Trying to zero in my .270 rifle?

I bought it and threw a Nikon on it. Need some help, never had a bolt action always hunted with a 30/30 iron sight, dropped plenty of bucks with it.it broke so I bought the Thompson Center .270 with a Nikon scope. What would be a good range to zero it in at? Also, Could y'all tell me if I zero it in at 100yrds, and I was shooting at a buck at 50yards, would I shoot high or low? and how much. Not just At 100 yards whatever You advise zeroing in at give me A chart or advice on How high or low to shoot depending on where it's zeroed at

Free video editing software that can slow down video?

I will be shooting with a Nikon D5100. I think it can only go as high as 30fps. I would like it to be 1000fps but id think it's possible to change 30fps to 1000. Anyway, i need good slomo editing software that i can use with Windows 7. I tried getting Adobe CS6 but it did not work on my PC. I also have tried getting Sony Vegas but that also did not work. I have gotten AVS but i don't really like it. Any free software i can download? thanks (:

Best entry level DSLR?

I want to buy a DSLR camera but need some pointers. I want:
- either a nikon or cannon
- good quality pictures
- auto and manual settings
- be able to change exposure/ ISO etc
- up to about £600 with lense included ( can go up a bit)
- decent battery life
- would like to be able to shoot RAW

i don't need:
-video capabilities
-touchscreen
- fold/flip out screen

I plan on using for wildlife/landscape and some sports photography and also night time.

Anyone know anything I could have a look at? any help is greatly appreciated!

Using a USB focus controller?

Hi,

Im wondering if I can control focus during a movie on a Nikon D3100 with a USB video controller? Or are there any hacks for the D3100 for movies?

Can anyone offer a bit of advice for a beginner to macro photography.?

I've recently purchased a starter SLR camera (Nikon 3100) and found that even with the standard 18 - 55mm I've managed reasonable results taking close up shots of flowers etc.

I'd be interested to try and improve on the results with a better lens allowing me to photograph insects etc close up. I'm only a beginner and have a budget of about £150 to spend, is there anything in this price range that would allow me to get life size or larger images of close up subjects?

I'm happy enough to digitally zoom images to get the size I want to so long as I can still keep clear definition but obviously the larger the image I can get optically the better.

Argos have a Sigma 70 - 300 mm macro lens for £140, is that likely to offer signicantly better close up shots than my existing lens or is there anything better I should be looking at in my budget?

Are all beginner DSLR chargers the same?

I lost my Nikon D40 charger and I was hoping I could use my friend's Canon DSLR charger to charge. Both are beginner DSLRs so I thought maybe it's the same. And if it fits, it wouldn't affect the charger/battery would it? Thanks.

Focus issue with regards to macro photography.?

I'm new to photography, and have a Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 DG Telephoto/Macro Lens fitted to a Nikon D5100. I know it's not the best len but it suits me fine when taking landscape or wildlife shots. Though I seem to have a focus issue when taking close up shots or macro pictures.

I can't quite focus on the whole of the image that I want to capture, parts of is come out blurry. Rather than being able to get the whole image sharp I can only manage to get part of the image sharp.

An example is of these 2 flower shots. I can only get parts of the flower in sharp focus not the whole thing.

Am I using the lens correctly? What are better lens to use for marco photography?

Advice on Nikon V1 camera?

I know that generally for landscapes you should set apertures of about f8-22 but that applies for full-frame cameras. Would it be safe to say that for a much smaller sensor size like the V1 I can get away with f4-5.6 and also to minimize diffraction?

Thinking about a new dSLR. Help?

Alright, so I've been messing around with digital photography for a few years now. (Probably 4?) I'm DEFINITELY not even close to "good" at photography. However, I've been messing around with my Nikon D40 and a few different lenses for a few years now and I think its time that I should buy a new body.

I'm torn, however. I LOVE Nikon (not that I know any other brand; Canon for example) so I'd probably be comfortable sticking with Nikon. (Since I have the most experience with that brand.) Anyway… I have a budget of about $1500 and then approximately another $500 to spend on a lens or two.

I have a remote, external flash, tripod, etc that I use that I've been using with my D40.

So, my ultimate question is which body should I go for? Just because I have $1500 to spend on a body/body+kit doesn't mean I need to spend it all.

I've been looking at the D90 and D7000 for months now. (Shooting in the stores and messing around with them.) And I've recently discovered the D7100.

Anyway, what would YOU do if you were in my position or do you have any suggestions for a beginner?

Would i be able to shoot wedding photography with a nikon 55-300mm lens?

I recently bought a nikon d3100 with a 18-55mm lens and would like to upgrade to a lens with some zoom and i was thinking about the nikon 55-300mm lens, i mean why not right? But would i be able to take quality wedding photos with a zoom lens like this without having to switch from 1 lens to another.
