I'm torn between the D610 and Nikon DF?

I heard the DF was the best in low light due to having a D4 sensor. I love the small size too. I take astrophotography and in your opinion is the noise difference that dramatic in the D610. I can buy a D610 now or save up for a DF. On sheet the D610 is a no brainer but it doesn't seem that way. Yes you're paying a price for the looks but I feel it's much more than that. Plus you can use vintage Nikon Lenses.

I would defiantly go for the DF if the mega pixels were just a little higher. I crop my astrophotography a lot.

I shoot day photography also street photography, wildlife and landscape.

What is next for Nikon?

I have been looking to purchase a Nikon Point and Shoot camera. I feel that the Nikon L820 best suits me, but I had some questions.

Since this camera was released over a year ago, will there be an upgraded/replacement model available in the next few months? How often does Nikon release new cameras?

Best lens for portraits with Nikon D3200?

Hi,
So I currently own a SIGMA 180-200mm ƒ/3.5 lens on my Nikon D3200
I want better lens FOR PORTRAITS but since i have a crop lenses i dont know what lens are the right ones to purchase, i thought about the [Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G] will it be good?
I want bokeh which means i need small amount of ƒ stop, yet with a pretty low price like these lens
What do you people recommend?

I have a Nikon D3100. Which lens is best for taking indoor portraits?

I am considering the following two:

- Nikkor 35mm 1.4 AF-S
- Nikkor 50mm 1.8 AF-S

But which would you prefer for taking awesome indoor portraits? The 50mm costs about twice as much as the 35mm.

Flash For Nikon Camera?

I' ve just recently got my first digital camera, a second hand Nikon D80, the camera came without a flash. From my days using a film camera I have a Canon Speedlite 177A.

My question is this, will the Speedlite work on the Nikon and do the older flashes designed for film cameras work on DSLR?

If the Speedlite won't do the business any recommondations as to a decent flash for what I know is a pretty dated camera?

Nikon D5100 won't format memory card?

My camera has been giving me error messages and not reading a single card for months now. I've recently learned it needs a firmware update. I have the update downloaded, and the card will read in my computer and I can transfer the firmware update but every card I have comes up with "card is not formatted, format card" when put in to my camera. I have gone to the menu, formatted the card, it will say format is complete, and as soon as I exit out of that menu it says "card is not formatted, format card" again. I've tried to format it with my Mac's disk utility and that didn't work, either. I have no idea what to do, I need my camera to work again but none of the instructions anyone has given me is working, and I know it needs the firmware update. Should I just send it to Nikon to be repaired or is there ANYTHING else I can do?

Why my Nikon doesnt auto focus anymore?

Hi,
I have a problem with my nikon D5200,it doesnt auto focus anymore,with a day ago it was just fine and worked perfectly and now it doesnt even show those little squares when you look into the ocular, it doesnt make them red as the focus is bad or something. It just died.
The manual focus works good, I have to mention its new, I havent used it much…just 2-3 times,and yes I have set both lenses and camera body on autofocus mode…
A few days ago I saw some dirt on it (inside the camera body) and Ive cleaned it gently, I dont know if that could cause such a thing…

How to safely clean syrup off a camera?

I have a Nikon 1 and was carrying it in my bag along with some breakfast and my syrup went through the burger king bag and got it all over the camera, the camera is fine and i cleaned it up pretty good but it got inside the buttons and its sticky and dry, i tried a wet tooth pick but it didnt work, and no i dont have a warranty

My nikon d5200's flash isn't working anymore?

Okay so for starters, I'm not really a professional with cameras yet. But I'm trying my best to learn more
Anyways my camera was working perfectly well and then all of a sudden, my pictures come out really dull and the flash doesn't come on anymore on any of the modes. Not P or M or A or Portrait or anything, I thought maybe this happened because of my friends snatching the camera to see the pictures so they accidentally pressed some buttons which may have caused this. But then I searched it up and I think that means my flash is just not working because the light's burnt out? I want to make sure before I go to some specialist and repair it. So any opinions?

Nikon D3100 focus driving me nuts…how do I get it focused?

I have been trying to get the camera focused all day long and it's driving me nuts. It was absolutley perfect yesterday and now today it's off focus!

I am shooting a largish stationary subject indoors, the lighting is good. I stand about 6ft back with the use of a tripod and the subject is about 4 ft forward from the wall.

I have tried everything I can think of…also read online but with no success…so has anyone got any suggestions/tips/settings?

