Which bridge camera?

Hi!

I am looking to purchase a new bridge camera. Currently I have a nikon l320. Bottom line I can't stand the camera. It takes forever to take the picture the quality is horrible, etc… I was looking at the panasonic lumix fz70. I like the wide zoom and quality. The only question I have is, I would use this camera a lot for school events and need something capable of a fast shutter Speed. Is this a good camera? If not so what are other options for no more than 300$ thanks all

What camera would be best? Camera recommendations?

Hi there! I'm going to New York and Germany/Austria and I really want to have a good camera to take pictures and I have a couple questions about it!

2.) What brand(s) are best?

3.) I guess I wouldn't mind paying a few extra bucks for a good camera, but what ones are good for a budget?

Nikon FX lens on DX body?

i have a DX, crop sensor camera. (d 3200)

I want to buy a 50mm FX lens for my DX camera.

my question is

What is the DX lens mm equivalent to an FX lens on a DX body

for example, what mm would i have to put my DX lens on to replicate what a 50mm FX lens would look like on a DX body.

please don't tell me that a 35mm DX is equivalent to a 50mm FX. I do not own a FX camera and do not know what it looks like.

Should I upgrade my Nikon to a newer model?

I am on my second year of doing portrait photography and I am in need of either updated gear or additions to what I currently have. My camera body is a Nikon D100. I am debating on investing in the nikon d800 or adding to my gear. I feel I am not getting the sharpness I would like to achieve. In your experienced opinion, would the switch be worth the money? Best Nikon Lens for group shots?

Hello, let me first start by saying that i'm not a professional photographer. I'm just a guy with a camera who likes to take pictures. My son has asked me to come and take some group (up to 21 people) and individual pictures of his high school cross country team. I really need some advice on the lenses I should use.
Nikon D5000
Current lenses I own:
Nikon 18-55 kit - 3.5-5.6
Nikon 70-300 kit - 4.5-5.6
Nikon 50mm 1.8 g
Nikon 35mm 1.8 g
I'll most likely use the 50mm for the individual up close shots but i'm not sure what to use for the group shots and what aperture to use either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Digital or film photography?

ok so my film camera (Nikon FA) just broke - the shutter is all messed up and i figured I could just buy a new film camera for the price it would cost to fix the shutter. It was second hand from a relative (who hadn't used it in 20 years) and i had only used 2 rolls of film (haven't processed yet tho.) now, i was wondering if i should just go digital and buy a beginner DSLR or purchase another film camera? I already have a 50mm Nikkor (idk how to spell it) lens, so would it be compatible with any other Nikon camera? Or should i just buy a beginner DSLR which is compatible with the lens i already have and buy one of those lomography cameras to mess around with using film? Help please, idk what to do? Thanks

Nikon FA suddenly broke?! Help?

ok so I just finished a roll of film and I unloaded it out of the camera. I was playing around with the various shutter speeds without any film (I was bored) I undid the back of the camera and noticed that one of the shutter curtains was wonky so I gently prodded it back into place. I then resumed to play around with different shutter speeds but the shutter would not fire at all?! I then tried to advance the "film" but it didn't work?! If my Nikon fa was a computer, I would say that it appears to be frozen. I looked through the view finder and I all could see was black. The LCD screen wasn't working at all. I then took the battery out and placed it back in again. Still not working. I got this camera secondhand from a relative about 2 months ago (they haven't used it in 20 years) I had shot 2 rolls of film but haven't had them developed. My question is: does anyone know what could be wrong with my Nikon fa camera?! I included some pictures of the inside for you to see. Thanks:)Nikon FA suddenly broke Help

35mm SLR to complement a DSLR?

Please advice me into buying a 35mm SLR to complement a DSLR, using the same lens. Buying one would mean buying into their whole range. Im thinking of getting full frame for the price of nothing using a 35mm film scanner.

Im a big fan of Nikons because their buttons layout, ergonomics and price. I sold all my kit wanting to get a full frame DSLR. I had a D90 and a bucket full of lens. But things happened and im back to the drawing board again, only with no money for a full frame.

Ive researched Minoltas and they dont seem to cut enough mustard, since they changed their mount in the '80s. Nikon again seems to lead with their FE and FM3a.

