Is there a place where I can buy the Canon G7x mark 2?

It won't let me add to cart on the best buy website, and it isn't in the store near me, on amazon it is a 100 dollar difference (if it comes down to it, I will cough up the extra money need be, but it is 780 on amazon, and 680 on best buy, there is an "international version" but I don't know what that means, like if it is a fake camera or something). Is there another store where I can buy it from that is trust-worthy and that has it in-stock?
Added (1). It is also on backorder on the canon website, any thoughts on when it will be back in stock?

Is it possible to modify a Nikon F3 to add a needle light meter?

I am having issues with the +- light meter in my Nikon F3. The classic needle meter has always been my favorite, so it would be the best of both worlds to have that meter in my favorite SLR.

Any ideas?

Just bought used nikon d3200. Wont take pictures without sd card.

I bought a used nikon d3200 today. It didn't come with an sd card but it seems to be working except Im not able to take pictures without an sd card in it. Everything else seems fine, I was able to change settings on info and menu to use it manually. It's my 1st dslr camera so I've got plenty to learn from it. So is this normal that Im not able to shoot without a memory card? I just wanna make sure there's nothing wrong with it before spending more $ on a memory card, I just dont know how if I could shoot without it. Couldn't find anything on google about it either. Thanks for any help in advance.

Do all film SLRs suffer from gummy light seals? Which ones do not?

I love the manual-control design of the 80's era film SLRs and I currently own a Canon AE-1 Program and a Nikon FE that I recently picked up.

I haven't had the chance to test out my Nikon yet but the Canon has been fantastic, with the exception of the light leaks, a problem that seems to plague many SLRs of this era.

I'm aware that the light seals are relatively easy to replace but I'm a bit worried about damaging the internals and I haven't given it a try yet.

Is my FE likely to have problems with light leaks? Also, since I own more FD lenses, are there any Canon FD bodies that do not suffer from this problem?

Nikon D3200, beginner's advice and help?

Hello all,

I've always fancied the photographer lifestyle and wanted to actually try it now that I have time on my hands. I've read loads of websites containing guidelines. However, I've come across an obstacle.

My shooting setting is on Shutter mode. I increased my ISO to 3200. I'm just taking pictures in my room: white background and orange tinted lamp. F25 aperture. Manual lens focus.

When I take the photo, it comes out blurry! Please help.

Will Nikon clean my viewfinder?

Will Nikon (or reputable third party) clean dust that has gotten into my viewfinder? I see a dot in the finder above a grid line and I've tried blowing and the bunch, but it won't come out. Also, I can't see it on the fresnel when I peer in. Will Nikon or whomever take the focusing screen out to clean it if I give it to them? Will I have to specify? Anyways, thanks.
Added (1). Just to clarify, the dust doesn't affect my image obviously. But, it does show up completely black. I do not think it is a scratch in the focusing screen. It has the same kind of black color as the frame lines and focus selection.
Added (2). also, will they take a look at it when I send it in just for a general cleaning once in a good while?

How to fix the focus on the camera?

I should know how to do this, having done photography since 2010 with D-SLRs, but I'm not yet accustomed to my newest lens which is a 50mm Nikkor lens. I use a Nikon D3100, so the auto-focus feature isn't available. I manually focus and I have done enough practice to understand that when a green light comes on in the corner, it's focused on part of the subject.

Well, last night it wouldn't work. That green light was flashing on and off and I looked it up. I fixed it, or so I thought. It doesn't flash on and off now and flashes when the viewfinder focuses; the picture would look sharp and exactly the way I'd want it.

Then I take the picture and it comes out blurry…
Added (1). I forgot to mention that for right now, I'm shooting on Auto. I shoot Manual, too, but for now I'm shooting on Auto.

