How to get cigarette smoke out of camera lens?

I bought a MINT nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR on ebay for an amazing price, but when I got it it stinks like an ashtray. I cleaned the lens barrel in rubbing alcohol and the smell didnt come out.
How can I get rid of the smell?

Upgrading from 35mm to dSLR?

Hi! i've been shooting film since the beginning of the summer and i feel like i am ready to move up to a dslr in time for christmas. I primarily shoot skateboarding, but i also shoot a lot of general photography. I've been looking at cameras such as the Nikon D5000 and Canon Rebel T3i.To cameras such as the Canon 50D and the Nikon D90. Which one would you recommend for me? Also, what lenses? I already know to buy a Rokinon/Opteka/Pro-Optic/Bower lenses(They're all the same) And a 35mm or 50mm lens.Is a zoom lens necessary? Thank you so much!

Mirrorless digital camera with the best all around (big sensor, speed, fps, low light)?

Which digital camera would you recommend that is the best well-rounded?
I'm talking
-big sensor
-snapshot speed
-slow motion (high fps)
-low light quality in both video and images

I was looking at the Nikon J1 and V1 but they have bad low light quality.
Previously, I was recommended a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55, bought it 2 years ago, and absolutely hate it.It's only good for day time pictures, and the recorded sound is glitchy 95% of the time.
Now I'm looking for a mirrorless model.

How to get my sigma 18-200 DC to autofocus on my Nikon d5100?

I recently purchased the sigma 18-200 DC. How do I get it to auto focus? On the manual there's a photo of the lens with a part at the bottom that has the MF/AF switch, is that an adapter I need to purchase?

Best lens for nature from Nikon?

So, I am going to get a Nikon D3100, and I love taking nature shots, anything outside in highlight. I am going to want a new lens for it though, somewhere under 300 dollars.It needs to be auto focus. What would be the best lens I can get for the Nikon D3100 other than the lens it comes with?

Nikon prime lens help!

Hello, I'm currently in the market for a prime lens. I'm debating between the 35mm f/1.8 or the older 28mm f/2.8. They are both offer really close specks so I'm really confused as to which one I should chose.
**note I have a Nikon D7000 so auto focus for the 28mm will not be a problem.

SLR Pictures Not As Good As Point and Shoot?

I owned a Sony CyberShot HX200V until a few days ago when I upgraded to a Nikon D5100. I cannot for the life of me re-create the same clarity, crispness, focus, color, noise level, etc on this SLR. I was outdoors in the shade with some sun peaking through. I'm not a great photographer, but what is going on with this camera? I am so frustrated right now that a "professional" camera takes worse pictures than my Sanyo pocket camera! Does anyone have any info about this camera or possibly what settings could be wrong or what I am doing wrong? Indoor, the SLR pictures are BY FAR better - but outdoors, no thanks! I don't know whether to return the SLR and stick with the p&s or keep trying. If I keep trying - what am I doing wrong???
Added (1). I am in all modes - manual, auto, different scenes, everything. I know a little about photography - I'm not some stupid person who knows nothing - but I don't know everything. I tried today to play with the aperture, ISO, and shutter speed.My lens is set to auto focus, but every picture comes out blurry out of focus and extremely blurry when you zoom in (on the computer). Also, the few pictures I got where my subject was (almost) in focus - the background was just a huge mess of a blur! When I got home, uploaded to my computer and zoomed in and it's terrible. Can't even see a watch on their arm, buttons become one big mess at about 50% zoom, no clarity what-so-ever. Now, my p&s, perfect every time! I'm trying to figure out what setting could be off to cause this, if any - or possibly, since I was in Auto several times and they are messed up could it be the camera? Or just me not 100% knowing how to use this camera/being efficient with it. The indoor pictures look a

Film Lenses to Digital Cameras?

At the moment, I'm using a Nikon N80 film camera and I have a very nice Tamaron lens that probably costs more than the body of my film camera. I'm going to be having to use a digital camera soon for my photography class, and I'd like to know what camera I'm going to have to buy to be able to use that lens. I'm looking at the N90 because its very similar to the camera I'm using now, but if I can't use the lens that I have, then it might not be the best camera for me.

Will I have difficulties with customs in Europe?

Im travelling to Germany this December and will stay there for travels and an internship.Im taking 4 pieces of luggages and taking many personal belongings including brand items glasses, hats, belts, camera, wallets from Gucci, LV, Nikon, Ferragamo, Boss and so on… also my iPhone5, an iPad and my ipod.It's all used and my personal belongings. There are no receipts or duplicate items nor any originally packed things… but I got worried because my friend from Germany told me I need to be careful with customs because they might think its commercial goods or I'm trying to smuggle things and charge me taxes… I was like WHAT? Charge me for my things? He told me to distribute the items in my luggages.Is that true though? I always thought that if I take many things that are originally packed I'll have to declare them, but not my personal items right?

Does anyone have personal experiences with this?
