Can't decide of I should upgrade to a Compact or a Dslr?

Well I want to upgrade my Camera and I don't know ıf I should go for a Dslr or a Compact, If I go for a compact I will buy the Fujifilm x20, ıf I go for a Dslr I wıll either get the Pentax k30 or the Nikon d7100, Now I want ıt to be portable and not a hassle to carry, I want a view finder, Now I want ıt to be compact and lıght but I also want to take nıce photos etc.and I don't know my cousins reccomend Dslr's but I have my eyes set on the Fujifilm x20, I don't want to worry about lenses, but I'm also worrıed about the battery sıze I hear the d7100 can take 950 photos, that's alot for me: D so what should I do? the Dslrs or the Compact?

Nikon f mount body, pentax k mount lens?

I'm looking into getting a lens adapter for a nikon d50 that was given to me. I use a manual pentax slr camera and i have quite a few lenses. I don't want to invest in new glass so can I stick with what I already have and adapt? I was also wondering if it was possible to switch out the actual ring that is connected to the camera itself, the part the lens attaches to. Any info would be appreciated.

Does the canon t3i video work with the windows movie maker editing software?

I either want to get the canon eos rebel t3 or the Nikon D3100. They are both in my budget and great cameras from what I have read. But I have been leaning towards the canon. I want to make videos and take pictures with the camera but I heard that windows movie maker doesn't work with the canon rebel t3 videos.Is this true? Windows Movie Maker is the only editing software that I have because I do not own a mac. What should I do ???

Would it be reliable to buy this camera?

I wanna buy a dslr camera… i actually don't have much money and can't only give 450… the thing is that i saw a professional nikon camera on ebay with all the accessories, including a 28-80mm lens and a 70-300mm lens… and the charger, the bags, the tripod and everything else the only thing is that it has been previously used but in the description it says it is working and with zero defect…
my question is… should i buy it or just get something that cannot be that good but new? suggestions will be accepted

Hd camera isn't working?

I have a Nikon D5000 and when i take a video with it and upload it to my computer it says that the video is 720p but it looks more like 480p or 360p. I use iMovie as well.

Depth of field not working?

I have a Nikon D7000 paired up with a Nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens and I was finally ready to tackle understanding the dept of field but it doesn't seem to work? Is it the lens that doesn't really show the full effect?
Added (1). I can't show you samples if i don't really know what im supposed to be looking for. I guess that's what i'm also wondering, what am i looking for?
I only asked this question because i did read that depending on what your focusing on can make it come out differently.

Confused between Nikon D5200 and Sony SLT A58?

Hello everyone,
I'm a beginner in photography and looking for a nice entry level camera. I am very technical so I did plenty of research on internet about DSLR cameras and initially finalized D5200 by Nikon but I also like the Sony STL A58.

I like in A58:-
1. Can be charged via any USB power supply
2. I like the flip out screen of A58
3. Inbuilt stabilization and AF motor (not required to buy techie lens like of nikon AF/VR)

Since I've no experience in photography the following points are confusing me:-
1. A58 is 10% lesser in image quality than D5200
2. Its 20mp approx so 20% lesser in resolution than D5200(I can accept it if the overall output is as good as of Nikon D5200.)
3. Low light performance is not good as of D5200 (around 40% of difference) but its still better than entry level Canon.

Please help me with this, I can only accept if A58 if the image quality is approximately or similar to D5200, the other feature of A58 attracting me with its cheaper price

TT560 Speedlight flash and Nikon D3000?

I have a Nikon D3000 that I pride myself on being fairly knowledgeable about, until now. I ordered a kit off of amazon that included a Neewer TT560 Speedlite flash.In the simplest of terms, how do I get the flash to fire when I press the shutter button on my camera? There isn't anything connected to the flash, other than where it is connected to my D3000. Help please!

Which lens should I look at purchasing?

I have the Nikon D90, with the 18-105mm F/3.5-5.6 lens.
Now that I've learned how to shoot in manual mode, I'm looking to get a lens that's better with shallow depth of field, as well as a macro or maybe a filter for macro?
I see a lot of lenses with a small f stop number, but they're not zoom lenses as far as I can tell, and since that's what I am used to, I'm a little confused at how it's going to work.
So. Which lens for dop would be best?
Which lens for macro? Or should I just get a filter?
And if it's not a zoom lens, what do I need to know?
Added (1). I need the macro because I like taking close ups of flowers and such.
The lens for shallow dop is for portraits.

