the view finder and adjusted aperture values. I thought I would see some difference, but I did not. Why don't I see that? Do I need to do some settings to see that effect before capturing a picture? Thanks.

Anything better than a nikon D3200?

Any cameras along the same budget which is better than the D3200, the colour depth, and contrast interested me, but I read it has too many pixels for a very good quality picture (Whats the deal with the pixel thing, whats classed as good?).

I'm looking to upgrade from my 350D, cameras i've been looking at seem to wipe the floor with it… I was leaning away from canon, being the cameras I've reviewed, canon came up short (for my price range).

Anybodies opinions, recommendations?

Thanks :)

What, exactly, is being represented in this photo?

Is it the hat or the person? The reason I am asking is that, I plan on taking pictures of my friend in a few days. I guess I should try and find ways to make "her" really stand out. I have been contemplating how to do this for a while. We will be shooting outside. In some of our images, I guess i should just really represent "her", but how? I don't want them to look like snapshots. And in some of our images, I can have her represent a pair of jeans or drink, meaning she will have it and it will be the subject. I just really want to make sure that I have a clear subject and meaning rather than just having snapshots of her.
Added (1). That's why I am looking at other photos for examples
