Lens hood for studio work? also what lens to use?

Looking for quick responses please
I have a studio shoot tonight (my first one) and without looking a wally wanted to know if I need a lens hood? If its not completely necessary then I will order online and save £15… if I definitely need it ill have to go jessops now and pay alot more. This is an amatuer shoot so I wont be selling any of the photos… the model is professional though.
I think the lighting will be… light over the top of the model and one at the bottom.she will be on little platform.

Also, I have a nikon 18-55mm kit lens and a nikon 18-200mm vr2… which one would be best to use?

How to get that movie look?

I have brought this camera ( nikon d3100 ) and I don't know how to get that movie look in my videos. I know it depends on things like lightening etc so I want to know does it also depends on the lens. I have seen commercials recordings using such a cam. If yes I want to know what kind of a lens should I use ( kindly specify the lens size ) and thank you much in.

What's the problem? Nikon D3100?

I bought this DSLR around half year ago, and that time just probably wanted to take photographs for college assignments.but for this semester, videography subject was included. Which i found out that everytime i record with my NIKON D3100, its has a lot of NOISE whenever i activated live view or even recording, my setting was:

ISO= 100 (low and still alot noise, really no idea)
aperture = F5.6 (i think this was not affect by the way)
shutter S = 1/50
resolution = 1280 720 30fps / 25fps
and manual exposure, class 10 8gb sd card

so any other problem which i didnt or forgot to change? THE NOISE was so disturb and i really need help for this cause my assignment gonna delay if this doesnt solve
Added (1). Yup, its always activated, i didnt off before, and never
Added (2). Yea… ISO 100 for pretty sure, and i had try 200 or even 400 but its still the same, noise argh…

Nikon D3100 stops taking pictures long exposure?

I am taking 30 second exposures of star trails with a nikon shutter wire release.It will take the 30 second pictures over and over but, I come back after 3 hours and the camera stopped taking pictures after about an hour.Is there a setting I can change to fix this?
Added (1). Battery works fine.

What are my best options! HELP!

I am a beginner photographer and have a recently purchased Nikon D5100. I bought the kit lens (18-55mm) with it as well.

I am helping a friend out with some portraits. They know I'm a beginner and aren't expecting unbelievable quality, nonetheless, I myself want decent quality photos.

Like stated, the only lens I own is a 18-55mm.So what are the best settings and options for setting up my camera for single portraits of people and a few group shots? I am going to say mainly outdoors for this situation.
So how should I set up my camera?

Is there any video editing software not compatible with a Nikon camera?

Im thinking of getting the Nikon D5100 as my first DSLR camera to do my film and media AS level work on, because the cameras in my college aren't brilliant.My first piece is for Film Studies and needs doing in December, I have to create a film. However we have to do the editing in college after Christmas.So before I go buying the camera I have to make sure it works with all types of editing software (so I can edit at home as well as in college, for when I make my new YouTube videos) so is there any out there, that are not able to work for Nikon cameras?

I can't edit NEF files with ViewNX 2?

I'm trying to edit Nikon RAW (.nef) files with ViewNX2.
I have an image selected with the program with the edit feature. The Adjustments tab on the side of the image has all the options greyed out, and I can't make any adjustments. For example, the white balance, exposure, sharpness, and etc, sliders are all greyed out and I can't change them.

How can I fix this?
If not, is there another program that can edit.nef files much better than ViewNX2?
