For a long time Nikon and Canon user have been at war with one another, why?

I use a Canon, the other day i was on a photo walk, it was very interesting to see, all the Nikon users stuck together as one as well as Canon users, and there were disagreements on what camera is better than the other, why is this such a big deal, if you ask me i dont care what you use as long as you know how to use it!

Amateur photography learning the ropes?

I'm trying to teach myself how to take full advantage if my nikon d3000 via the Internet. It's all very overwhelming, but I think the best way for me to get a grasp of aperture, shutter speed, and iso is to know approximately where these setting should be at in different scenarios and then make adjustments from there. For example lets say I'm taking photos of my daughter outside on an overcast day or in the shade with a blurry background. Where would be a good starting point? And how about the same situation indoors near a window? Or outside on a sunny day? If you have any other helpful tips for me I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much!

Best flash photography setup?

I am buying a new flash setup for a photography trip in the French Alps. I have a Nikon D5000 (max sync speed 1/200s).
I have two different setups:
1:
Yongnuo YN460ii x3
RF-602 x3

2:
Godox EX400 x1
Yongnuo YN460ii x1

I was wondering which setup would be best for freezing fast action, skiing and snowboarding. Also it would be used for portraits.
Which setup do you think would be best for my needs?

Thanks

Opteka baby fisheye with nikon d5100?

I have recently bought myself a Nikon D5100, which came with an 18-55mm lens. I have also bought myself an Opteka baby death fisheye lens, the lens is a 37mm so I also bought a step down ring (55-37). Once i'd set up the fisheye onto the standard lens, I have tried and failed to get the camera to focus. Someone please help? best answer will be awarded!:) Thanks!

Buying my first DSLR, any advice?

I'm looking to upgrade to a DSLR and I'm slightly overwhelmed by all the options there are.
My main focus would be on still photos, I don't do much video wise, I mainly take macro, nature and landscape photos, so I want to go with a brand that's not going to cost me a fortune in lenses. So far I'm thinking I'll get either a Nikon or Canon as these are the ones that have been recommended to me the most in the past.
My main focus is on image quality and I want to be able to get some of my shots blown up and printed in the future. I also want something that gives me a lot of manual options so I can get a bit more creative than with current camera.
I'm budgeting a maximum of $1000 but would prefer to pay around $800 if possible. I've been saving up for a long time and won't be upgrading again any time soon so I need something that is good value for money and will last me a long time.
I also like underwater photography (I currently have a compact underwater camera which is pretty crap) so if I can get a camera that has the option of buying a underwater case for it that would be a bonus.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thankyou in advance :)

Canon Rebel t3i/EOS 600D help? Filming?

Hey, I was wondering, I've just bought a new camera ^ as you see. And I've only owned Nikons before, no Canons but I was wondering, since I make youtube videos, and I understood that this camera should have a thing that makes the camera focus on its own, or a motor you know in it (that for example the Nikon D5100 doesn't have) so how do I get it to focus on its on? This is really important for me to know. Like when I'm filming avideo so it focuses on me and then for example if I lift my finger up it would focus on that. Thank you so much!
