How are people allowed to bring cameras on Kingda Ka to film the ride?

On Youtube I see POV videos of people riding Kingda Ka with cameras (whether it be a cell phone, camcorder, digital camera or Nikon, I don't know)! But they're very strict with what you bring on there (unless you hide it).So do people hide cameras? Or wear "GoPros"?

Which type of camera is good for taking close-up photos of mineral specimens?
Added (1). I need a camera with manual focus to take very clear, close-up photos of gemstones. I will appreciate any help.