Nikon D7000 problem with the wireless transmitter?

Hello, I hope someone can help me in this.
I have a Nikon D7000 and a yongnuo wireless transmitter and an off-camera flash.
They were all working fine together until my son fidgeted with the camera. (I am not sure if he dropped it or just pressed the buttons. I am sure he did not change anything inside the camera menu, maybe just the buttons on the outside of the camera). But now the camera doesn't seem to send a signal to the transmitter. When I press the test button on the transmitter, the off camera flash is fired.when I connect the flash directly to the camera, it works too. But when the transmitter is on the camera and i click the shutter, the flash doesn't fire. Sorry if i am using the wrong technical words. Not a big expert.
I hope that makes sense to someone.

Added (1). Thanks to everyone answering but please remember that when I press the transmitter's test button, it fires the flash.So i am assuming that the connection between the transmitter and the flash is OK.
The shutter button of the camera is not firing the flash when it is OFF CAMERA.

Yongnuo flash on Nikon D3100?

I ourchased a Yongnuo YN560III flash for my Nikon D3100 but I cant get it to fire when I take a picture! I have placed the flash unit on the hot shoe. What am I missing? The camera menu doesnt mention use of an external flash.

Speedlight radio trigger problems.?

I bought 3 Cactus V5s recently to go along with my Nikon SB-600 and SB-700.

I'm shooting a wedding soon, and here's my setup plan for the reception- I'm going to have my SB-600 on a light stand with a V5 on one of the corners of the dance floor… then I'm going to have a V5 on my Nikon d300s and my SB-700 on top of that with a lightsphere.

Here's the problems I'm experiencing:

1: Sometimes both of the speedlights won't fire..If I press the button on the V5 they both will fire, but not when pressing the shutter release button.if I remove the V5 from my camera and reattach it usually that's an immediate fix.

2: Also, sometimes my SB-600 will fire, when pressing either the shutter release, or the V5 button, but my SB-700 won't.It seems like turning both speedlights off, and turning them back on starting with the SB-700 fixes that.

These are really annoying issues. The reason I bought radio triggers was so that I didn't have to deal with flashes not firing. Does anybody know the cause of this and how it can be prevented?

When do I need to get a business license for photography?

I'm 17 and have been taking photos for a couple of years now. I have had my work in art shows, and am taking senior pictures this upcoming month, so I am not a total newbie at this. I have invested in a nice D3000 Nikon, two tripods, and two lenses. I've been holding off on selling my nature and portrait photography, because I cannot seem to figure out when I need to register as a business.Do I do it when I am 18, is there a certain amount of money I can take without needing to register? Shutter Lag AF50mm on D100?

Old Nikkor AF-50mm mounted on D-100 with App Locked at F/22, in M mode even at high shutter speed of 350 n above, still the shutter lag is present making camera shake evident in pics. I am relatively new to photography. I dont have this problem on the G or DX lenses.

Lens to get for a nikon d800?

So I just upgraded from a d7000 to a d800, got rid of my dx lenses and only have 2 left. A nikon 50mm 1.8g and a tamron 28-75 2.8… I want a really nice sharp fast lens for the d800, was thinking of getting a nikon 24-70 2.8 but my tamron covers that range.

So how about getting a nikon 14-24 2.8 wide angle lens. And maybe some other lens in the future.

Would that be a good choice for a first high end lens?

What size adaptor rings do I need?

I have a Nikon D5100 and the lens I'm using currently us a Nikon DX 55-200 I bought a micro filterer which is a 52 mm and it didn't fit although the seller said it would. Anyhow I need to get an adapter ring although I'm confused on what size I should get it sense apparently 52 mm doesn't fit. My brother gave me his old Nikon D1x a while ago as a gift, but the camera refuses to turn on. I thought it was because of the battery, so I charged it but still nothing.Is there anything I could do? My parents think I'm a bad person?

