Which DSLR to buy of these 2?

My mother is an artist and I want to get her a high quality camera for mother's day. I found two cameras that I'm interested in.

Which of the two cameras do you think is better?
Also, do you know a better camera that I can get within my price range of $600?

Which SLR Camera? Ideal entry level set-up?

Hi, looking to get a good value for money SLR camera. Purpose will be to take travel shots, family shots, and use for a couple of business websites (some video capability would also be great for this purpose).
I know Canon or Nikon are popular choices; I'd love some recommendations on what (USA) make/model would be best suited, and any essential starter lenses/ accessories. Something easy enough for a novice to operate, but which will allow for increasing user capability and additional accessories over time. Budget is flexible, am after quality and value but certainly not the 'Rolls Royce' model.
Thanks!

Thanks in advance :)

-Good for nature and scenery shots.
- No more than 15 Megapixels
-Video Capability
-Multiple frames per second option
-Image Stabilization
-View Finder Screen (Preferably LCD display)
That's mainly it. If i possible it would also be great for it to be from one of the following companies (Unless you know of a company that might better suit my needs.

-Canon
-Nikon
-Sony
-Fujifilm
-Panasonic

My budget range is a minimum of $200 - $500.
Not all of the wishlist items have to be included as long as there is a general amount of them.
Thanks in advance!

So one of my friends wanted me to take her senior photos recently, and I've been wanting to try some portrait stuff for a while now. I have other images than this one obviously, but I would love some critique on this shot and what I'm doing wrong/right.It was shot on a Nikon d3200. Thanks!

Photographing an indoor party with no external flash?

Hi, I am relatively new to doing photography professionally. I've been enjoying it as a hobby for a little under two years. My typical paid shoots are newborn or children portraiture and theyre usually outdoor sessions. I've only photographed one indoor party, a sweet 16. I have a nikon d70, and two nikon lenses, one is wide angle, the other has much more zoom. When I photographed the sweet 16, I was using my friends nikon external flash. I do not own one my self, I had a no brand name flash and it broke and money's tight. I am shooting a corporate party tonight from 6 to 930, it will be a comfortable, relaxed job.It is being held at an indoor venue, I believe a restaurant or catering hall of some type.Im just supposed to be tajong candid party shots, about 100 shots are what theyve requested for the 3 hour party. My question is- what is the best way to shoot an indoor party without external flash? I have the built on flash on my camera, but I hate using it. I've only used it under 10 times since I've owned this camera. Preferred settings? (I use manaul) light tricks? (I have a reflector, I was told not to bring anything bulky like that, just camera & me). I was hired for this job by another photographer who was supposed to do the party himself and is unable to. He likes my work so he asked me to cover it for him. I agreed and told him how I have no flash and he said it was fine. I don't want to mess this up, since its only my second time shooting a party. Please give as much basic, detailed advice that you are able to! Thank you, sorry this is last notice! Www.flickr.com/artsyphotoss