Aperture A
ISO 100
AFS-single servo
AF Area-single point
Metering-center weighted

Is there anyway to make the Nikon DF do video? Atomos?

Couldn't you record live view somehow. Hook it up to an atomos? Isn't there an HDMI out on the camera. There must be someway to hack the camera software or override it. Thanks!

Good camera for shooting action shots?

Hi! :)

im looking to buy a camera so i can shoot good action shots. (ex: pets, sports, people,wildlife.etc)

My price range would be $500 and down.

ive been looking at the nikon d3200, cannon rebel t3i, or the nikon d5100.

im new to this, so i just wanted to know what some of you camera experts think.

Also, is a shutter speed of 1/4000 per second good? Because some reviews are saying that its slow? Would these cameras not be good for action shots then?

One last question, when i buy a camera, does the lens come with it or do i buy that on its own?

Nikon L820 alternatives?

I'm searching for a USS 200 camera for general use. Some web pages like http://www.photographyblog.com/ said that L820 is far superior to others in the same price range but I read some comments saying that the L820 sucks, I'd like to know which other camera is recomendable with similar specs.

Thinking of this camera however wanted to know if there are any cameras which fair better for the price & specs the d5300 has.

Of course with the right lens, however that's something I am not sure of…

Confused between pentax k500 and Nikon D5200?

I am basically looking at a cam for wildlife photography…il get a k500 with 18-55+50-200 lens in cheaper rate than d5200 with 18-55 lens only.My confusion and concerns are as follows:

Though video is not of primary importance to me…I can deal with absence of 60fps but absence of stereo sound recording hurts me a bit in case of pentax.
megapixels aside…another thing is that focus points cant bbe seen in the pentax's viewfinder…now I hhavent got my hands on one…so Is it that we cant see focus points at all or can we see atleast the area focused with green dots after pressing half the shutter key. I would like to know that.
another couple of things I am concerned with pentax is absence of IR sensor on the screen side of the camera…and lack of swivel screen…but pentaprism and in body SR compensates for that in my book…so fellas.what shud i do?

First of all I am not a hater and this is serious question out of my curiosity.
I always wondered why is japan so awesome I mean after the Hiroshima-Nagasaki they developed so quickly. The crime rate is very low. There food is famous, they have some great manga's, they made some epic animes like Dragon Ball Z and Naruto. They made crazy awesome shows like power rangers. In Technology no one can defeat Japan. The people there are friendly and attractive, there culture is so good. They respect elders and are very polite and punctual. To top that off, their culture and their traditional martial arts are very much emulated not only in the West but worldwide. In the field of sophisticated precision electronics they are the best. Look at Tokyo the best city in the world and better than Dubai, New York, London, Toronto, Shanghai. It is also largest city in the world. It is also the world's busiest city,neon lights, hip cats, mega towers, and a rowdy subway. Their streets, their toilets are so modern and advanced. Sumo is a sport that is over 2000 years old. Japan has tons of original invention. They have super high internet speeds. The have some huge global companies like Sony, Honda, Canon, Nikon, Nintendo, etc. They made the Play Station. There electronic companies are by far the best in the world. They also made some great video games. Architecture and Infrastructure of the cities is good. They have electronic toilets. Japan also has universal healthcare - they have a system where everyone is covered and it's affordable. So that's another huge thing you don't have to worry about in Japan, whereas in America you do. The food is much better, healthier, more delicious and of higher quality in Japan. Japan has the lowest obesity rate in the world. Japan has the the best public transportation in the world. Japan has turned to be the land of producing things with skilled, discipline and technology oriented workers in the world. They have the highest average IQ. Every new idea has turned to be the new product efficiently. From what i heard they are 10 or 15 years ahead of us! And they have many more awesome things which I cannot write here.
I just love japan and can't wait to go there.

So what makes the so superior to others. How are they doing so well?

Camera settings for newborn photo shoot?

What camera settings do you recommend for photographing newborns indoors with natural available window light?
I am thinking ISO 400-600, F1.4-2.8, 1/125 sec?
Spot metering or dynamic metering and why?
Single focus or continous focus?

* With newborns, I find myself placing the focal point on the eye closest to the camera and then while keeping the shutter pressed half way down recomposing the shot with rule of 1/3rd and pressing shutter completely to take the shot. In order to do this technique must I shoot in single focus area mode? If I were to use this technique in continuous focus area mode would I loose the sharp focus obtained from the eye when I recompose because the camera would then focus on the new focus point I recomposed the camera too?