Hi guys! I'm 17 years old and just about to start my senior year of high school. For the last couple of months I had a few problems with my parents. I'm working as a freelance web designer online and provide 75% of the cash for my family because my mom doesn't have a job and my dad has a company but is having some problems with it.My parents caught me smoking today(my mom caught me about a month ago and I told her I'd quit but didn't) and yesterday I came home buzzed from drinking a few beers. I'm not from the US. The people here are different, a lot of prople smoke tobacco and I only know a few friends that don't. The same is with alcohol. They really think I'm a bad person because I do the stuff that is actually really normal to my friends parents (staying late night out is ok for other parents but I can stay out only till 10AM). I know that those things are bad but you can't find friends if you're not like that. I don't have friends to talk about web design or photography (I shoot a few shots with my, self earned, nikon from time to time) because this is a really small town in Bosnia. Last night they spent 3 hours talking to me about drinking and I only come home buzzed (not drunk) once or twice in a year. I havea feeling that they don't respect that I'm actually the one that brings in the money each week! They are making everything I do sound serious and my mom often reads my messages on faceboook when I leave my computer on. Any suggestions?

Best photo lens to use shooting indoor photos?

I have a Nikon D3000 and am looking for the best lens to use shooting indoor sports and low level game lighting. I have a 55-300 mm lens now and it's not getting the job done. Any help would be appreciated.
Added (1). When I say isn't getting the job done, I mean that the photos are dark and grainy. But that's because of the apature setting on the camera is my guess.

Buying a D600 from Cameta?

After a lot of researching I am looking to upgrade to the D600, and I found it on Cameta, factory refurbished, for just over $1.5 and this includes a 1 year manufacturer warranty.

What would happen if the camera were to break or have a problem after the 1 year warranty? Would I be able to send it in to Nikon to be repaired even though I didn't buy it from them?

What type of Camera would be best for me? - 2

Hello there!
I'm a seventeen-year-old photographer. I've been taking pictures for six years now and I'd like to start a business with my photography. With that being said, I'm looking for a new camera because my current Nikon isn't fulfilling my needs.

Here are some factors in choosing my new camera:

1) I've had no training whatsoever, but I'm willing to teach myself (i.e.learning how the camera works and all that entails) through the process of using it, because I REALLY don't want to have to buy another, more complex camera in the future when I could be good /now/. I'd rather have a professional camera and work my way up to getting the best out of it, rather than visa versa.

2) I have a tight budget. I can probably do $550, but anymore than that simply won't do.
***HOWEVER, in the case I can find (whatever type you suggest) of camera on Ebay and pay for less, please go ahead and list the best, most professional one!***

3) Lenses. Tell me all you know. Lens Packs? What do you suggest for someone with a tight budget?––as well as what do you suggest for someone trying to take AWESOME pictures?

How to open pictures from a camera that won't open when pluged in?

I have a Nikon camera and when I plug it in to computer its not opening to download the new pictures I took and I can't figure out how to get them ?

If I switch to a full-frame camera can I still use my old lenses?

I have a Nikkor 18-200mm f/4.5-5.6 and a Nikkor 50mm 1.8D… I am wanting to upgrade to the Nikon D600, a full-frame camera, especially because it handles high ISOs extremely well. I tested it out at my camera shop and loved it.
Would I still be able to use my 18-200mm and 50mm on the D600?
Added (1). I'm also trying to understand the difference between FX/DX lenses.
Are there any cons to a full-frame camera?

I want to make sure I'm thoroughly informed before I make the decision to buy the new camera.
Added (2). Matt - because my current camera sucks, it's 10 years old and extremely frustrating to work with.It is impossible to work in low light with this camera, even with the 1.8, because it can't handle any ISO above 400. And even 400 is iffy. I want to work in a lot of situations with low light, but I can't with this camera. I have considered upgrading to a lot of different cameras but the D600 is the one I really like.
Added (3). The 50mm 1.8D is an FX, so I wouldn't consider that bad glass in front of a good camera :) I mostly shoot with the 50mm.
Right now, upgrading the camera is my number one priority, and then my next step will be FX lenses.Is there an FX lens that is the near equivalent (in zoom range, that is) of the 18-200mm?

How to avoid shadows in portrait photography?

