Which other DSLR Camera is comparable to the Nikon D5100?

Been looking at the Nikon D5100 for a couple weeks now and wondering if any other brands or within the Nikon brand it's self is highly comparable? Thanks In Advance!

Any NICE cameras to buy for cheap?

Okay I'm 14 and really want to be a model/ photographer. I'm looking at some cameras I really want to buy because they take great, clear, noise-free pictures. Or if youre selling a camera that is cheap id be more than happy to look into purchasing it! I preferably want a camera:
- that is Canon or Nikon
- around the price range under $300
- it can be new or refurbished.
- one that has flash and takes clear photos
- one that would be simple to upload pics to Instagram.
- fairly simple to understand/use

Camera Focus. Need help!

I can not get my Nikon j1 to focus in my eye for the life of me! I'm trying to take a picture of just my eye and I've tried multiple ways but once it finally focuses a small red rectangle appears, not enabling me to take the picture. Why is this happening? How can I fix it?

In canon cameras, what is the thing that previews your image before you take the photo?

Before you take the photo, on the LD screen you can see the brightness of the photo change as you change the shutter speed and aperture. I have noticed my sisters canon camera has this but her nikon camera doesn't.is it something to do with the lens? can i turn it on in the settings in nikon? and whats it called? the cameras are canon 550d and nikon d7000

How to resize and change DPI for digital photographs on an iMac?

I have an iMac computer and I need to have the capability of changing my digital photo's (camera-nikon d70) dpi to 300 and also resizing them to 4x6 and maintaining a high resolution. These requirements are mandatory, as they will be printed into the newspaper on may 17, and I need to upload onto the newspapers website by tomorrow at 10am. I have iPhoto, but I don't think I can do this on there? Should i download an adobe photoshop 30day trial? Or can I do this on the free downloaded program irfranview? Please give me as much advice, knowledge and detail as possible on this subject. Thank you for your time!

Help on Nikon's prime lenses?

What is the difference between Nikkor 35mm f1.8G and Nikkor 50mm f1.8G?

All i know is they are prime lenses for portraits and the widest aperture they can go up to is 1.8.

What does that 35mm and 50mm mean?

I have seen that prime lenses like 35mm or 50mm can be used as portraits as well as extreme closeup shots?

Can we use micro lenses like 40mm or 60mm lens to take portraits?

Is it good to get a prime lens rather than micro lens because it takes both extreme closeup as well as good portraits?

How to make a Let's Play video?

I already have a youtube account but I don't really like what I am doing on that account anymore. I don't want to do something with make up since I never used make up myself and I don't want to show my face.

I thought LP's were a good idea, I want to make a mew LP account of my own (is it too late?) And play games. I love the sims and the legend of Zelda series ( also open to play new games ^.^) I just love gaming in general.

So how do I make a LP? Any tips? I have a microphone and my mom has a proffesional Nikon camera if it's needed I can use it :3

Tell me everything you know and what I have to know!

Also I am not fame hungry, of course I want to get my name out, but I just want to love what I am doing. And I love making youtube videos.

Opinions on Nikon D800 and Canon 5D Mark III?

Over the past week I've been reading bit by bit on which one, for the foreseeable future, would be a better purchase. Such objective, though, is quite unfair, as I am well aware what both have strengths that are not necessarily parallel with each other.

I've had a 7D for over 3 years, and I feel too limited with its cropped sensor, therefore, I have saved up to make the leap into full-frame. I've read very heated arguments regarding these two cameras, each one having a pro that is hard to give up, while also having a con that is not easily dismissed.

Without going into too much detail, the consensus seems to be that the D800 is amazing at stills, and barring any low light scenarios, is also quite sharp and pretty for video. The mark III on the other hand seems to be baby steps away from the mark II, and for me, its most attractive feature, other than my familiarity with Canon, is the extremely attractive low-light performance.

My purpose for this device will be mixed, I will take stills, and I will shoot video, both largely in equal amounts. However, I still don't know which one to buy. I'd like to hear some opinions if you own either of these cameras, or if you own a different one and would like to share the reasons as to why it is as good as it is.
