Considering buying a new camera for my trip…what should I ask?

The description of the camera (Nikon D40) is this:

Parts included: camera body, kit lens (18-55mm), lens caps, lens cap keeper, battery, battery charger, USB-to-mini-USB cord, and manual. (No memory card.) Virtually no visible marks on body or lens, just a few very slight scratches on the LCD screen. Nothing that affects functionality. The automatic focus on the kit lens will very occasionally get "stuck."

What does that last sentence mean?
What should I ask the seller?

Nikon D40X connecting to computer?

I have a Nikon D40X and I need to connect it to my computer but still be able to take pictures as I do. There are two ports on the side of the camera, one is a usual cable to download pictures but there is also a rounded end. (Sorry I don't know the names)
I need a set up like this for a photography job I'm doing where I need to instantly download the pictures to my computer, but still have the camera active.
I've seen this done, but I don't know how to set it up on my camera.
Help please.

1) what is the secondary cable I need, the one with the rounded end.

2) Do I need any software for this?

Nikon D3300 DSLR Camera Dark Images?

Hi
Today i have just bought a Nikon D3300 DSLR and need some help. I was using the camera fine and getting amazing photos. This is where i made the mistake of attempting to explore the camera more. Now even in the bright sun outside the photos coming out are so dark you can just see an outline of what im photographing. On the readings it says the image is too dark and the exposure marker is going past -2. This is even after ive opened the Aperature to 5 (Biggest opening possible with lens), Put the ISO on 1600 and put the shutter speed to about 1/60. I want to take photos of fast action e.g. Car racing but i cant even take a still photo without blur due to long shutter speed. What do i do?

Photo Editing Software for Mac? - 1

Looking for expert advice! My name is April and I am very passionate about photography. I'm currently a beginner, but I'm actually quite talented and self-taught. I love to take lots of pictures and I'm working on starting my own business as lifestyle/portrait photographer. I've already created a business page on Facebook and Wix to showcase some of my work. I also bought my first DLSR camera (Nikon D3100) and the 200mm lens last year. I also just bought the Sunpak DigiFlash 3000 external flash, but I still don't have any kind of professional software to edit my pictures with so I've just been using programs like iPhoto, Picasa and PicMonkey, (etc… Lol)! I've been doing mostly all of my editing on my mac mini, but I recently bought a new iMac (iCore5/version10.9) so, now I just need the latest photo editing software. I want something professional, but not too complicated to learn. I'm willing to spend the extra $$$, but I want the most for my $$$ as well!

Did some research and here's what I have so far:

Adobe - Currently you can get Photoshop CC and Lightroom for $9.99/m

Adobe Elements - Apparently the watered down version of Photoshop and Lightroom

Aperture - Seems like a decent program?

Capture One? Corel? ACDSee? OTHER?

***What are the differences - pros and cons - how they compare - price - abilities - watermarking/tools - effects - organizing - batch edit - sharing - compatible w/all major still image formats including RAW, etc?