I have the Nikon D5100 and I'm going to be doing some indoor group shots and head shots soon. I'm going to be using the built in flash, which I know isn't ideal, up against a white backdrop. What can I do (other then positioning the people farther away from the backdrop) to avoid shadowing?

Nikon 1 lens with manual focus?

I have a nikon 1 j1 and I am going into an intro to photography class that requires me to have manual focus. The lens I currently have can not manually focus but I know the camera has the capability to manually focus.Do any of the new Nikon 1 lenses have the ability to be focused manually or do I need to buy the adapter and another Nikon lens. If I do need to buy the adapter do I have to buy the Nikon brand lens adapter or is there a third party brand that I can purchase for cheaper? Thanks so much and any information is helpful.

Is this nikon lens better than my old one?

So basicazlly, i went into a shop wanting an upgrade on my lens for my Nikon d5000 (I have the standard stock lens).My budget - 200 pounds.

From what i can remember, he pointed out the 18 - 70 mm nikon AF-S lens offers better optics and image quality than my stock lens.

He also pointed out a sigma lens, which he said was even better, but only if you were to obswerve the image to a huuge extent.

I just want to know, is the 18 - 70 mm the best option? Aany examples?

Also, any other optons you guys could recommend? Looking for sharpness, auto focus is not an issue for me, possibly some kind of zoom, but i could probably go without if need be.

How to autofocus on kit lens?

Hi everyone,
I have nikon d3100 with kit lens 18-55
How can i autofocus, i mean i want to shoot an item how do i set the camera and lens to do the focus? Is this possible?
My lens have a switch A-M which i am guessing is autofocus-Manual right?
When i do the switch to A and i am trying to shoot something, looking through the viewfinder or the screen my item is not in focus.
If the lens is switch to A doesht this mean that it should autofocus by itself?
What else do i need to do, change something in menu?
Please help if you know

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I have a number of prime and zoom lenses for my current (cropped sensor) nikon DSLR camera. I'm taking a class in film photography and I have to buy a 35mm film SLR camera. I do want to stick to nikon.Is it possible for me to invest in a body only and use the lenses I already have? Or perhaps buy lenses that will be compatible with both my dslr and SLR? How do I know if they are compatible?

Hi there!

My 11 year old daughter is a tomboy and wants a hobby! Her older brother will not let her touch his video games so I am getting her one for Christmas.

Camera's EVF too dark?

So, guys. I'm a newby to photography, specially analog.My uncle lent me a Nikon FM10 that he used on college, years ago, and it's pretty awesome, but I have a problem. The lens are perfect, I just cleaned them, but when I look on the EVF (I don't know if this term is used to analogs too, it's that place where you look to take the photos: P) it's too dark, it's a problem when I try to take a photo. I have another analog camera and it doesn't happen to it (it's an Olympus Trip 35).Is it normal for this camera in special? Because I have already cleaned the mirror too. Maybe fungi? What should I do? Because I really want to use it. And I'm sorry if I sound like a complete outsider. Thanks

Best settings for low light area?

I'm doing a project for school on the Baltimore aquarium so I need pictures of it. I'm going down there this weekend and I was researching best settings so the pictures will come out well even though the lighting is super dark in there. I have a Nikon D5100 with the lens it came with (18-55 f/3.5)
From what I found out, it's Better so have f/2 or lower.
I'm new to this camera so I'm not really sure what my settings should be at. I already know I'm gonna have to keep the ISO between 400-800 so it won't get too gritty. But idk what to put the other settings at.

Where can I find a rear lens cap for my Nikkor 18-200mm?

Since I now have a second lens that I plan on using a lot, my 18-200mm won't be on my camera 24/7 like it currently is. I only have a cap to protect the front of it, I don't have one to protect the back.My new lens, the 50 1/8, comes with a cap for both front and back.My 18-200 didn't come with a rear cap.
I googled "Nikon 18-200mm Rear Lens Cap" and I keep seeing stuff about rear lens caps LF-1, 2, 3, and 4 and none of it makes any sense to me. How do I know which is the right one?

Is a used Nikon d50 worth $300 for a beginner?

It would come with 28-80mm and 70-300mm lenses. I tested it out and it works fine, so would it be a good deal?