Will a Raynox mx3000 fisheye lens work on my nikon d3100?

I know the 18-55mm kit lens is for filters but I have a cheap.45x wide angle and it works just fine, I've tried looking it up on google to see if anyone has put a raynox on their nikon, and no results. Has anyone tried it? Some people say that it won't focus but I think otherwise. Please someone help! Should I teturn my Tokina Superwide for a 18-200mm Nikkor?

So, I got my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X116 Pro DX II, and while I'm thrilled to have a new lens to play with, I didn't anticipate how "super" this wide angle lens is.

I'm a fledgling photographer who has only had a 35mm f/1.8 prime until now, so this Tokina is just miles different. I know I'll just need more practice with it, but considering I mostly take pictures of people in indoor settings, I'm strongly reevaluating my need for this.

Instead, I'm looking to get the Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S ED VR II for my D5200.

Some of my photos i developed were not visible, just grey, what happened? Help?

i am using a nikon f100 with fujifilm film and only 11 exposures were visible, the rest were just grey. Most pictures i took were from outside in california weather. I know my shutter speed, aperture, and iso were fine and exposed properly. (i looked at the meter). Plz help me i dont know what to do or how to fix this.

What is some good editing software to edit a music video? I need it to have HD quality when I upload it to YouTube and stuff. I have a HD Nikon camera. When trying to upgrade my D5100 with latest Firmware - could not get camera to recognise firmware.

Simple answer was, the downloaded file did not show BIN file. Once you have downloaded the file and clicked run, make sure BIN is showing at end of doc, if BIN is not showing, you need to open with word document.

Will I benefit from making the transition to full frame DSLR Camera?

I first has a Nikon D70…then a D60 and now a D5100. I have 4 DX lenses. I really like the 5100 and what can be achieved within the price and I also produce small films of which 2 have been shown at film festivals.

I am considering jumping up to a Nikon D600 into the world of full frame. I choose the d600 because of weight as much of what I do is outdoors.

The question is, nowadays with DX being so good will I relaly see the benefit of jumping to FX format or will I resent spending the extra? Maybe someone has done the same as me and can give their opinion?

Are third party batteries bad?

I am getting a Nikon D3100 and need a spare battery. I want to pick up a Vivitar Battery (third party). I am getting it because it is cheap. I am just scared, if I use it, will it break my camera? I dont care about battery shortage, I just need something for those last hour of shoots. I just am worried about the camera. I am getting a VIvitar En-El14 battery. Is there a taboo against doing a lot of post in photography?

So, I'm a budding photographer loving every bit of it, and I know I should compose and set up my pictures so that what I shoot is as close to the final product that I want.

However, I am very particular about what I want, and I kind of resign myself to taking a shot so that I can post process afterward. Is this a terribly bad practice?

FYI, if you're curious, I'm running a Nikon D5200, 35mm f/1.8 AF-S Prime Nikkor, and I'm just about to get a my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X116 Pro DX II, post in Lightroom 4.4

Deciding on a DSLR camera?

I know there is a lot of rivalry between the Canon and Nikon brand, so I prefer that we stick to the facts. I currently own a Sony NEX camera and I love it, but it is time for something new.

So, I am looking for something not exactly top of the notch, but also not a beginners camera. Nothing more than $2,000 for the body and an average lens.

What I'm really looking for, is a decent amount of frames per second and great photos in low light situations. That, to me, would be a nice upgrade from the camera I have now. Of course there are other qualities I want, but I just want to see what cameras other people and why!

How to increase speed light (Nikon SB-910) power when it's set to remote?

I'm shooting portrait and set up my Nikon SB-910 remotely behind me on a stand so the light can bounce off ceiling to the model. However the photos come out dark. How do I increase the power of my speed light*?

FOR WHOEVER UNDERSTANDS NIKON ESPECIALLY NIKON D90 (MOVIE SETTINGS AND AUDIO PROBLEM)?

so here's the story

i had tried to set the exposure, aperture, diafragma, etc in video mode of NIKON D90

but it still wouldn't change! The brightness always same (if i was in a bright place, it would be really bright, and vice versa. So i couldn't get a normal brightness for the video!) and didn't make any difference although i had set it to high or low!

and also i had tried to record the video and THERE WAS NO SOUNDS AT ALL although the audio setting was already ON!

i had read the manual book page 170 but it didnt help AT ALL… The audio still disappeared, and i couldn't hear anything from the video although i was screaming a lot in the video.

i've tried to check out google, youtube and what not for the solutions but i didnt get what i need to solve this.

i need your help really soon because i must use this camera for footage day tomorrow. Please. :'(

Getting a new lens, should I keep my prime?

