What camera lense do I need?

I currently have an 18mm to 55mm lense. I want to find a good lense that would get good crisp photo's of my 2 year old son. I currently use a nikon d3000 and it does me fine. If someone could recommend a lense that would suit this purpose?

Looking for a good walk around lens (50mm)?

I enjoy taking photos as a hobby. I wouldn't say I'm and excellent photographer or anything, but I really enjoy doing it! I have a Nikon D3100 with a kit lens (18-55mm) and a 55mm-200mm zoom lens. I want to get just a basic walk around lens to use when I'm on vacation and just out and about.
I was thinking a 50mm lens with a low f-stop (like f/1.8 or something like that).So I went to Nikon's website to look, and there are 5 or so different 50mm lenses, all for different prices.

I just want a lens I can use to take good quality photos of people, places, and things while I wander around and stuff.It doesn't have to be amazing, just good. If anyone could tell me what lens specifically would be good for me, I would really appreciate it! Thanks :)

Pros and cons of lenses?

Manual focusing lenses and auto focusing lenses. Which one are better? Does manual focusing lenses have any advantages over auto focusing lenses? I'm using a Nikon D3100. Will there be a trouble if I choose to use a manual focusing lenses?

Canon G15 vs Nikon D3200 15-55mm kit for Jewelry Macro?

Thanks in advance to those who help with answering this question. First of all, I'm a beginner when it comes to photography, but I'm a fast learner. I'm looking for a $600 or less camera for macro shooting of Tungsten Rings and shiny reflective stainless steel rings. I have read that the Canon G15 does great in the macro department. But for $100 more a Nikon D3200 with 15-55mm VR len kit is so yummie. I have seen many good macro photo with the 15-55mm lens on D3200, but many still recommend a true macro lens (another $300 min) for D3200.
Can the D3200 with 15-55mm len still beat G15 for macro shots? Please give input asap. Thanks!

I need to know what camera to buy!

Im looking to buy a Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens - Black. And im staying in the $500 or lower. I love taking pictures and I want this to become my career.so any info on cameras would be nice and colleges if you know any good ones. But are there any better camera's out there for $500 or lower?

Landscape photography with 18-55mm lens?

I'm using a Nikon D3100 with kit lens 18-55mm lens. I was wondering if these lens is able to capture nice photography picture with the lens. I'm well aware that D3100 is an entry level dslr and good picture takes time to practice. I was just wondering if the lens is capable to do a good landscape photography.

Why havent nikon or canon made their own camera phone?

It seems like a great product idea and i know a ton of people who would buy it.i think the reason alot of people dont get into photography is because their big fancy cameras seem intimidating.i feel as if it was on a phone itd be easier to learn and eventually the user would want to upgrade to an actual nikon or canon.
Added (1). Sorry i actually meant a mainstream phone such as a galaxy or an htc android to feature a high tech camera from either of those manufacturers

Say I am an entry level photographer, should I go with Nikon or Canon?

Remember, I would have to stick with one brand because I would be investing in lenses in near future for that one brand. You cannot use a Nikon lens on a Canon or vice versa.
Added (1). Can you please mention why the Nikon or Canon is better in your opinion?