One more question: Do you think the lenses that come with the d50 would work on a newer model if I eventually upgrade to a modern version.

A Nikon camera good quality?

I am looking for a camera, preferably Nikon brand. I want it to have a clear picture that doesn't make it too white and contrast all off. I just want one that takes a good picture. Me and my friend are going into wedding pics. We've done a few so far and everyone happy.My mate as a nikon d7000. I have a canon 500d atm with the standard lens a 50mm and 10-24mm wich I like but is not the most useable. I dont know wether to up grade or change to nikon. I feel my camera shows its limitations in those situations and I really like my mates d7000. I thought about getting a 60d but some things ive read seem to say its not much better then what I have. Purchase DSLR Camera Help?

I'm looking into buying a new DSLR Camera, and i have a few questions. I'm a relative beginner to DSLR Camera's and i'm looking into two camera's, the Nikon D3200 or the Nikon D5100, but i'm more interested in the Nikon D3200.My second question is whether to buy the Nikon D3200 Bundle, which has an included 18-55mm VR Lens. Or i could just buy the D3200 body, and buy a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G lens, which i have heard is a great all purpose lens.

Im looking for a camcorder that has all this-?

I shoot Nikon and have an 18-200mm and in a couple days will also have a 50mm 1.8d. What are the most common filters, and what are they used for? Are there any that I should have for my lenses?
Added (1). When I'm searching "67mm UV filter Nikon" on Google I am getting a very wide range of price results(from $8 to over $30), why would this be?

Good New Camera/Camcorder for me?

I currently have the Canon Powershot SX500 IS, which is a fine camera. I also have the Nikon D70S, but that doesn't shoot video. I need a good camcorder OR camera, with a LCD monitor that flips out, so I can see myself in the videos I am filming. (I shoot videos for youtube, and I need to SEE myself in the frame.) I need to buy and LCD viewfinder?

So I have a canon camera, but I use it now to only shoot video, because I have the NIKON D70S, and that doesnt shoot video. I need what they have on camcorders- and lcd viewfinder screen thing that flips out so that if you are filming yourself, you can see youself. Right now, I just have to place a mirror behind the screen which is very annoying. Could I buy one of those to put onto my camera… or do i have to buy a new camcorder.

Downloading Nikon d3100 images to a computer (Mac)?

Hi! So, I recently bought a Nikon d3100 dSLR camera, and I'm really enjoying it. I am just sort of confused about how to download the images I've taken onto a computer (I have a Mac). Which DSLR Camera to buy? Need advice!

I REALLY need some advice. Your help will be appreciated.

Lets get to the point. I have decided to buy a DSLR camera for the first time. Though I love photography, but I have less information on the subject and the equipment at this point. That is why I am having a hard time choosing a DSLR.

First off, I will be needing this camera for normal indoor pictures (Family, Friends, Events… ) and also outside photography, I want to experiment on the street, in the nature as I have lots of interest in it. Will also be needing video recording.

As I am an amateur, so I don't wanna get a camera I won't be able to operate. And also i don't have a big budget.

I did some research and found some models. But can't really decide which will be better for me at this point and in the coming years.

So I found these models:

Nikon D5100 + 18-55 VR Lens --- € 499.

Canon EOS 600D + 18-55mm DC --- € 439.
Canon EOS 600D + 18-55mm IS ll Lens --- € 479.
Canon EOS 600D + EF-S 18-135mm IS Lens --- € 699.

Nikon D3200 + AF-S DX 18-55mm VR --- € 439.
Nikon D3200 + AF-S DX 18-55mm VR + AF-s DX 55-200mm + Bag --- € 599 (A local shopping mall is offering this).

Nikon D5200 + 18-55mm --- € 649.

These are the cameras which I thought might fulfill my needs. But if there are other similar cameras in this range then PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Well first I narrowed it down it to Nikon D5100 (18-55mm) vs Canon EOS D600D (18-55mm IS ll). And and thinking of getting one of these AND buy TAMRON 70-300MM F/4.0-5.6 DI LD NIKON AF-D (149 €). I read good reviews about this lens.let me know if its a GOOD IDEA? To get this lens with these cameras (and others)?
Its really hard to choose between these two, as both are pretty same. First I was leaning towards D1500, as it has more live effects, and I read some reviews, and people were preferring this over 600D.
But then, I think 600D has better video quality, specially that Crop mode seems to be handy. On the other hand D5100 has more effects which you can apply live, and also its easy to switch between video and still shooting.
One other important difference between the final result from these cameras. Photos taken by 600D seem to be more colorful (I don't know the technical term), and I like it.
For example:

In these results, I really like 600D here.So will this difference remain like this in the final results among these two? I know this sounds stupid, but I an unaware of the technical terms.

