SLR camera lens help?

I'm getting a lens filter kit for my boyfriend and all I know is he has a Nikon D5100 camera with a 55mm lens.

Now, can I get any 55 mm lens? Like could a sony one fit on this as long as it's 55mm? Or do I have to get a Nikon brand one?

Best valued Nikon lens for sports photography?

Im currently in high school and Im going to begin doing sports photography with a Nikon D7000.Im going to be shooting both indoor sports and outdoor sports.Id like to get something with a large zoom capacity, but could also go wide angle. I dont care if its Tamron or Sigma or some other brand as long as its a good lens.My budget is under $900. Thanks!

Buying a camera now or straight after christmas?

OK i have decided to ask for a NIKON D3200 for christmas which retails for £401 from amazon. Should i get her to buy this now or wait till directly after christmas when there could possibly be sales on. This is currently £424 from PCWorld. Would it go down on boxing day? If so by how much? So should i order from amazon or buy it from pcworld after xmas?

The 28-70 is a bit cheaper, but whats the difference, I have heard great things about both

Small slr nikon camera?

Does/has nikon made a camera body that is an slr but doesn't use film (saves photos onto a memory card)? i am looking into buying a smaller, more portable slr but i take a lot of junk pictures and it would be so wasteful if i had to use film.

Added (1). Hmm, i have a d3100 right now, but i was wondering if they made anything smaller? maybe around the size of an MILC but with lesser functions (aka less expensive, i am an amateur so i would prefer convenience over function).do you know if there are any older models like that?

MacBook Air for photography?

I'm desperate for a new laptop that will keep up with my photo's.
The camera I use is a Nikon D3100.
I'm looking at the MacBook Air, 13inch, 128GB.

I will not be editing videos, just photographs, on Apperture, and maybe photoshop elements.

Would this be suitable? If not, what laptop would you suggest?

Am I ugly or just not photogenic?

I'm 16, I do a lot with my camera and honestly, my camera is everything to me as I do have a lot of mental health problems causing me to just not see any friends, ever. Anyway, last night I went to a family-get-together and I asked for a photo of all of us, I use a Nikon D3100.
When I got home, looked at the photos, I noticed everyone looked the exact same except me. I have been ill lately so my face is a little puffy but my eyes look huge, face shape is longer, nose looks crooked and misshaped, and more. I don't know how to fix this… In real, my face (to me) isn't pretty, but its' better than it is in photos! It's smaller, not wide, etc… how do I fix this? I also need to lose weight so that might be it!

I can't download photos from my Camera (Nikon) into iPhoto?

I went to a concert last night, ran out of space on my memory card and used my friends in my camera. Both memory cards were exactly the same but now only my memory card will download into iPhoto. I don't know whether that's the problem, or whether I have no space but it just comes up with 'iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image.' every time I try to import. Thank you.

I'm looking to buy a new NIKON for photography, but I also do video.So I'm considering buying a Canon, but I don't like doing photography with a Canon, so are there any Nikon cameras that film in 60fps

And i know when you say film generally it means on film rolls but i'm talking about digital video, the terminology is irrelevant

What is the optical zoom of the DSLR I am interested in?

I am interested in buying a DSLR lens before Christmas and came across the "18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens". Now no matter how hard I look there is absolutely no mention anywhere on the web of how far it can optical zoom. Why can't they simply specify how much it needs to zoom and how can I calculate how much a lens could zoom in the future. All help appreciated. Thanks.

Nikon 50mm 1.8D on d7000?

I've decided to save some money and go with the Nikon d7000 instead of canon 7d.

just making sure, will the 50mm 1.8D instead of 1.8G work on the d7000?

The 1.8G is a lot more money as I heard it focuses more quickly, but I also heard that the 1.8D will work perfectly on the d7000…

Am I correct?

What type of Nikon wide angle lens do I need?

Could you recommend a super wide angle lens for me? I have a Nikon D60 and am using the AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm DX lens for most of my photographs. However I need to take interior shots of rooms and need a wider wide angle lens. I'm confused because my 18-55mm lens I thought was a wide angle lens (because it's focal length is less than 50mm).Is it worth me buying a new lens if my current lens already does 18mm? Is 18-55mm really a wide angle lens? I just feel like the lens I'm using (18-55mm) is hardly a wide angle lens and so what options are there for a super wide angle lens? Should I only stick with Nikkor or are other lenses compatible. Thank you for your help because I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed right now.

What settings do I set on manual SLR film camera for night?

I have a Nikon FM2 film camera, and the film is Ilford HP5 plus 400 Black & White.

I am taking photographs of Christmas Lights in the dark, and I am wondering what settings will I need to set for these photographs.
Added (1). EDIT: This is for college work as to relate to the theme of Time & Place, which I will also produce photograms onto these photographs of christmas lights.
