I dropped my camera a few days ago and a common problem is that the mirror would get lodged or stuck because of the two prongs, screws, whatever they are called. So i then go it out and it moves freely. But another problem happened after is that my shutter sound is completely different. It sounds more whiny and not normal. Please help!

Will Nikon clean my viewfinder?

Will Nikon (or reputable third party) clean dust that has gotten into my viewfinder? I see a dot in the finder above a grid line and I've tried blowing and the bunch, but it won't come out. Also, I can't see it on the fresnel when I peer in. Will Nikon or whomever take the focusing screen out to clean it if I give it to them? Will I have to specify? Anyways, thanks.
Added (1). Just to clarify, the dust doesn't affect my image obviously. But, it does show up completely black. I do not think it is a scratch in the focusing screen. It has the same kind of black color as the frame lines and focus selection.
Added (2). also, will they take a look at it when I send it in just for a general cleaning once in a good while?

Recommendations on a really camera?

Hi,
I'm wanting to buy a really good camera.
I was thinking a DSLR camera. Because I heard it's the best! But I was wondering If it's good in bad lighting and is water proof?
If not can you recommend me to a camera that is similar to a DSLR but has everything I need in a camera? I need at least 16 gb. Or even more… I even need a camera that offers a great resolution and HD. Also is great in all types of lighting and weather. Thank you and Looking forward to hearing back from someone.
Have nice day! :)

How to fix the focus on the camera?

I should know how to do this, having done photography since 2010 with D-SLRs, but I'm not yet accustomed to my newest lens which is a 50mm Nikkor lens. I use a Nikon D3100, so the auto-focus feature isn't available. I manually focus and I have done enough practice to understand that when a green light comes on in the corner, it's focused on part of the subject.

Well, last night it wouldn't work. That green light was flashing on and off and I looked it up. I fixed it, or so I thought. It doesn't flash on and off now and flashes when the viewfinder focuses; the picture would look sharp and exactly the way I'd want it.

Then I take the picture and it comes out blurry…
Added (1). I forgot to mention that for right now, I'm shooting on Auto. I shoot Manual, too, but for now I'm shooting on Auto.

Why are my pictures blury?

Okay so I just got a rokinon 14mm f/2.8 lens for my Nikon d3300 and all the pictures I ve taken with it have come out blury. It s definitely the lens because my basic 18-55mm lens takes crystal clear pics. I ve been testing it by taking pictures of trees about 250ft away. Is there settings I need to adjust my camera to for this lens? I ve just been using auto focus but I can t get it to focus right. Is my subject too close and that s why they re blury? Because this lens is usually used to take pictures of the sky and stars. Or is it a problem with the lens on an inside piece of glass that I wouldn t be able to clean without taking it apart? Please help.

Photo equipment for Australia Expedition?

I'm planning on traveling to Australia this summer with National Geographic as part of one of their high school expeditions and I'm looking for advice on gear. My main struggle is there is such a diverse amount of work I'd like to accomplish which requires lots of different gear and I don't want to overpack or take on too much. I want to shoot Underwater photos, Wide angle/scenery, Astrophotography, and Good photos of the animals. We are going to be going all over from snorkeling in the great barrier reef to Sydney and the zoo there to the rainforest and camping in the outback. They recommended we bring some all-inclusive style lenses aka telephoto but I value a good depth of field and don't want my photos to look like some average tourists. I've been into photography for a year and a half and have a nikon d800 with a 50mm 1.4, 90mm 2.8, and 28-300mm telephoto. Personally I enjoy portraits so I use my 50 a lot but they advised against bringing many fixed lenses as the weight builds up. Overall what are your thoughts? I've been looking into the 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 vr ii lenses but they're quite expensive and I don't want to spend all my money on the wrong gear. Also for underwater pics I'm torn between buying housing (I'm looking at meikon but they don't have any extra ports for the d800 housing so I'd be stuck with a 35mm if I buy one) or buying a low cost waterproof point and shoot. Any advice helps, thanks!

Low price dslr housing?

I'm a sophomore in high school planning on going to australia as part of the national geographic high school expeditions this summer. Nikon d7000 Auto Focus Problems?!

Just got a brand new Nikon d7000 less than a week ago and today all of a sudden out of the blue the AutoFocus does not work. Won't focus and if you try and press the shutter it won't take pics either. Manual focus works fine. What is going on? Any suggestions on what might have happened?!

I'm using the Nikon d7000 with the 18-105mm VR lens. Both the auto focus button on the camera and on the lens are clicked to auto focus but it won't work. If I switch the buttons to manual it works fine. Brand new camera… Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Using 7.4V battery in my camera when the original was 7.2V?

I have a handful of Nikon cameras lying around here. My newest camera has a rechargeable Lithium ion battery that says the following:
7.2V 1230mAh 8.9 WH
In some of the older models I have a battery of the same dimensions that states:
7.4V 1030mAh 7.7 Wh

I tried out of curiosity to put the second battery into a camera that used the first that I listed. The camera turned on and worked fine. I am wondering if I switch the batteries out will I be damaging the electronics.

I have a Nikon DSLR, but I'm pretty sure that settings are similar to other DSLRs like Canon's, or Sony's, or Pentax'.