After these two, there is Nikon D3200. This one is also appealing, as it is new, and from what I have heard is that it's user interface is much simple.
How much better is this one from the D5100? Well, I can get this in 438€ with 18-55mm lens, rather than spending 499€ on D5100 with the same lens. And if I spend more I get 55-200mm lens with it. But the only thing: D3200 doesn't have the Flip Screen, which comes very handy while making videos.

So which one will be a smarter choice: D5100 or D3200?

I don't think that Nikon D5200 has some huge difference or some mega plus point against the others. But if you think that this camera is good in the long run, then please let me know.

So what do you guys think of it. Which one of these will be a smarter choice: Nikon D5100, D3200 or Canon EOS 600D? Please also do keep the battery life in mind while giving your review.
If there are other worthy cameras, do tell me about them.
And also I am thinking of getting TAMRON 70-300MM F/4.0-5.6 DI LD NIKON AF-D with any camera I buy.Is this good idea? I know it won't get the best results, but I heard good about this.So let me know.

@Andrew I agree with you that all the newbies look for Nikon and Canon. Its same with me, and I also admit that it will take time for me to understand these DSLR cameras. And its also true that owning a DSLR camera will never make u a better or even a good photographer.
In my case I am looking for products from these companies, as they have better service where I live.
And due to my very less knowledge, I am starting off from entry level DSLR.

Problem on waterfall photography? - 1

Hi guys i'm using Nikon D7000 55-300mm lense, i went to shoot waterfall at that place sunlight was too high, and i tried to capture it and my camera setting was

I would like a new camera because i am going to start creating videos, and im not sure which camera is best, ive looked up the nikon D800, but i thought it looked a bit old fashioned, anyone know of any other good filming cameras? Thanks :)x

Nikon D3000 error press shutter release button again?

I got the Nikon d3000 for christmas.and i was just taking a normal picture.the setters were on auto which i never use but for some reason i just had it on auto.i took a picture, it worked but then it said error press shutter release button again.and every time i press it it makes a weird noise and doesn't take a picture.i'm really scared that its broken! but i didn't even do anything! it didn't drop or anything! :( what do i do? can i fix it? or call nikon or something?

What's wrong with my camera? - 2

I'm just getting into film so excuse me if this is dumb but I've looked in the manual and I can't find anything. I have an old Nikon F70, and I'm using expired film until I can get more, which the film is probably at least 5 years. I'm getting more today and I was using some of the film, which I thought was unused, and was working fine, taking pictures like normal until I pressed the shutter release to take a picture this morning and it didn't work.It didn't sound the shutter. And at first I thought we might have used up all the film but then remembered it had 24 exposures and we only took at most ten. And this is the Kodak 35mm film and it had the leader sticking out when I got to it, and anyhow, when the film does run out, it notifies you and it hadn't said it ended yet. What's going on with my camera? Thank you to anyone that answers.
Added (1). And I've also wanted to rewind the film just in case it was but didn't want to waste it if it hadn't run out. What should I do?

What f mount lens for my nikon d5000?

So, i'm looking for an upgrade from my standard nikon 18 - 55 mm lens. Thin is, i can't really justify spending over 250 on this, (So 250 max).

I suppose i just want a better quality lens, which takes sharper images etc.It would be ideal to have an auto focus option on it, but i'm really not fussed, if sacrificing auto focus means i can send more on a better lens, so be it. Preferably, i'd like it to be a zoom lens, around the 18 - 55mm mark.

I don't care if it's a modern or old lens, as long as it's better than my standard one. Any body got any reccomendations? Thanks.

Is There A Fault With My Nikon D3100?

