Help with Shutter Speeds for Nikon D5100?

So I want to take a VERY long exposure photo.Is there a mode where I can press the shutter release button and just walk away so it keeps my shutter open for about 10 mins? I'm not talking about bulb mode, in which i hold it down for that length. I want to walk away and sit somewhere else while my camera is working its magic. Thanks

I have a Nikon D800 can you help?

On the D800. The on/off switch question. The switch has three setting, off, on, and a light bulb symbol. What does the light bulb symbol mean and what is its function? Can not find it anywhere in the owners book.

My Nikon Speedlight sb-700 keeps flashing Low Battery?

It would flash "Low Battery" even when I installed fresh ones. I haven't had a chance to use it much but I've bought it over a year ago so the warranty has expired. If it doesn't flash "Low Battery" then I would be able to use it 3-4 times and start flashing "Low Battery" again.

Where can I send it to have it repair? I've used it less than 100 flashes.
Added (1). I'm using the AA battery from Costco. The brand is Kirkland. Would this cause it malfunction?

Do Clip-on mics work with the Nikon D3100?

I own a Nikon D3100 and have just learned that no external microphones can be put together with the microphone. This is rather upsetting because I bought the camera mainly for film. Are there other ways to improve the audio (Do not tell me to record the audio sepretely and then sync it in with the video. I do not have the equipment for this.My main question is can I use Clip on mics etc.
Added (1). Can someone please just tell me how to improve the audio on my Nikon D3100?

1100d camera upgrade?

I want to upgrade to one of these 3 cameras, i am not going any higher than £500 for just the body.
Nikon D3200
T4i/ canon 650d
Canon 60d

Or any other suggestions.

What is the difference between AF-S and AF lenses?

I am looking to buy nikon 70-300mm lense for nikon d3100, i am unable to find which one to choose either AF-S or AF lense because AF-S lense price is around INR29000 where as AF lense price is around INR 7000 why this much cost difference, can i go for cheaper one is it suitable to my gear?

Looking for camera with preview of shot before shot is taken?

Hi,

I'm looking for camera with preview of the shot (with settings applied) before shot is taken, does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for something similar to the Nikon 1's Live Image Control. I want this feature because I like to take nightscapes, and I wish I could adjust the shutter speed and see the effects on the picture immediately without having to take a shot first. Also, I hope that the camera would have good low light performance.

As for size, preferably a light camera. Something about the size of the G1X/G12 or Nikon 1 Series. However, please let me know if there are DSLRs with this feature.

A good lens for nikon d5000 which is better than the standard stock one which comes with the camera? i mean quality wise, sharpness and contrast etc.

I was advised that d5100 has more effects meaning not as user friendly, and d3200 doesn't have as much features as 5100… Which can take better photos & which is the better investment? (sidenote; what is your opinion on mirrorless cameras, such as Sony NEX?)

Takes amazing pictures. Absolutely nothing wrong at all. Have kept the battery out of it.

I'd like to get a good primary camera for wedding photography. I have shot with my D7000, primarily using prime (85mm, 35mm and a 18mm-100mm) and have rented a 70-200 f2.8 (on my body 95% of the time). I also use a fisheye… Now that I have some extra funds - - would you invest in buying the 70-200mm VRII, purchase a D800 with gigantic file size but awesome clarity and great ISO performance or the D600… So Lens or Body?

Nikon 50MM f/1.8 Lens with adapter on Olympus Pen E-PL2?

So I have a Pen E-PL2 micro four thirds camera, and I've always wanted a good quality prime lens to use on it. However, the ones that Olympus makes for their cameras are a bit beyond my price range. ($200+)

So I thought that I should try getting a good quality prime lens such as the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D lens and using an adapter due to the manual control given directly on the lens. (I was looking at the Canon version, but due to the adapter, and my lack of a Canon camera, I would be unable to ever change the aperture) However, I've heard that depending on manual focus is a nuisance.

Rather than paying $200+, I could pay around $160 for the adapter and lens.

Would this be a good idea/has anyone tried this before?