When taking portraits, or people, you should always focus your camera on that person's eyes. But, how do you do this? Do I set my focus mode on "Single-point AF" and manually select the focus area on the eyes or just leave it at "Auto-area AF"?

How about my metering? Do I set it to Matrix, Center-Weighted, or Spot given that my subject is in the dead center and in a non-studio background?

Taking A Photo From The Shade When It's Sunny How Do I Do It? I Have a Nikon D3300?

So I have a difficult situation where I'm taking a photo of a building that has a large awning covering the entrance which needs to be the main focus of the image. I can take the image from the shade across the way under some trees, but it's still extremely difficult to keep from getting photos that are too dark under the awning.

What can be done about this? I've tried playing with White Balance but still can't figure this out?

I could take pictures just fine if I was in the shade (under the awning) but this has to be taken from a distance so you end up with.

Me under shaded trees -> Sunlight Covering everything between me and the building as it's bright out -> the building itself shaded at the entrance with the awning.

What can I do guys any tricks to help from keeping that from getting to dark? I appreciate the help?

Problems with a camera memory card?

I recently purchased a (used) Nikon D40 camera, which as far as I know is in good condition. However, I purchased a Lexar 633 memory card, and when I put it in the camera it told me to format the memory card, so I did, and now my camera is saying that the memory card is full. My friend put it in her camera and it worked just fine. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to fix this, or if I just got screwed over when buying this camera. DSLR cameras for filming video?

Canon PowerShot G9 X, a good choice as an upgrade?

I have a Canon Powershot 310 HS but in a video I saw it said that if you have the 300 HS there is no need to upgrade. However I think there surely must be a noticeable difference between a mid range camera released in 2011 compared to what's supposed to be Canon's best small camera from 2015? I want to shoot street photography, mostly in lowlight conditions. Because of that I've decided that I'm going for the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 no mater what. They cost around £150, leaving me with £250 for another lens. I want to go for a telephoto/zoom lens for travelling or just daily usage. I'm siding towards the Nikkor 55-200mm lens or the 55-300mm. Is a 35mm and a 55-200mm a good range?

I also want to get into landscape and cityscape photography. I want to get a super wide angle lens for that but that will have to wait because of the price. Is the 35mm on a crop sensor wide enough or would something like an 18mm be better? If it isn't wide enough then should I go for an "all in one" zoom lens instead of the 55-200?

How do these lenses compare with each other in terms of image quality, chromatic aberration, etc…

Nikon 18-140 f/3.5-5.6 ED VR
Sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 DC
Sigma 18-250 f/3.5-6.3 DC
Tamron 18-200 Di ii VC
Tamron 18-270 f/3.5-6.3

Keep in mind I only have roughly £250 to spend on one!

Ultra Wide Angle Lens?

I'm new to photography and I want an ultra wide angle lens mainly for night time cityscapes and occasionally landscape photography. I have a Nikon D5500 and want a 15-16mm FX equivalent, meaning I would want a 10 or 11mm lens. Since it would mostly be sunset, blue hour, and night time shots I would want one with a fast aperture. I don't want to spend too much on a lens, preferably under £500. I've looked into lenses and the one that ticks all my boxes is the Samyang 10mm f/2.8. The only downside to this is it can't have filters on it as the lens hood is built in.

Which is better for ultra wide angle shots, prime or zoom? I know that prime lenses are going to be sharper but is having the versatility of a zoom lens worth it or would just cropping it be better?

Then it come to the next question. Is there that much of a difference between f/2.8 and f/3.5 when it comes to lowlight shots? I'm looking at the Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G for the zoom range but was just wondering is it better to get a prime lens with a fixed aperture of f/2.8 for lowlight cityscape shots?

And are other brands like Sigma, Tokina, Tamron, good as well?
How do these compare with each other?

Samyang 10mm f/2.8
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 DXII
Tokina 11-20mm f/2.8 Pro
Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5
Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5
Nikkor 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G

Ideally I would want a 10-20mm f/2.8 that can have polarizing filters.

Lenses compatible with Nikon D3200?

I just bought a D3200 and I'm very new to photography but trying to learn as much as I can. So I'm trying to broaden my lenses from just my basic kit lens to something else. There's so many different things that I just don't quite understand yet.

I am looking for good portrait lenses. I have a few different ones in mind. But at the moment I'm specifically looking at the 1.8 50mm. Problem is that I'm not sure which "version" is compatible with my camera. I've seen an E series, a D, and a G. And I am confused.

So can anyone tell me which one is the one that's compatible with my D3200?

Lenses compatible with the Nikon D3200?

So I m a beginner in photography, so excuse me if I sound like a moron. But there s all these terms and different things and it s pretty confusing. I just bought my first DSLR (D3200) a few months ago and now I m looking to expand my lenses. I ve been working with the kit lense and I m pretty happy with what I ve been able to do with it thus far. But just like any addict, I want more.

I m looking for some lenses that are compatible with my camera. I specifically want a 1.8 50mm. But there s some many letters that I m just not sure which one is compatible. I ve seen an E series, a D, and a G. Which one is the one I need to get?

And please don t comment telling me I m stupid for not knowing and that if I don t know I don t need it. I m trying to learn, being rude won t help me.