Okay so I just got a rokinon 14mm f/2.8 lens for my Nikon d3300 and all the pictures I ve taken with it have come out blury. It s definitely the lens because my basic 18-55mm lens takes crystal clear pics. I ve been testing it by taking pictures of trees about 250ft away. Is there settings I need to adjust my camera to for this lens? I ve just been using auto focus but I can t get it to focus right. Is my subject too close and that s why they re blury? Because this lens is usually used to take pictures of the sky and stars. Or is it a problem with the lens on an inside piece of glass that I wouldn t be able to clean without taking it apart? Photo equipment for Australia Expedition?

I'm planning on traveling to Australia this summer with National Geographic as part of one of their high school expeditions and I'm looking for advice on gear. My main struggle is there is such a diverse amount of work I'd like to accomplish which requires lots of different gear and I don't want to overpack or take on too much. I want to shoot Underwater photos, Wide angle/scenery, Astrophotography, and Good photos of the animals. We are going to be going all over from snorkeling in the great barrier reef to Sydney and the zoo there to the rainforest and camping in the outback. They recommended we bring some all-inclusive style lenses aka telephoto but I value a good depth of field and don't want my photos to look like some average tourists. I've been into photography for a year and a half and have a nikon d800 with a 50mm 1.4, 90mm 2.8, and 28-300mm telephoto. Personally I enjoy portraits so I use my 50 a lot but they advised against bringing many fixed lenses as the weight builds up. Overall what are your thoughts? I've been looking into the 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 vr ii lenses but they're quite expensive and I don't want to spend all my money on the wrong gear. Also for underwater pics I'm torn between buying housing (I'm looking at meikon but they don't have any extra ports for the d800 housing so I'd be stuck with a 35mm if I buy one) or buying a low cost waterproof point and shoot. Any advice helps, thanks!

In some of the older models I have a battery of the same dimensions that states:
7.4V 1030mAh 7.7 Wh

Taking A Photo From The Shade When It's Sunny How Do I Do It? I Have a Nikon D3300?

So I have a difficult situation where I'm taking a photo of a building that has a large awning covering the entrance which needs to be the main focus of the image. I can take the image from the shade across the way under some trees, but it's still extremely difficult to keep from getting photos that are too dark under the awning.

What can be done about this? I've tried playing with White Balance but still can't figure this out?

I could take pictures just fine if I was in the shade (under the awning) but this has to be taken from a distance so you end up with.

Me under shaded trees -> Sunlight Covering everything between me and the building as it's bright out -> the building itself shaded at the entrance with the awning.

What can I do guys any tricks to help from keeping that from getting to dark? I appreciate the help?

And it doesn't really matter about the price I just want some good quality cameras and then I'll worry about the price later. Thanks!

What's the deference between this camera and an iPhone camera?

http://www.flipkart.com/nikon-d3200-body-af-s-dx-nikkor-18-55mm-f-3-5-5-6g-vr-ii-lens-dslr-camera/p/itmdyz8hpwfdydv2?pid=CAMDA6RJERF8HS4G&&lens_attachmentSelected=true&otracker=pp_camera_lens_attachment

I'm not a pro-photographer, just a "wannabe". If I get this camera, apart from the "style" factor, will it take noticeably better pictures than my iPhone camera? What exactly is the difference? I've heard the "megapixel count" doesn't matter unless you're going to enlarge photos to poster size.
Added (1). If this does take noticeably better pictures, I'd order it right away, please help.
Also, if you recommend this over the iPhone camera for everyday hobby photography, let me know which "lens attachment" shall I choose. There are so many choices, and I don't have any idea.

DSLR cameras for filming video?

Why does everyone say DSLR cameras are the absolute worst camera for filming youtube videos? I have found several you tubers plus more that use dlsrs cameras (nikon d5100, canon t3i, nikon d5200, etc) and they use a shotgun mic and the image and sound is pristine. Ive asked about filming with a nikon d5200 and people practically called me "dumb" for buying a dslr and not a camcorder.
I don't have $1600 to drop on a camera and the nikon d5200 ($500) video samples and sound samples seem great. Can someone explain to me why people hate dslrs for filming when plenty of successful you tubers are using them?