Any other suggestion? Thank you

Best of these DSLR's?

Hello all,

First thing I would like to say is If you're going to reply like a "know it all elitist" and insult me, then please don't reply.

Okay this would be MY first DSLR, I have a lot of experience with DSLR's from the photography classes at my school (Mostly Canon T4i and Nikon D3200 & D7000).

I'm thinking of finally buying my own and I would like your input, I have narrowed my camera's of interest to these:

- Canon T4i / T5i
- Canon 60D
- Nikon D7000

I would mostly be using these cameras for Photography and Video projects.
I'm basically trying to find the best "Bang for Buck" (Under $1000) with these brands (Canon & Nikon).
Could you guys tell me which is the best for my needs from those cameras, or maybe recommend another one you think might be more suiting?

Making better photographs?

I'm teaching myself photography and hope to actually take a college course for it soon. I would love to start my own business in family and pet photography one day.

I just can't seem to get that nice soft glow in my pictures. The colour in my pictures and on skin tones is drabby looking. I have a Nikon D5200 and only use manual. I know the jyst of ISO/shutter speed/aperature and I do everything outdoors. I pay attention to my light meter and I do change up the WB.

I know a lot of professionals take lights and reflectors and such but even without those they're pictures are spectacular. It can't be photoshop every time.

I have yet to purchase a good quality photo editing program so for now I use a free one on my computer for general brightness, warmth and sharpness. I usually transfer to my phone to upload on my social media (nobody else to share with) and they look even worse.

Any good tips or websites to get the white balance and colour right?

Thanks!

Photographers: What should my NEXT camera lens be?

Hello fellow photographers and artists of image. I have a question. I consider myself an amateur photographer, but not a novice. I have a D3200 with two lenses. I have the 18-55mm VR Kit lens, as well as my stunning, affordable 50mm f1.8 Nikkor lens. Since I purchased my 50mill prime lens, I have touched my 18-55 very few times. I love the sharpness and speed that my 50mm delivers. I find my 18-55 to be practically useless for my photography needs unless far subjects are in the question.
My main subject of photography are cars. I also enjoy shooting close-up nature subject such as unique plants and animals. Fish, spiders, etc.
But mainly, i would classify myself as a car photographer.
My question to you wise folks is, what should my next lens be in my arsenal?
I understand the 50mm restricts myself to many things such as fixed focal length which can make it more difficult to compose the shot. I rarely stop down to 1.8. Usually between 2.2-3.5 does well on much of my car photos.
My price range is as affordable as i can be. I'd like to see some sharpness like I do with my 50mm but i understand some sharpness sacrificed with zoom lenses vs prime lenses.
Also one more side note: I'd like to produce photos such as the one attached. I believe a telephoto lens gives this nice depth of field and shot for a car photographer.
AGAIN, im still learning so bare with me. ThanksPhotographers: What should my NEXT camera lens be

Long exposure on a Nikon D50?

I have just bought a Nikon D50 and wanted to try out the long exposure with water. How ever I set the settings on:
Manual
ISO 200 (the lowest)
Aperture on F 22 (the highest)
Shutter speed about 5 seconds.

Every time the photos come out bright white on these settings. It really puzzles me and even my A Level photography teacher. The weather is usually bright and sunny (I believe this could be a contributing factor) It is fine with light trials in the dark. Could anyone shed any light on this for me as I cant find anything to help me. Thanks alot.

I have a Nikon d3100 with a 50mm 1.8g lens as well as a 60mm Macro lens.
I usually shoot on P but would love to learn how to change aperture and focal lengths to make this session a success!

Thank you in advance!

Good macro lens for Nikon D5100?

At the moment I am using a reversing ring with some old Miranda lenses (for Olympus OM10) and i managed to photograph this: http://500px.com/photo/83276997/red-beetle-by-lewis-charlton?from=user_library

The picture is ok but as you can see its not in great detail.

So i want to get a decent Macro lens for my D5100 that is not overly expensive and can take pictures like this: http://500px.com/photo/80793981/the-eye-by-bug-eye-)?from=user

Thanks

When to buy Nikon D5300 w/ 18-140mm Kit?