I've just bought a 2nd hand Nikon D3100 18-55mm digital camera. However, when I take a shot, insert the 512Mb Integral SD card into my PC, the images blur/pixelate when I zoom in, no matter what programme I employ.
Is there a setting I'm missing here, or does the lens, and or camera have a fault?

Should I worry about dslr shutter count?

So I recently ordered a Nikon D5100 from a top-selling shop on eBay. The camera was listed as brand new body only and the accessories. I received it today and I checked the shutter count using two different sources and both of them tell me that the shutter count is 2110. I am a little worried about if I should worry about the shutter count. The camera was listed as brand new and but was in fact used to take 2110. Should I message the seller and tell them to send me a new camera or should I just not even worry about it? Thanks in advance

Help needed! - can't decide what to do, need proper advice?

Although it might seem like I already know the answer to my problem, I'd still like to get some advice.

The problem:

I've got $1, 200 and I'm trying to decide whether to buy a camera (Nikon D7000/7100) or upgrade my PC. which if I were to do so, it'd be a total of $1700 for the PC (I already invested in a graphic card - $412).

Photography for me is a hobby as of right now; I'm studying Graphic Design and I do like the creativity involved with photography, specially for Long Exposure, and night landscape which are my two favorite categories/techniques to do.As for the computer, I'd like to say I am an above average gamer, I use my current computer almost every single day for 2 things only, browse the internet and gaming.

Now, I already have a camera (Nikon D5000) and a gaming PC (quad/8gb ram/GTX 770, etc.) but I'd like to upgrade to something a little better.

Bad thing about the camera is that it's family borrowed, so I just have it for an indefinite amount of time until the person who owns it wants it back, so technically I do not own a camera of my own.

Feel free to advice me in anyway possible, will listen to anything and everything, thank you so much in advance!

Hookah smoke and camera equipment?

I am a photographer, and this Saturday I may be photographing a friend's performance gig at a Hookah bar. I have never been to a hookah bar and do not know how smokey the bar can get. I shoot with a Nikon D5100 and a Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 lens. Will the hookah smoke harm my equipment? I will have my camera bag handy to contain the camera when it is not in use and keep it safe.

Exposure differences in Nikon's ViewNX and camera Raw 5.0 (photoshop)?

I usually filter my images in ViewNX to decide what to edit. Then, in Photoshop I open Bridge, and from there, I open the NEF (raw) images in Camera Raw 5.0. But as soon as I do that, my images are overexposed. Camera Raw uses the default setting, and then the exposure is on 0.00. When I tap Auto, it changes to about -0.50. But then under exposed. Please help! I cant change every phot's exposure setting.In ViewNX (and on my camera) it is perfectly exposed…
Added (1). Even in Bridge, the photos seem overexposed.

Wide angle shots and blurness?

Hello all,
I have a Nikon D800 with Nikkor 24-70mm lens.My problem is that my wide angle shots (usually group pictures) lost little bit sharpness after zooming 50%. They appear tact sharp till 50%. Please guide me what mistake I am making with wide angle shots.

Dslr suddenly taking low resolution photos?

I have a nikon dslr camera which has always taken great pictures but today for some reason the resolution was very low on the pictures i took a few hours ago and i'm sooo disappointed! i hadn't messed with any of the settings or changed the resolution.before the dimensions on all my pictures were about 4, 000 x 3, 000 (rounding a little) and now they're like 500 x 400 D: can anyone please tell me how i can fix this! or make the quality of the photos i took higher? i really don't want this to happen again, i don't understand it happened in the first place ugh.

Camera Store at New Zealand to buy Nikon D7000 DSLR?

I have this photo of me from my first day of senior year at HS in my photography class?

It was taken from an expensive nikon camera.It was my first day of photography class and someone else in the class took the picture of me.It would mean a lot if you can help me out a bit by altering the photo by slimming my face and making it look a little thinner and cleaner because this photo is special to me and I was a bit heavy back then :( Your help would be highly appreciated. Oh, and the eyes are dark since the photo was taken from a wrong angle? It would be helpful if you can photoshop that by brightening it? Making some changes. Please. Thank you and here's the link.

Camera for shooting short films/youtube videos?

Converting RAW to JPEG photos?