Canon PowerShot G9 X, a good choice as an upgrade?

I have a Canon Powershot 310 HS but in a video I saw it said that if you have the 300 HS there is no need to upgrade. However I think there surely must be a noticeable difference between a mid range camera released in 2011 compared to what's supposed to be Canon's best small camera from 2015? I am considering other options, like the G7 X, Sony's smaller cameras and the Nikon 1. However the camera I buy must be small as I travel a lot! So is it worth the upgrade or maybe you could recommend another camera?

Advise on camera lenses for Nikon DX?

I'm just getting into photography. I plan on getting a Nikon D5500 (body only). I have £400 to spend on lenses.

I want to shoot street photography, mostly in lowlight conditions. Because of that I've decided that I'm going for the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 no mater what. They cost around £150, leaving me with £250 for another lens. I want to go for a telephoto/zoom lens for travelling or just daily usage. I'm siding towards the Nikkor 55-200mm lens or the 55-300mm. Is a 35mm and a 55-200mm a good range?

I also want to get into landscape and cityscape photography. I want to get a super wide angle lens for that but that will have to wait because of the price. Is the 35mm on a crop sensor wide enough or would something like an 18mm be better? If it isn't wide enough then should I go for an "all in one" zoom lens instead of the 55-200?

How do these lenses compare with each other in terms of image quality, chromatic aberration, etc…

Nikon 18-140 f/3.5-5.6 ED VR
Sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 DC
Sigma 18-250 f/3.5-6.3 DC
Tamron 18-200 Di ii VC
Tamron 18-270 f/3.5-6.3

Keep in mind I only have roughly £250 to spend on one!

Ultra Wide Angle Lens?

I'm new to photography and I want an ultra wide angle lens mainly for night time cityscapes and occasionally landscape photography. I have a Nikon D5500 and want a 15-16mm FX equivalent, meaning I would want a 10 or 11mm lens. Since it would mostly be sunset, blue hour, and night time shots I would want one with a fast aperture. I don't want to spend too much on a lens, preferably under £500. I've looked into lenses and the one that ticks all my boxes is the Samyang 10mm f/2.8. The only downside to this is it can't have filters on it as the lens hood is built in.

Which is better for ultra wide angle shots, prime or zoom? I know that prime lenses are going to be sharper but is having the versatility of a zoom lens worth it or would just cropping it be better?

Then it come to the next question. Is there that much of a difference between f/2.8 and f/3.5 when it comes to lowlight shots? I'm looking at the Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G for the zoom range but was just wondering is it better to get a prime lens with a fixed aperture of f/2.8 for lowlight cityscape shots?

And are other brands like Sigma, Tokina, Tamron, good as well?
How do these compare with each other?

Samyang 10mm f/2.8
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 DXII
Tokina 11-20mm f/2.8 Pro
Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5
Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5
Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G

Ideally I would want a 10-20mm f/2.8 that can have polarizing filters.

Lenses compatible with Nikon D3200?

I just bought a D3200 and I'm very new to photography but trying to learn as much as I can. So I'm trying to broaden my lenses from just my basic kit lens to something else. There's so many different things that I just don't quite understand yet.

I am looking for good portrait lenses. I have a few different ones in mind. But at the moment I'm specifically looking at the 1.8 50mm. Problem is that I'm not sure which "version" is compatible with my camera. I've seen an E series, a D, and a G. And I am confused.

So can anyone tell me which one is the one that's compatible with my D3200?

Lenses compatible with the Nikon D3200?

So I m a beginner in photography, so excuse me if I sound like a moron. But there s all these terms and different things and it s pretty confusing. I just bought my first DSLR (D3200) a few months ago and now I m looking to expand my lenses. I ve been working with the kit lense and I m pretty happy with what I ve been able to do with it thus far. But just like any addict, I want more.

Why is the monitor displaying bad blurry photos on my DSLR camera?