I have a Nikon D5200 and the Nikorr 35mm f/1.8 AF-S prime lens. So far, it's been wonders for me. But I'm looking to get some new glass, and I'm taking a liking to the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X116 Pro DX II.

While my prime lens has served me well, I can't fit as much into the frame without having to take several steps back, and sometimes, that's not an option. The prime lens is the only lens I have as I got body only.

That said, as photography is more of an amateur hobby for me, I want to cut down costs as much as possible. Therefore, I am considering selling my prime and just keeping the Tokina as my primary (and only) lens.

Should I switch from canon to nikon? - 1

I have a canon t1i that I got right out of highschool because it's what I used in my photography class and I was familiar with it, etc. I'm interested in upgrading out of the rebel series, so I was looking at the 60D but the more I researched the more I found Nikon cameras and found a review on the Nikon D5200 vs the t5i rebel. My photography teacher in highschool didn't like Nikon, but when I got a job at a photo studio that's what we used, and I used that camera more often than my own -- but I'm still not sure whether to change brands or not. I've read that Nikon does better in low light, and I often find myself shooting in-doors without any lighting. I use lots of natural lighting.

As for the type of Photography I'm in to -- I'm not sure. Where I worked I did families, children, glamour etc but it was all in a studio. I enjoy wildlife, but people just really stand out to me so I'm probably looking at artsy fartsy portrait photography.

I also have a budget of 800, so I can't jump to a pro series camera just yet -- lost my job at the studio and now work part time at a craft store -- so I'm making less than half what I used to. Oh, happy days!

Namely looking at the Nikon 5200 vs Canon 60D, I could possibly be interested in video -- that's what drew me to the 5200.

Lots of info, I know, but I could use the help. I know it's about the lenses, not the body, so if anyone has any insight of nikon lenses vs canon lenses that'd be quite alright.
Added (1). I'm not looking for video -- I was just stating that the capabilities of the two new cameras listed was a plus -- I know they are both very close. If you show someone a picture, they're not going to know what type of camera it was taken with -- this I know. It's not the camera, it's the user. I'm asking on a technicality, not on ability.

I only have my camera and my kit lens, so I won't lose anything by upgrading with a nikon.

Also, Sir, implying someone has a small intelligence won't help them make an educated decision on what camera to upgrade to. Thanks for trying, but don't play again:)

Can't decide between cameras?

Alright so I have a problem. I've been wanting to upgrade my point and shoot camera for forever, and finally just got the okay to do so with a vacation to Canada coming up and my mom wanting some quality photos. I've done some research, and I think I've narrowed it down to two cameras: the Nikon d3100 and d3200. My problem is that I don't have much DSLR experience, so I don't know which would be more beneficial to me. I found the d3100 for $509 (I've got about $230 in gift cards-birthday and Christmas money for the past two years that I've been saving for this purpose) and it comes with the 18-55 mm lens and the 55-200 mm lens. However, the d3200 for $500 seems to be better quality overall, but only comes with the 18-55 mm lens. I'd use this camera for my upcoming trip to Canada, as well as the photography class I'm starting up next school year, and sport events (equestrian sports and swimming mainly, if it makes a difference)
I just don't know which would be better based on what I would be using the camera for, so any advice from people with DSLR experience would be much appreciated. If I got the d3200 I wouldn't be able to get a second lens for at least another year because I'm spending basically all of my money paying for a trip to Germany to visit a friend.

1/125, f/8, ISO200 with Nikon D90, 60mm prime lens, SB-910 speed light.

How do I get brighter result without changing the shutter speed, aperture and ISO?

Fitting a FZ150 to a telescope?

I'd like to start doing Astrophotography down my Celestron 114eq.
I have a Panasonic DMC-FZ150 and have been taking some photos of space objects, however I'd like to start taking photos down the scope.

Because the lens cannot be taken out of the camera this causes a issue, I see things like this

(If my camera is not adequate for this I can use my dads nikon, it lets you take the lens out but he may be selling it soon so I'd rather not spend money on something I may not have for long. I also have a webcam, but I'd rather get high quality pictures)

Best Nikon lens for action shots of horses?

