Hi, looking at a nikon d5000, but the flash doesn't work. I don't ever really use the flash, but occassionaly i like to mess around with it,
Is there any smallflashes i can fit in the hot shoe of the nikon d5000 that will equal the same effect of the regular flash built in? I don't really fancy having one of those big battery powered things… just a small flash light, if that is possible?

Which camera should we choose?
We are confused between the Nikon L810 and the L310.
I prefer the L810 while my Dad says we'll go with L310.
Requirements:- Family functions photographs(indoors), small trip photos, and a yearly big trip which includes sightseeing etc.
Which one should we buy between these two? If you have either please share your experience.

Critically confused in buying a DSLR.!
I've always had interest in photography since the days of the chemical photography. I had film camera before I moved to a point and shoot camera. The P&S served me well for about 4 years. I usually take pictures of events, weddings and college. For video I use my cellphone with 720p video. For the passed year I was constantly trying to achieve things and picture quality that a point and shoot camera is unable to have such as low light photography, bokeh, complete control on every setting of the camera and some casual astrophotography so I've finally decided that it's time to move to a DSLR.
These are the three models that I'm currently considering in my price range:
1. Nikon D5100 w/ 18-55mm lens for Rs.54, 000 (~$550)
2.Canon 600D T3i w/ 18-55mm lens for Rs.57, 000 (~$580)
3.Canon 650D T4i w/ 18-55mm lens for Rs.64, 000 (~$650)
Whatever camera I'll buy I would be buying a 50mm 1.8 lens also and I know the importance of lenses so definitely I'll be investing a lot in lenses after I buy a body.
The problem is that I'm a hell lot of confused between D5100 and T3i/T4i. One of my friend owns a D3200 so I've a rough idea about what D5100 would be like.
1. From Dxomark the image quality of D5100 is significantly better than T3i and T4i and same is the case with the Low light performance with D5100 noticeably better than T3i and T4i (at least that's what dxomark says). This makes me bend towards Nikon
2.As stated earlier I'll be doing some astrophotography(especially capturing Milky Way) as well but I've heard about the star eater effect in the Nikon cameras so when it seems that the D5100 will remove heavenly bodies from the photo and so it is a no for astrophotography this bends me towards Canons.
3.I do a little bit of videography as well I would have loved to see Digital Zoom, the manual control over exposure and aperture and stills while making videos on the D5100.So the Canons are better for video so this also bends me a little bit towards canon but not too much because after all my main focus and main usage would be getting excellent still image quality.
4.When considering Canon once again I become confuse between T3i and T4i. According to dxomark the still image quality of T4i is lesser than T3i. This irony makes me quite confused. Plus although video is improved in the T4i with auto focus along some other very nice features yet still I become unable to comprehend that why did Canon drop the digital zoom in video in the T4i.
So I need some great help regarding this labyrinthian decision that will affect me.
Once I buy a body I'll be unable to buy another for at least good 4-5 years so I can wait for some more time while collecting some more bucks and buy any of these:
Nikon D5200 w/ 18-55mm lens Rs.75, 000(~$760)
or
Canon T5i
5.Is it worth waiting a little more and buying any of these more better bodies?
6. If I wait then what will be eventually better for my time type of work among these?
7. And will the T5i be any better than the T4i and T3i regarding still image quality?
Please answer and help.

Added (1). Mr hjbjhbj the prices you told me were in Indian Rupees while my prices are correct and in Pakistani Rupees. You sound like a fan boy. Definitely I don't expect much from kit lens. Generally maybe lens of Canon would be better than Nikkor as you are saying but the fact is that the 50mm 1.8D nikkor is better than canon 50mm 1.8 lens because it produces more softer and circular bokeh whereas the bokeh patterns of canon 50mm 1.8 are like pentagrams that look ugly to me.

What lens can I use with Nikon f80 and Nikon d3200?
I'm looking for a lens that is compatible with both as my mum wants to get me a birthday preset, but I don't know if I can get one that will work with both? I'd like a 35mm or 24mm, most definitely a prime lens. Will the formatting be wrong even thoug the lens will technically fit the body? Is there a lens that could work on both? I don't mind having to use manual focus!

Cracked NIkon D3100 body - Repair or replace?
In a moment of stupidity, our NIkon D3100 (about 5 months old) was dropped and landed on a concrete floor. The camera is completely still functional. There is however a crack near the battery compartment that exposes the inside. The piece that flew off is missing. Nikon's warranty will not cover this. Should we get it fixed? Patch it up with a body case? How much would a repair cost?