I understand that a lot more goes into play (balancing the shutter speed, ISO, and aperture), but what I don't understand is why every photo displays blurry on the monitor no matter how many settings I change.

I am completely new to cameras. Just picked up my first one - a Nikon d3100. I love it so far but what's up with the blurry monitor display after I take a picture?

Is that just how monitors display pictures typically and I am simply overreacting?

Thanks for the help!

Nikon D3100: how to save setting in scene modes?

Hello,

I have got a Nikon D3100 and I cant seem to figure how to save and keep settings I make in those default scene modes such as landscape or portrait. The greatest nuisance is I set a certain AF area mode (viewfinder) but after turning the menu knob to different mode it returns to its original setting. Could anyone please advise me on how to save those settings? It wouldnt bother me much if the multiple point area / automatic focus area always didnt come back in the landscape mode. I want to shoot with single point AF when snap mountains for instance.

thanks a lot.

Does the Nikon D3100 camera have good video quality?

My parents recently got me a Nikon D3100 so I can start taking pictures and recordeding things. I've taken pictures and I'm getting better everyday, but I have yet to try the video option on the camera and I'm really wanting to. I'm just wondering is the video quality decent, good, great even? (Don't really care about the sound quality yet) I'm wanting to get into cinematic videos of cities, lakes, cars wildlife and things like that, mostly outside stuff. I'm wanting to document this cinematography on YouTube so I want the quality to be good for the viewers. I saw a video on the Nikon D3100 and the person in the video said it would be best to buy a better lens for the camera other than the one it came with, which really scares me because I don't have any money really, especially to spend on an expensive item like such. If you have ANY advice on how to make good to great quality videos on this camera (using the lens the camera came with) please let me know! And if you have any idea of what to put the settings on to make great quality videos let me know that as well!

New glasses causing serious issues?

I've had my new glasses for roughly a week. I hate them! Instantly, when I put them on things were blurry. I told the girl right then I couldn't see too well. But of course I got the "it's a new script and it takes time to get used to" speech. After an hour of use that same day, I got a killer headache and so dizzy I had to take them off and put my old ones back on. I started getting bad anxiety-sweating, and crying because I was frustrated that I couldn't see well. I went back to the place I had the exam and they checked the prescription to make sure it matched the lens, it did. And again, I got told I have to give them time. So the following morning I woke up thinking I was going to wear them and after a couple hours they came off. I noticed things were blurry mostly out the right eye when I covered the left. I called back my doctor for a prescription recheck and yesterday he said he was getting a different prescription read than before. He said he may use my old script just make it a little stronger. But after further investigation at my eyes he said I had extreme dry eye which could be why my new prescription isn't working out so well. He told me to try eye drops for a week and if things still suck to come back and he'd adjust the prescription. So i've been wearing my new glasses for 8 hours now and I still get a massive headache within minutes after they are on, my eyes feel strained and I immediately feel exhausted. The floor looks uneven and objects look swerved.
Added (1). … This is all mostly with the right lens still. I have noticed when I am outside I can see things bright/clear as day but inside everything is blurry/fuzzy and weird. While on the computer the letters are blending together same while reading a book or magazine. While looking around the room many objects have a "fishbowl" effect as it's called. I seriously don't feel like I can last a whole week. I'd rather go blind with no glasses than wear these right now.
Added (2). So idk if it's the lens that's the issue. It's a new lens for me nikon polycarb sv. It's supposed to be a better lens but everything is so distorted, even though their supposed to cause less distortion. It's a rectangular lens with thick plastic sides. The doctor said these ones may just be too strong for me and I may be better off with a plain poly carb lens like what's in my old frame. So idk, I just know I can't take it much anymore.

I think something is up with my new glasses but doctors say different?