What is the best lens to get for taking action shots of horses mostly in the daytime light and somewhat in lower light? Also with a fairly good zoom, but not MAJORLY expensive.

How to fix my Nikon D300S?

I have turned on my Nikon D300S and the body lense is really blurry. I literally can't see anything past the lense except the colour of the thing i am pointing at. However, when I connect an actual lense, it works perfectly and clearly.

What is the problem with the body? Whenever i look through the eye hole thingy (without the lense), all I see is blur. But when I connect the lense, it is fine.

Would this be covered under the warranty, let me know.

I have always enjoyed photography as a hobby and have even worked in a studio. (a long time ago) I want to take my hobby up a notch and while the technical side of photography makes perfect sense to me I am struggling with the lighting portion. I feel the best way to get better with it is to go out and practice but I am not sure where to start with lighting equipment. I will be using a Nikon D7100 and would like to start with standard portrait work. As of now I will not be using it for professional work but the ability to move into pro work with my new equipment would be a plus. Any recommendations? Any thoughts on speedlights in particular? Nikon L820 Pictures Are Blurred?

I have recently aquired a Nikon L820, and taking photos without zoom is no problem, they come out crystal clear. However, when I zoom in, the picture is blurred, even when I keep my hand steady enough (there is also some in built gadget to counter the blurring of photos due to movement of the camera). Is there a setting or technique to stop blurred images when zoomed in?

Would a mirrorless Nikon camera be a good choice for a strictly landscape photography?

I have been doing research lately to find a good lens for landscape-milky way photography so the aperture need to be quite open to minimize star trails (keeping the shutter speed in less times). It also needs to be quite a wide lens to capture all of the milky way. I found a perfect lens for this, it's the Nikkor 1 10mm f/2.8 lens. It's only for the mirrorless camera. I don't own a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. I've used a DSLR in the past but I no longer have one. Would it be a good idea to pick up a mirrorless Nikon 1 camera? If so, which do you recommend as I can afford pretty much any Nikon 1 mirrorless cameras.

I've been concerned with one thing, that is the small sensor size on the mirrorless camera. Compared to a DSLR, the sensor is quite small. I am not knowledgeable on sensors but I've heard bigger sensors = better light gathering abilities. Of course, I'll be doing milky way landscape photography so this is important for half the time as I'll be shooting in the dark. The other times, I'll be doing sunrise/sunset landscape photography. Megapixels don't matter much unless you want to make billboard sized print which I won't be doing.

Recovered video cannot be played?

I have accidentally deleted a video on my windows 7 (originally taken on my Nikon camera), and I recovered it. The problem is that none of my video players (vlc, wmp, etc) can read it. Before the recovery, it could be played. Then, I figured out that in the file's "properties" on the third column, there were no data except for the name, size, location, date, etc.
How do I fix this and make it playable?

Nikon D5100 Error, release shutter button again when pressing life mode button?

Ive searched over the whole google, the problem is that the mirror is stuck? So the live mode cannot be launched. The camera shoots photos like always, but i cannot launch live mode due to this error. I have not a clue, i removed the lens, nothing is broken but i cannot enter live mode. This issue appeared all of sudden without reason and while ive found that its only some par ts that must be moved, i cannot be sure what should i do. Heading to Nikon is not an option for me as im not into paying a bunch of money to them for something that many people fixed on the web. Whoever knows what is that error and can help me without telling me accusations that i dont wanna pay is welcome.

2) Nikkor 50mm 1.8D

Using a nikon sb700 flash/led light with Westcott 7 Feet white/black umbrella? - 1

The sb700 obviously used for photography.
Anyway, I also own an LED light kit with 600 led bulbs. It seems pretty bright when lit up. I have ordered a Westcott 7 Feet umbrella with the white interior and black exterior.
My question then is, will any of these light sources be powerful enough to achieve an effective lighting with this umbrella considering it has the white interior?

-These will NOT be used at the same time.
For video I will use the led light and for photography I will use the flash.

- For photography it will be for portraiture or a small space, including a person.
- For video it will a similar situation.
Bottom line, it will not be used to light up an extremely large area, like a hallway, but more like part of a large room (video), or just a small staged area (photography).

I am aware that this may be up to me to test the equipment, but if for some reason any of these are not powerful enough, please recommend me light sources that are great quality but affordable.