When to buy Nikon D5300 w/ 18-140mm Kit?
Added (1). Hi,
I'm plan on buying Nikon D5300 with 18-140 mm kit. Shall I wait for this thanksgiving? Were there any good deals for D5200 last thanksgiving(2013)? If there is deal of 50-100 of current price, I wouldn't wait. Please advise.
Thanks.

Nikon kit lens and Nikon 50mm 1.8D manual focus feel and behavior?

It's always been my dream to own a prime lens.

Does a 50mm 1.8D have the same manual focus "feel" as the Nikon 18-55mm kit lens? I accept the fact that I'd have to manually focus a 50mm 1.8D lens on my D5100. But if it feels the same as manually focusing an 18-55mm kit lens, then I might as well skip on buying 1.8D.

P.S. I don't have a budget for 1.8G and I thought the 1.8D may be greatly useful both for my Nikon digital and film camera.

So, should I give it a green light? Thanks!

Why are my Nikon D800 night photos kinda yellowish and orange?

I was taking some night photos in NYC last night and when I got home to look at them on my pc, all of the night photos were sort of yellowish and orange. The daytime photos are perfectly fine. Would someone with more experience tell me what setting I should be using for these night photos? Thanks.

Getting a wide angle lens vs telephoto for Nikon?

Hello there,

I am not too sure whether should I get a 10-24mm or a 70-300mm lens. I know it boils down to the question whether do I like to take landscape or wildlife photography.

I was wondering, if I am short of budget, and could only pick one, which one should I pick first? (I will eventually get both one day)

The 10-24mm lens costs USD 350 whereas the 70-300mm lens costs around USD 150?

I am looking into the 10-24 mm ones, but is it that worth it to get the more expensive lens compared to the 70-300mm lens? Both are used lens, but rarely used (because the shutter count of the seller's dslr is less than 3k)

Thank you.

My PocketWizard Plus III radio slaves are giving me trouble. Can someone help?

I'm using three PocketWizard Plus III's, an SB-700, and an SB-600 with my Nikon D610. I'm also using these hot shoe sync cables for the flashes: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/421306-REG/Paramount_PMPWMHSF1_Miniphone_Pocket_Wizard_to.html

So basically what happens is, I'll be on a shoot and everything is working fine, and suddenly one of my flashes will start to rapidly fire really quickly. Then nothing. I'll start having trouble getting that radio slave to receive or transmit anything. Then I'll go home, and fiddle with it and somehow get it to work again, but I don't have time to do that when I'm on a shoot with a client. I'm not sure what it is I do that fixes it. I need to have a better understanding of what's going wrong, and what I can do to fix it. Has anyone had this problem? Or does anyone have an idea what the trouble might be?

Thanks so much!

Video recording on the nikon D7000 (autofocus)?

Hi there im just wondering about the auto focusing on the nikon D7000 when recording. Does the lens automatically keep focusing on your subject WITHOUT you having to hold down a button, or do you need to hold down the shoot button half way down all the time? Keeping in mind i have set the camera to autofocus on the camera as well on the lens.

A nikon 35mm film camera?

What nikon 35mm film camera can you double expose without having to rewind the film? I have a nikon FE2 and you can NOT do it on that camera. So I am looking to buy another nikon film camera, that you and click the shutter without winding forward. It also will have to be compatible with the stander f-series lenses. I have a nikon d3200 and the fe2 so it would need to be able to share lenses with those. And preferably not to expensive of a camera (I'm still in high school so I don't have much money). If you know if any that would be awesome!

Thanks:)

Which Digital Camera to purchase?

Short and sweet: I am looking for a good camera, capable of shooting portrait photography, landscape, and possible runway. Basically, an all around capable digital camera. I want speed, image quality, a diamond that can be utilized.

The one's I have been looking at:

Nikon D300
Canon EOS 30D, 40D
Nikon D5100
Nikon D5300

Absolutely cannot decide. I keep weighing options, looking at reviews, but I would like to hear some more thoughts on what I want in a camera. If it's an older camera that can do the same thing as a new one, be sure to mention it, along with any pros and cons (if you feel like exploring the topic).

Thanks!

Nikon D5100 shooting black photos?