I just got new glasses I purchased through Walmart's Vision Center. My eye exam was done through The Vision Center. I would have bought my glasses through the Vision Center but damn, they wanted anywhere from $250 on up for just the frames. I have Fidelis so as you could have guessed the Medicaid approved glasses weren't good. Well, I just got them and I wore them for about an hour and something isn't right in the right lens. Their a new type of lens. Usually I just get polycarbonate but this time I sprung for a Nikon single vision and it has all this extra stuff in it. So, I'm not sure if that's the issue but it seems like on the right half of the right lens something is wrong. My vision is fuzzy and I have to really stare at something before it comes into clear focus. I went back to the doctor and they said the prescription matched and they won't do a recheck until I wear them for a week to get used to them. But after an hour I got a headache and my eyes were sore from feeling strained in the new glasses. My mom has experience with glasses and she said there may be something wrong with the lens like a swirl or drip dye but she isn't sure. Does this sound like any of that?
Added (1). The left eye is great. There is no problem whatsoever. It's just frustrating because I'm not an idiot. I am well aware new prescriptions take time getting used to and that's what these doctors keep saying just if there's blurriness in a section i don't think that's something i can get used to. I also have an astigmatism in the right eye and they said it weakened since the last exam

Beginner photographer. Buying a Nikon D3300 and not sure which lens package to get?

I am wanting to buy a Nikon D3300 DSLR and have 2 options to choose from on the same site. One is £279.99 and the other £299.99. One lens is described as "18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 G VR II Zoom Lens" and the other is "18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 Zoom Lens". I was just wondering what the "VR II" is and whether it is worth the extra £20?

Trouble deciding on new Nikon D5100 Lens?

Okay so I have a Nikon D5100 and I have the 18-55mm kit lens alongside the 70-300mm Sigma and 35mm Nikkor lens.

I am thinking of adding a new LENS to my collection and Have been looking at Ultra Wide angle lens and fisheyes… Now I will be wanting to take "selfies" and I want to take photos of rooms in houses and get capture the most amount of the room as possible.

ALSO very important is that the lens should be good in LOW LIGHT.

I was looking at Tokina 11-18mm lens and also the sigma 10-20 mm lens.

Does anybody have any recommendations for advice?

Many Thanks in advance!

Nikon D3200 autofocus not working? - 1

When I try to take a photo using auto focus, the lens doesn t even move or make noises that would suggest it s attempting to focus, and it won t take a picture. The manual focus works fine, it s just a pain to have to focus every photo. I tried resetting the camera settings, and yes, I have made sure the switch is on A, not M. I ve had this camera for about a year now, and I just started having this problem.

Upgrading from a Nikon D3200 to a full frame?

I've been shooting with a D3200 for 2-3 years now and it's worked well for me so far. However, I plan on pursuing photography professionally (that's my major) and I believe I'm due for an upgrade. I mainly shoot portrait, in-studio and fashion, and some landscape (also my dog and other animals, but that probably doesn't matter). I want to purchase a full-frame, but I don't want to sell my soul in order to afford it. Is it worth upgrading to a full frame? I was thinking D600/700. The lenses I use the most are 35mm and 85mm. Thanks

Multiple microphones input to one audio input jack? Splitter?

I have a nikon D3200. Its a nice and easy to use camera but I'm not a huge fan of the tools and such that can be used with it. I like the idea of having an audio input on the camera but I am not sure what its limits are. So, I want to have 2 microphones plugged in and both recording what I am filming (More depth to the sound and more options as to what I can record) I want to conduct interviews with this camera. I have two handheld Audio Technica microphones that have a 3.5mm jack that plug into my camera. I would really prefer to be able to use both at the same time and have both plugged into the cameras single audio input jack. How would i go about doing this? Use a splitter and just plug the mics into the ports or what? I don't have many options as to what I can buy. I will be in another country (specifically Haiti) and electricity and all that isn't an option. Thanks!

How important is a touchscreen for video work and filmmaking?

I am thinking of buying a Nikon D5300 as my first camera for video and filmmaking purposes. I have researched very heavily and find this one to be the best.

The only problem is, there's a Nikon D5500, and I'm struggling to choose one.

