Lens hood: which lens hood can be used and what are the pros and cons?

Hello people,

I am having a nikon D3000 with 18-55mm lens kit. I want to buy a lens hood but i have a very little idea about it.

So my questions is as follows.

1. Which lens hood is better the conical petal shaped or the circular lens hood

2. What is the difference in image when used with these two lens hoods

3. What are the pro and cons of these two lens hood

4. Can I invest in one lens hood to fit these kinds of lens AF-S nikkor 50mm f/1.4g and AF-S DX Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G VR

5. (most important) what is it that we have to look when we purchase a lens hood?

Thank you,

Sid

P.S Please be specific and no one liners…

6.5 Creedmoor or a 22-250?

Looking to get a new rifle. As the title might have indicated I am between a 6.5 Creedmoor or a 22-250. The Creedmoor is less expensive but the Nikon 3x9 on it is unacceptable but I have more use for a Creedmoor. On the other side. 22-250 is cheap to shoot, it will help me learn how to compensate for wind, and the glass is of better quality and magnification but I really do not have a need for the caliber. It's too big for turkey, in my opinion its too small for deer, and in eastern South Dakota there is not much for Varmint hunting without driving 3 or 4 hours. Essentially, one will be more useful but requires upgrades first, the other is cheap to shoot and can make me a better shooter.

How to connect your camera screen to your laptop?

By this I mean how would you be able to see what you're recording if you're recording yourself. I'm getting the Nikon 5300 pretty soon and I was wondering how would I be able to see myself when I'm recording myself. I've always wanted to make silly videos with friends or mini movies just for the fun of it but I'm not sure how I would set it up so that I could see what I was recording while the camera screen faces away from me. Now I've heard of external screens though those can be expensive. Are there computer programs to stream what your recording onto your computer so you can see yourself? Thanks in advance!

Cleaning an old camera battery compartment?

I found an old 35mm Nikon camera. I opened the battery compartment (whatever it's called) and the batteries inside were covered with brown/white crusty stuff. I took out the batteries and cleaned it up. There are still small amounts of white residue inside, but is it safe to put in new batteries now?