I recently received an older 135mm lens for my nikon most likely dating back to the late 80s or early 90s. Its switched to manual mode and can shoot video perfectly fine. When I go to take pictures, the photos turn out completely black unless I greatly decrease the shutter speed.

Decreasing the shutter speed only gets me slightly brighter pictures. I understand this is most likely caused by some incompatibility with the lens and camera but I want to know if there's anything I can do to at least brighten the photos or change some settings around

Vignette problem on my Nikon D7000?

We had a pictorial at a studio yesterday. I used my Nikon D7000 and my Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens. At first it was fine but then the vignette slowly appeared on the side. We used flash trigger in the studio and set my white balance at 'flash'.

I don't know what's wrong. Is it the lens or my camera? Or probably just my settings?

Which fisheye lens is best for my camera?

Recently Purchased a Sony NEX FS-100 camera for use with my filming but I'm a little inexperienced with the riff-raff and technicalities of all of the lens qualities and such that comes with it all. Basically, I've got a 77mm AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm 1.4G Lens that I'm going to attach onto the Sony with an adapter. I'm simply looking for a fisheye lens to slot onto that but I can't seem to find one anywhere without it saying 'make sure it fits with this', and do you have the 'so-and-so' to go with it or 'you can't have "this" without "this"!', it all seems a bit of a struggle for such a simple request!

Price isn't much of an issue, though I've seen fisheye's reach as high as ร‚£1400 which is just ridiculous. Obviously, cheapest is best for me - I've seen them go for as low as ร‚£20 for the quality I'm looking for (but that goes back to the first paragraph. Apparently this particular one wouldn't fit my lens.) - as long as it has the 'fisheye' look, that's all I care about for now. Qualities and preferences will come later when I'm a little more experienced!

Which digital slr camera do I need?

I'm buying a new digital slr camera for taking high resolution photos(and some video), I'm looking at a Nikon or a sony but I'm open to suggestions. I think I want a full frame camera, big image sensor, wifi, good burst shots, high resolution. I need to be able to get it into venues without needing a license/pass(this is optional if it will dramatically affect photo quality). I will be taking pics at sporting events, outdoor music festivals, live music in dark bars, car shows, nature/animals, & random local events. Here's my questions:

Should I buy a kit with frame and 2 basic lenses, or just buy a frame & add lenses custom for my needs?

Obvious next questions: which frame & what lenses?

Do I need an external flash? Which one?

Am I overlooking anything? Affordability is always a plus but I want a camera that will be relevant for a long time.

Nikon D7000 Holding down shutter won't autofocus?

I just bought the Nikon D7000 as my first DSLR camera. I'm extremely new to this and have been reading through the manual/youtubing videos and trying to learn all of it's functions. How To Make My Instagram Like My Tumblr Feed?

I'm 14, I have an iPhone 4s (the lighting sucks) and a Nikon D70, Which is too big to bring everywhere.

I want to make My Instagram look neat and organized and hipster but I don't want like a grunge or pale account, i just want it no filter, but good pictures
EG: @joannakuchta, @elizabethjanebishop, @cigarvette and @aliencreature
Their pictures look like they're from Tumblr, yet it's their own. I want that!

Do any of you know what type of adjustments or filter that can help me achieve this kind of feed? I know you need good lighting and a good set of colours to try to maintain.

I want my Instagram to show that I have a good life, lots of fun, such as travelling, food, fashion, music and art etc.: I'm good with food. My style is not completely off the rails like joanna, but its a decent, not much hipster tho, I have talent in piano and classic music, but my music taste is pretty much like arctic monkeys, Lana, Marina, The 1975 etcetc so hipster, and i have good art skills.

Can anyone give me some advice and what to do with my pictures to make it look like them? This would save my life haha

THANKS

Why does the cost of camera, or the type of camera matter?

I use the Nikon D3100 myself, but some people I know use the things like the 60D canon, and more fancier cameras like the D7100. But the quality of some of the cheap camera's and expensive lense combo are doing very well. So, why is it that the more expensive camera's seem to matter at all, as long the quality is still great? I just really love my D3100, because it's small and easy to carry around, and it produces great quality picks. Wouldn't it seem that the bigger camera's are for more of fast speeds and fancy model shoots?