The D5300 is about 350 dollars cheaper, and the two of them are pretty much identical; but the D5500 has a touchscreen, and the D5300 doesn't.

Just how important is a touchscreen for video production? Would you say that the D5500 is worth the money? Please note that this money is almost vitally needed in other places.

Nikon D3200: Buy now or wait for price to drop further? - 1

I am looking forward to buy my first DSLR and I have set my eyes on Nikon D3200. Well, we all know D3300 is announced and will be released on Feb 6, but I am not planning to get the newer model.

The price of D3200 (since November) has been around $500 ~ $530. I just got my 2013 bonus check and it is just enough to buy my a new camera. So, I am wondering if I should get it now.

Based on experience, is $500 as low as it can get within 2014 Q1? Will the price drop further within the next 2~8 weeks after D3300 is officially hit the market?

(I don't want to cry when the price drop to $450 3 days after I purchase the camera.)

No ads please. I already know where I will buy from.

Which lens would be better for astrophotography on my Nikon D7200 (DX)?

Hi,
I ve been looking online for a while trying to decide which lens to get and I ve narrowed it down to two. The Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Nikon F Mount which is designed for an APS-C sensor (DX) and the Rokinon 24mm f/1.4 ED AS UMC Wide-Angle Lens for Nikon which is designed for a full frame sensor (FX). I just want to know which one would take better photos. I am aiming for landscape shots with a starfield or the Milky Way in the background and maybe a few time-lapse videos as well.
Any help with this would be great, if you ve had experience with both these lenses on a DX camera what was it like. If you could post pictures or links to photos that you ve taken with either of these lenses on a DX camera that will be cool.

Thanks for your help,
Ronan

Help on choosing my first DSLR?

Hello, I wanted to purchase a new DSLR under $1000, Ive had my eye on mostly the Cannon T6, T6S as well as the Nikon D3300. Im still a bit confused on when people say the lense is more important than the megapixels (aside from user skill) because Im so used to using cell phone cameras and what not. The main things I want to use it for is landscape and night time shooting. I always just assumed if there are more megapixels there would be more detail. I have some existing lenses from my dad for Cannon, but since this is my first time buying im not sure for the price if its better to stick with cannon or jump ship if Nikon is the better route for the price. Thanks:)

Last year, I bought the Nikon P600, with a two year warranty. The sales person told my father and I that in the future, if i brought in the P600, I could get a dslr paying the difference of the P600. Full Frame (FX), Crop sensor (DX) Confusion?

Hi, I am really confused on this. I know that the Crop sensor (DX because i use nikon) or APS-C i think it's called has a smaller sensor than a full frame. My understanding is that when you put an FX lens on a DX its focal length is multiplied by 1.5 (Am i right?), but when you put DX lens on an FX the image is cropped. When they say it gets cropped does it mean it actually creates a smaller image? So if a Full frame camera normally produced a 6000x4000 image would it be 4000x2666 or something with a DX lens on it? Please correct me on this if i am wrong.

So if an FX lens on a DX body is multiplied by 1.5 for focal length, would it produce the same quality? For example if i put an FX lens on a DX body with a multiplied focal length to create a focal length of 400, would a DX lens with a focal length of 400 be better quality? (Not including the quality differences in the lenses themselves!)

So to summarize if you put FX lens on DX body the focal length would be multiplied by 1.5 right? And if you put a DX lens on a FX body it would be a smaller image correct? Thanks!

How much is a Minolta SR-2 worth?

I just stumbled upon my grandfather's attic this week and found probably more than a dozen Minolta SR-2 (Brand new in box). I took one out and it looked pristine and it had no use marks and it even had every manual and leaflet with it. It comes with a 50mm rokkor lens.

How much can I sell these each? I plan to keep two, though.

I went on a portrait shoot last week and all of a sudden my pictures started coming out way over exposed. I went online to Nikon and just to send it in was gonna cost $98.00 which is a complete rip off. Any suggestions on a cheaper repair plan or if it's gonna cost more to fix then it's worth?