I have a Nikon D5100 and my friend told me to go to RAW photos, so when I did and uploaded them onto my computer, I can't get a hold of any of them whatsoever. I want to convert them back to JPEG and I am trying a few options, but I honestly have no idea how to. Any help on how to convert? (My computer is an HP… if that helps any).

P.S: I know how to take photos, I'm just not an expert at anything file-wise.

Camera Help Canon Rebel t4i?

Nikon D3000 and people just assume I know things about cameras. I do not. But anyway~

So my boss bought a Canon EOS Rebel t4i, and it seems to be missing a main piece, I think? She had the body, two lences, and a few other pieces like cords etc. But it's missing the main big clunk of a lens that attaches to the camera? I don't know what it's called or where to find it, but here's a picture of the main pieces it came with:

Polaroid Camera: Buy or not?

I want to buy a camera and I'm 14, but I don't want it to be expensive. The polaroid fujifilm camera is inexpensive, and also seems like it does a good job. I don't have that many opportunities to take photos, but when I do, I would like a nice camera to be able to use. Compared to buying Canon or Nikon for £200, I can buy a polaroid camera for about £50/£60 which is amazing. I like that it prints on the wee rectangular bits of film so you can write on them and create memories. Many people have talked about them and said they are good for that sort of thing. The only doubts about them are 1. The film is really expensive 2. You can't choose to print the picture or not, which makes wasting film easier. 3. You can't post the pictures online or anything because you only have a solid copy of the photo.

Can you please give your opinion on whether they are worth buying for the amount of money I would spend on film. If you don't think I should buy this camera, can you please give alternative cameras that are good cameras but for a low price?

Why does my SD Sony card makes too many folders for saving photos from my camera?

I have a Nikon camera and when I copy photos from SD card the photos are in folders named Nikon 100, Nikon 101. If i cut the photos to the computer, the folder stays empty and no pictures are saved in that one and new ones are saved in new made folders… So right now i have folders from Nikon 100 to Nikon 120. Should i delete the old folders or?

Nikon 3100 pictures are coming out black?

I have previously asked this question before but I did not get the answer that I was looking for.
A couple of weeks ago I have started to face difficulties with my camera. When I went to go take a picture the picture came out black ( yes I have taken off the cap ). And my live view is also black. I have never dropped the camera before so i would love to know what is wrong with my camera. Thank you.
Added (1). Yes i have looked through the view finder it is not black what so ever.
but the pictures are still coming out black and that is what i don't understand.

How to turn self timer off on a Nikon d80? help this isn't my camera!

I was playing around with my dads camera just taking some selflies:) but all of sudden self timer came on and I'm not sure how I did it? Is there one button you can press to turn it on and off please help:) also I didn't go into the menu or anything so it must be one or two buttons? :)

Best zoom lense for Nikon D-90 for capturing the milky way?

I have a Nikon D-90 and I use a Tamron AF 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC lense. I shoot a lot of action sports shots (hockey) but I want to shoot the milky way and I was considering getting a longer zoom lense however I don't know what to get.plus budget wise the ones I liked are out of reach. What do you recommend.It seems everything I read suggests an aperture of 2.8. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.My current lense is almost 5 years old and I've probably shot over 50, 000 pictures of more with it so not sure how long it's going to last. Mine is an older model and the filter size is 72mm.

Nikon D3200, Sony a58 or something else for video and sport photography?

Alright so I've had a Sony a33 for the past two and a half years but yesterday it inexplicably and "unrepairably" died. Unfortunately I am due to leave for Sweden in 2 days and could not fathom going to such a spectacular country without a DSLR. This leaves me with the daunting task of choosing and purchasing a new camera in under 48 hours.
I use my DSLR to shoot everything; landscapes, sports, portraits, video, etc.but as an amateur videographer and sports enthusiast those aspects are the ones I care about the most (video ESPECIALLY). Today I purchased a Sony a58 without planning it just to have a camera but once I returned home with it (haven't unboxed it yet) I started having some doubts wondering if I should have purchased the Nikon D3200, or perhaps something completely different like a Canon T3i.
I have tried doing some research online but have yet to come across reliable information, as I am seeing many different opinions and contrasting ideas… Your input is welcome and VERY much appreciated.

Just bought a new camera and it's not working properly?