How to fix this problem?

I'm trying to take pictures for my makeup portfolio. I've played around with the settings, tried natural lighting and artificial, etc. The best way to capture the colors is to use flash, but the problem is that it makes my eyebrow makeup look orange. I use Manual or Portrait and besides that problem, the pictures turn out great. I'm using a Nikon D5000 and also editing with Adobe Lightroom 5.

If you could give suggestions on how to either fix this problem on my camera or how to edit in Lightroom, that would be great. :D

Am i babying my camera too much?

this may sound silly, but i just got a Nikon D7100 a month ago and it is my pride and joy to be honest

i baby the damn thing, to the point where i am hesitant of using it too much to not wear it out lol

i don't want to wear out the shutter or other mechanisms too quickly

i am not taking MILLIONS of pics a day or anything, but i am a beginner and i usually snap several pics of the same target at different settings to see the difference, i have learned A LOT in a few weeks

What is the most preferble lens for landscape photography?

I'm thinking of getting a Nikon D5300. I am also intending to do some landscape photography as that is one of my photographic passion. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to afford a full-frame sensor DSLR though it would be better for landscape photography. So I can only stick with crop sensor DSLRs and it should still be suitable for landscape photography.

The most important tool for photography, the lens. Which Nikon wide angle lens would you recommend? I'd say 800 dollars or under for the lens only is my budget. I'd try to keep the cost down for the lens but they say you shouldn't try to bargain on a lens as they largely impact on the quality of the photograph.

I'm planning to go out of the city lights to photography the milky way in the Australian outback.

Hello, as the title says, i need suggestions to use wisely this gift! Im owning a Nikon d5100 body and a 18-105 mm lens that are damaged due to broken aperture blades:/ This gift is a God bl3ess for me right now and i'd like some suggestion from experienced photographers which lens should i choose now with my gift, what are the must have pieces for a begginer like me. Which dslr, to start of with?

I asked a previous question here. I did some research. Watching reviews and comparrison on you tube. And for my price point of $700
I've chosen these models.
Sony A58 there is a deal at best buy for the camera with18-55mm and 55-300mm lense for $699
Or Canon T3i Or Nikon 3200.
I'd be taking action shots most of the time.
I'd like to know your opinions, as I'm new to the Dslr world.

I've needed a professional camera for a while now but I'm not sure which is the best to get. I know brands like canon and Nikon are good but which type? Need to find aperture blades parts for my Nikkor damaged lens to replace, help?

So my Nikon 18-105mm lens have fallen down and the aperture ring and blades need replacement. Nikon service is asking too much money and id rather watch 100.000 videos on youtube of lens fixing and do it myself than pay much money! What i need is the aperture part from another faulty Nikon lens that im gonna find at ebay to have them replace my current damaged aperture blades. Im wondering what are the models that have the same aperture ring and blades part with Nikkor 18-105? My lens have 7 blades, so does the 18-55, but still im not sure if theyre having the same part installed as theyre different models. Any help?

Is the Nikon D5300 worth it?

Hello there!

I've been thinking about upgrading from the D5100 to a better camera, and I was looking at the Canon 60D for awhile but realized it would be more of a downgrade. Now my eyes are turned to the D5300, plus I have Nikon lens already so that saves me some money by buying just the body, and I was wondering if it was worth the upgrade. I am not professional and by no means am trying to be, however I do like taking great photos(I sell cameras for a living so I strive for quality) and I love taking videos for fun(Just with the family or something, nothing serious, but do like nice quality none the less).

The things I don't like about my camera that the D5300 improves…
-Poor video quality, and I understand that was one big upgrade to the D5200/D5300 from the D5100
-Can't crop my photos that much without causing grainy images(Due to only 16 megapixels I imagine).

Things I love about my D5100 that the D5300 kept…
-Tilt LCD Screen
-No lock on the Camera's Mode Dial

I haven't played with the D5300 that much at work, though I plan to go into the store and make sure it feels good in my hands.

Basically I am just wondering if the differences in quality are over exaggerated from the reviews I've read, or if they have improved significantly(Video, Ability to crop more thanks to the 24 megapixels, etc.).

Also if anyone has any other suggestions for a camera, please recommend no matter the brand! I love taking action shots, up close shots, inside with dim lighting normally, and outside ranging anywhere from the bright afternoon to dusk, so anything that fits that criteria! I normally use manual mode and manual focus and adjust my settings as I see fit.

