How do lenses work on DSLRs?

I know that typically DSLRs such as the EOS cameras from canon and the nikon 'd' series come with an 18-55 mm lens. I also know what a fish eye lens is but I'm kind of confused what a telephoto, wide, macro and prime lens is. Also, I'm kind of confused… is there just one 18-55 mm lens? or is there one for all of those different lenses? (like a 18-55 macro, telephoto etc.) I'm looking to get a canon t3i but I'm clueless. I love photography and editing and all those things but I haven't really graduated from my iphone camera, so I'm unsure what lenses are best for me. ALSO, if you could dumb it down a bit haha? I'm 13. I don't really know a ton of photography terms. Thanks so much.

What are some good sites to learn about DSLR cameras?

Hello I will be in the market to buy a decent quality DSLR camera. I know analog cameras but digital is a whole new and different thing to learn. Prefer to spend less than a grand but if it really makes a huge difference in picture quality then I will possibly spend more. Are any of these cheaper DSLRs worth the money? Is Nikon or Canon making some of the better DSLR's or is it some new kids on the block. Leica sounds like its over priced for what they are? Full frame or not? I would also like to learn how to use a digital camera since its a completely different way of shooting pictures.My understanding is F stop, and shutter speed doesnt effect the picture the same way a analog camera does? Many questions as you can see lol.So Im in need of some good resources to or even magazines or books that are really good.

I will be shooting mostly Macro, and static nature scenes. Will i need two lens's to get the right effects or is there one size lens I can pretty much do everything? Thanks again for your help

Is it safe to record long videos with a DSLR?

I have a nikon d 3100, i know you can record 10 minutes at a time, but you can easily press record again

but i have heard about "the sensor over heating"

so, is it ok to shoot long videos, 30 to 60 minutes on this camera?

Best Underwater Camera?

I go to Greece every summer and I want an underwater camera I can use. I have a Nikon D3100, but the underwater housings are four digits. I'm looking for a compact camera that can go underwater. I was looking at the Go Pro Hero 3 white, but I saw people's pictures and the quality looked really bad based on what I saw. I have a budget of about $200. Please help!

How to record high quality videos on nikon D3100?

I'm a beginner in photography. Nikon D3100 captures good images but besides that i want to learn more about recording videos in this camera. Recently, i've heard it records 1080p which is good but when i record it personally the quality seem to be a bit noisy and not so clear. Please help. I tried different kind of settings. I saw on many video samples of Nikon D3100, the quality is excellent. I dont know what i do wrong.
I have tried this:

changing to movie quality to

-1920 x 1080p 24fps
-1280 x 720p 30 fps
- 1280 x 720p 25 fps'
- 1280 x 720p 24fps

turn noise reduction to ON.

Active D-lighting ON.

Any specification should i change? Or did i do something wrong? Please do not answer negative comments or ill delete straight away. I would appreciate so much for helping me.

Can I change the firmware of my camera or add features somehow?

So I have a Nikon D3000. I try to do HDRs but it's hard because the D3000's firmware doesn't have an exposure bracketing feature.Is there any way I could load a modified version of the firmware onto the camera? And if so where could I find it?
