How to get a wider aperture on Nikon D3100?

I have a nikon d3100, with a nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens on it, and I can only figure out how to get to a max of f5.6 for the aperture, but the lens website says its possible to get a 3.5, I've done it in the past but I cant remember how and I can't figure it out. Neither aperture settings or shutter settings or manual lets me, any help? Thanks

Canon 60D good for Live concert shooting?

So I've been thinking about upgrading from a better camera than I have now which is the Nikon d3100.My photography is focused mostly on live band performances and I was looking for a camera that was also good with video. I've been considering purchasing the nikon d5100 also. Any opinions? Is the 60d going to be good for low light situations? Thanks (:

What lenses can i use on a nikon f80?

I have a Nikon 3200d with a lens (18-55m) on and a Nikon F80 with a 28-100mm lens on. I swapped the lenses over and they worked fine - is this the case with all of the lenses, that I can use the newer Nikon lenses on my old film Nikon? I want to buy a wider prime lens like a 35mm, and so it would be great if it turns out I can share between them!

Spot on Dslr Viewfinder but not on images?

I was recently taking pictures with my dslr (Nikon D3100) and noticed that there was a mark (spot) on my viewfinder next to the far left focal point. I took shots anyway and reviewed them on my computer and noticed that there weren't any marks on any of the images. Any advice?

Why is my new Nikon camera take pictures that are always out of focus?

About a month ago i purchased a new Nikon DSLR, the D5100. Generally i like it a lot, but i find that when im in the midst of taking a picture, it will be crystal clear when i look through the lense or on the screen, but then as soon as i take the photo, it will turn out blurry and out of focus. Also sometimes the lighting will be perfect and then as soon as i take the photo it will turn out really dark. Any Ideas why that is? Its extreamly frustrationg.

I have a nikon d5100 with kit lens 18-55mm..am
planning to purchase a new telezoom lens for it.
my budjet is low (maximum 10k)..am
considering sigma and tamron 70-300mm..but

sigma have another version of this lens with APO

around 15k..so which is better sigma or tamron?
and wat's APO? is it really matters? design wise i like tamron.

Problem with my battery grip (nikon d5100)?

Hello,
I just recently purchased a Nikon d5100 as well as a battery grip I purchased online. The problem is the generic batteries are easy to remove from the grip, however, the official Nikon battery is very difficult to remove.It does not pull out when I push the little tab. Also, it seems like the d5100 is only detecting one battery, rather than both of them. If you have any suggestions, they would be much appreciated. Thank you.

How to convince parents to let me get a second camera?

This might, and probably will sound really spoiled, but a few months ago i bought a nikon d5100 with my own babysitting money/allowance, and i want to also buy a gopro hero3, with my own money, of course. They both do completely different things for ex. The dslr weight 700g whioe the gopro weighs 70. The dslr is professional for photography, while the gopro can be used casually, underwater, and strapped all over you for cool videos. Plus, to take pics with my friends, i dont want to carry around a heavy dslr all the time, and my phone doesnt have a camera in it. I tried telling my mom and she called me stupid for wanting a second camera as if im starting a collection, and i said they have completely different uses, and plus you've never bought me a new phone (i always get handmedowns, and by my age my brother had 3 phones, first hand) so could i just get this thing i want! And she said spend it kn soemthing much more useful, dont waste it… Flr those of u who will agree with my mom, ill gladly take ur thoughts, just as long as you also answer my actual question, please.

Also in trying to put a wide lense like whats used to make movies and music videos do they even make those for these kind of cameras?

Nikon d5000 still worth buying?

So I want to buy a dslr, I've been wanting one for a few years now but I finally saved up and can finally afford one, preferably less than $650 though, but I may be okay with a bit more if its worth it.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Nikon d5000 or canon t3i/t2i. I know these cameras have been out for a few years already so are they still worth buying? Is three anything around the same range worth getting instead? Also, if I buy it and don't like it, would it be relatively easy to sell back on say eBay or Craigslist?