Again, I'm willing to pay for quality, but nothing over $1000, and just want to know if this would be a good upgrade, or if there is something else I should be looking at.

I'm very disappointed at Nikon… Read description?

I bought a Nikon D5100 a year ago and the warranty expired on february, 2014.
Now I'm getting the "Press shutter release button again" error and I will have to send it to repair. It's not going to be cheap.
It's unbelievable that it happened just when the warranty expired. I had an old Fuji for 4 years and it never gave me headache.
I'm dumping Nikon and buying a Canon.
Canon users, what model should I get?
I don't know much about the brand, I thought Nikon was better.

How to repair a Nikon D3100 Lens?

See I accidentally dropped my camera it's a Nikon D3100 (not from too high) and the lens 18-55 mm got messed up, and now it sounds weird when I try to take a picture with it and well it doesn't take pictures. So i was wondering is there a way I can fix it by myself? If not then how much would the repair cost? Would it be cheaper just send it to someone that knows how to repair it or just buy another lens? In need of a good camera for gymnastics?

I have a Nikon L110 and it takes good close-ups of flowers and pictures of the sky but I also need a good camera for gymnastics, a low light no flash zone. I don't really want to switch to a cannon or anything I just need a camera that is good for all of these things. Someone I know is getting a Nikon d5200 and I've been looking into that camera but everything I've found is in hard to understand "camera talk" and I can't figure out if it will be good for what am describing. No, I don't know what ISO means or what mm of lens is good. All I know is names and settings. So if you would try to keep answers in simple to understand English that would help a ton.(no I dont have a price range but I don't want to spend thousands on a camera) so would the Nikon d5200 be a good one to get or what others should I look into?

Well… I am going for a trip and wanted to a camera before going. The time was short so i bought one today. I got confused between two of them. Of samsung and nikon. I bought the samsung one and now i am regretting because i should have bought the nikon one as it is a real camera company. :( Really… This is my first purchase for which i saved money from my pocket money. :( Feeling regretted. Which AF-S lens is best with Nikon d3200?

I am planning to buy a Nikon d3200 with 18-55mm lens and also either one of the below lens.

Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6G (4.3x) Lens
(or)
Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro

My expectation with the lens is that, it must have built-in motor as Nikon d3200 does not have motor to support other AF lens

When searching for lens, I have found some 70-300 mm lens cost much higher than the above two. For example, Tamron AF 70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD. It cost around 44,000.

I was assuming 70-300mm lens can do much more than a 70-200mm lens. Since the price was much different. Anyone could help me understand the difference.

I'm not much into photography, I need to buy a new DSLR camera for a friend as a Birthday present. They already have the Nikon D7000.

I have noticed that the Nikon D600 24-85mm is far too expensive than the D7000, I really don't know if these model number express the quality of the camera. (increasingly).

What camera is far best beyond the D7000 in regards to quality, best shoots… Etc.

Is it worth upgrading from a Nikon D5100 to a D7000?

I love my D5100, but my complaint is that it doesn't have a built-in focus motor. The lenses are expensive, I'm starting to think it's more advantage to pay more for a body and pay less for lenses. What do you think, will I get a lot in return with this upgrade? And will my AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G work on the D7000? It's basically the only lens I use. I'm mostly a portrait photographer.
I would have paid half the price for this lens if I had a D7000.

What DSLR is best for an amature wildlife/ landscape photographer?

So i have been taking pictures for a few years now on a kind of compact/ DSLR camera and i want to up grade to something better. I have been looking at the NIkon D3200 or the cannon 600D (im pushing towards this one, but only because i like the design), but i cant decide between the too and i don't know what lens i want to go with it.(the only lenses i like are about 500 - 1000 pounds but i could never justify spending that) I would like a lense with a big zoom as my current is about 25 to 50 mm (or something like that i know its up to 50mm) and i dont feel the range is big enough. My passion is to take wildlife and landscape photos and i don't care too much for recording videos and/ or pictures of people.

Could anyone recommend which one would be better for me and what lens would go well on them, my budget is about £500 - £600.

Added (1). My current camera is the samsung nx1000 i wasn't sure if it was a compact or a DSLR or a bit of both. The reason why i dont want it any more is because it has no view finder which i find extremely annoying and the addon's for it are extremely limited, i.e the selection of lenses to go on it. Although im only limiting my self to £600 at the moment it dosent mean that i wont buy a £1000 lens in the future.
