Looking to buy a DSLR camera for the first time - any recommendations please?

I'm beginning in digital photography, and I'm really enjoying it so far. I've started saving money to buy a DSLR but I have no idea which one I should buy. I've been borrowing my dad's Canon 350D (his friend gave it to him a while back so it's about 5 years old) and we're both still learning it.

I asked my teacher (who's a pro photographer) for a recommendation and she's a Nikon girl, haha.but she said to just read up specs on them.

I'm still learning so I don't know all the terms yet, but I'd like a DSLR camera (any brand but I did learn on a Canon) that I can learn on. Any recommendations for me please?

In need of some advice for a photography camera?

I'm getting into photography as a hobby and I've done a lot of research and I have narrowed it down to a couple of camera's so I'm just looking for some advice on which is a better camera for a starter.

How to make money with Photography?

So, I bought a D3100 Nikon a while ago and I am pretty good. I really enjoy photography, but I would like to make money with it. I've tried stock sites but it doesn't really work for me… Are there any other ways??? Thank in advance! :D

Nikon D5100 lenes? Amazing quality?

I have the default lens that comes with my Nikon and a telescopic Nikor lens… I LOVE the quality of the telescopic lens but it's sort of hard to use when doing profiles so I just want a standard lens that will preform great quality like that one… Would a 50mm work good? I do a lot of nature shots and take pictures of models and what not.

New Nikon lenses on old Nikon film SLRs?

I'm fairly certain I already know the answer but I'm just looking for some confirmation. I know that using old manual focus lenses on Nikon DSLRs isn't recommended since they can't meter, but on the other hand, most new Nikon lenses will work fine on old film SLRs, correct? Will there be any performance differences / issues (not including autofocus capability for very old bodies)? And also, how would DX lenses perform on film SLRs — would FX lenses be the only viable option? I would be looking to get lenses that work well both on film and digital SLRs.

An aside, what would be a good, mechanical Nikon film SLR? Preferably metal-body and very durable.

New DSLR - Which One?

I've been with Canon for a while now.My Canon 550D just died on me and I'm looking for a replacement. I went into my local camera store and was amazed at the various DSLR's they had. Some from Sony and a couple from Nikon. Especially the Nikon cameras seemed to have a lot of power under the hood for the price. Something like 24mpx compared to the same priced Canon cameras which had half of that.

I'm looking to get the Canon 650D, but I'm open to suggestions. What would be the best "camera for the buck" to get?
Added (1). @Jim, by "died" I mean it died.It was a factory fault and I had the choice of either getting the same camera or getting cash. I chose cash as I'm wanting to try something different.

@Keerok, I know the difference between Canon models. They're the ones I'm most familiar with. But when I visited the local camera shop, I saw several models and makes ranging from Canon, Pentax, Nikon and a slew of others.

I'm looking for some advice to which camera (doesn't matter brand) that gives you the most "bang for the buck". I enjoy Canon cameras and always have. But I'd like to try something different for the sake of it.

60mm Micro lens help?

Hi,

I just bought the AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm 1:2.8 G ED for my Nikon D5100. And I'm abit confused, what does the infinite sign mean? And all the other numbers? I'm quite new to Macro shooting. Also, I'm buying either a D90 or D7000 Nikon in 3 months. Which of those should I buy and will my lens work on it?
Added (1). Forgot two things; My new lens came with a Lens hood, what's that and what is its uses?

And could you list me some other good Macro lenses?

Teenage Photographer?

Hey guys! So I was just wondering what you thought of my photography. I started taking interest in it about a year and a half ago and I pretty much fell inlove with it. I really don't want to be one of those "annoying teenger with a Nikon and think they're automatically a photographer." I really do love it and I'm thinking about doing it in college. I know I'm not the best photographer but I really need some feedback on my photos on what I need to improve, I'd really appreicate it! Thanks so much! :)

Canon 50mm f/1.8 II auto focus on Canon EOS 10D?

I just picked up a Canon 10D (as a back up camera ) and I need to buy a Canon lens as I only own Nikon glass. Will the 50mm f/1.8 ii auto focus on my 10D body or do they both lack focus motors?

Choosing a DSLR camera?

Hay so i have finally made my mind up after days of searching for a camera, i was going to get a bridge camera but for a extra few £ i could afford a DSLR camera, so what one would be best value? keep in mind that:
+ i want one which does not take normal batteries (AA,AAA batts) as i have heard that alot of cameras in general are herd on batteries.
+ That i will be using it at night time ( concerts etc)
+ and that i will be using it for family pictures ( so in other words, kids moving fast!!!)

Nikon Camera.which one?

I am getting a camera for my birthday next week.and I need to decide which one.
so I heard Nikon is good, so I'm sticking with that. But should I go for the D3100 or the D5100..?
