Dslr Tamron lens selection?

I have a very little confusion regarding dslr lens. Im not too noob nor a professional. I hv nikon D5100 with kit lens 18-55mm. I want to upgrade my lens. The thing making me confuse is that f-stop means aperture or focal length, the more smaller F number, the more bokeh(blurred background) effect u get. But i have seen lenses with F-stop like 4-5.6 and their sample images hv very smooth creamy bokeh effects that look near to f1.8 or siniliar results. How it is possible? I mean f2.8 or less than this seems to be doing the job but how they does it with f5.6 lens?
I already know the technique of distance between subject and background. More difference means more blurness.
I want a tamron lens for every day to day photography like event or wedding stills etc.
The lens i hv found based on my knowledge and experience is Tamron A17 Af 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD MACRO. Is this the right choice?
u can suggest me other lenses as well, coz i dnt want to regret later:D

Nikon Tamrom 28-75mm 2.8 Lens Help?

Hi Everyone!

I'm looking for a zoom lens for a very small wedding. I have a Nikon D7100 with the kits lens 18-105mm. I also have two prime lenses 35mm 1.8 and the 50mm 1.8. I was looking at the Tamrom 28-75mm 2.8 but the reviews are with all scattered opinions…

Has anyone really tried it out? Is it very noisy? Slow to focus? Good in low light? Sharp images?

Suggestions on any other lens suggestions that won't break the bank?

Thanks!

Got a new Canon 70D with 18.135mm kit lens. Is a 35mm 14 L lens a worthy second lens?

I previously had a nikon d5200 with kit lens and a 35mm 1.8 prime. Sold that set to try something new with canon and upgrade to a a more pro consumer camera the 70D.

I liked the 35mm since it was sharp, nice bokeh and acted as a nifty 50 on a crop sensor.

thinking of going all out for canon 35mm L 1.4 lens.

Is it a good prime lens to invenst it? Or put it towards like a 24-70mm 2.8 L?

Upgrading lenses…which to get?

I'm a natural light photographer who specializes in children, senior, engagement, and family photography. I'm planning on using my tax return money to upgrade my camera to a full frame sensor and upgrade my lenses. I currently own a 50mm 1.8 and an 85mm 1.8 (all nikon products). I thought that the 50 1.4 would be great for my natural light studio sessions (as my studio is a tight sunroom in my home). But the 85 1.4 would be great for my outdoor sessions. I can only choose one or the other…which would you suggest?
