What makes a flash a good flash?

I've been looking at flashes to buy for a Nikon D5100, and have found a bunch of results, but don't know which flashes are better than the other. I know very little about flashes, as I try to shoot with natural lighting as much as possible (long shutters etc.) The only thing that I know makes flashes better than another is the recycle time… A little help please…

Convert 29.97 fps to 23.976 fps without slowing down?

I have footage that has been recorded at 29.97 fps in full HD which I would like to convert to 23.976 fps to give a movie-like style, but I don't want to speed up or speed down the footage. Is there a way to convert it without loosing the quality? I'm running After Effects CS6 on Windows 8 64x if that matters, the camera is a J1 Nikon.

Thank you.

Nikor 50mm F/1.8G or 50mm F/1.8D?

I'm new in photography and planning to buy Nikon D5200 this month. So looking for a prime lens. I'm confused between 50mm f 1.8 D & G. I know the G is the newer lens & costs higher than D, but not quite sure what the difference is between the two. Nikon says G has automatic focus. I think G is better because it is newer. Is there any significant image quality difference between these two.
I want to buy prime lens for low light images, so can anyone explain and recommend one over the other.

-DSRL:

-Nikon D3100

people say that the last one is better but buying different lenses is not something I can afford, so I don't know if different lenses would be necessary for the last one to work!
Thank U!

Sony A37 vs Nikon D3100?

Photography is just my hobby. I am unable to decide which one to buy (Sony A37 or Nikon D3100) for my personal use. Can anyone comment about the comfort and picture quality comparison between these DSLR's.

Vignetting at 18mm - Nikon D3100. 18-55mm lens?

I'm new to photography and I have no idea there is always some vignetting at 18mm. I don't seem to be able to shoot at 18mm. The vignetting only disappears at 24mm.Is there something wrong with my camera/lens?

Did I break my auto focus device from my camera?

Okay so I was taking pictures when all of a sudden the device used to zoom and clearify and stuff got loose and now the slider to change how clear or blurry the picture is, and its as if it broke somthing and its like sliding faster than the paced usual way.By the way its a nikon D100 and the af is 35-70mm f3.3-f4.5 MACRO ZOOM. its like making pictures brighter too and less clear? Or is it just me ?

Best macro lenses under $200?

I don't care whether its used, vintage, prime, or third party. I just want a good macro lens for Nikon D5100. I will mainly be shooting insects. I know its a low budget, but like I said, it can be used or vintage, I just want the lens it self to be good quality.
