Nikon D3100: how to save setting in scene modes?

Hello,

I have got a Nikon D3100 and I cant seem to figure how to save and keep settings I make in those default scene modes such as landscape or portrait. The greatest nuisance is I set a certain AF area mode (viewfinder) but after turning the menu knob to different mode it returns to its original setting. Could anyone please advise me on how to save those settings? It wouldnt bother me much if the multiple point area / automatic focus area always didnt come back in the landscape mode. I want to shoot with single point AF when snap mountains for instance.

thanks a lot.

jirikoo

Does the Nikon D3100 camera have good video quality?

My parents recently got me a Nikon D3100 so I can start taking pictures and recordeding things. I've taken pictures and I'm getting better everyday, but I have yet to try the video option on the camera and I'm really wanting to. I'm just wondering is the video quality decent, good, great even? (Don't really care about the sound quality yet) I'm wanting to get into cinematic videos of cities, lakes, cars wildlife and things like that, mostly outside stuff. I'm wanting to document this cinematography on YouTube so I want the quality to be good for the viewers. I saw a video on the Nikon D3100 and the person in the video said it would be best to buy a better lens for the camera other than the one it came with, which really scares me because I don't have any money really, especially to spend on an expensive item like such. If you have ANY advice on how to make good to great quality videos on this camera (using the lens the camera came with) please let me know! And if you have any idea of what to put the settings on to make great quality videos let me know that as well!

How to take pictures with blurry backgrounds on nikon d90?

I use nikon D90 with the kit lens (18-105)
and when I use manual mode and set the F stop to 3.5 (the lowest it can go) it doesn't make a difference to the focus of the background, as to when the F stop is a higher number.

what settings do i need to use so the background is more out of focus, or do i simply need to buy a 50mm lens?

New glasses causing serious issues?

I've had my new glasses for roughly a week. I hate them! Instantly, when I put them on things were blurry. I told the girl right then I couldn't see too well. But of course I got the "it's a new script and it takes time to get used to" speech. After an hour of use that same day, I got a killer headache and so dizzy I had to take them off and put my old ones back on. I started getting bad anxiety-sweating, and crying because I was frustrated that I couldn't see well. I went back to the place I had the exam and they checked the prescription to make sure it matched the lens, it did. And again, I got told I have to give them time. So the following morning I woke up thinking I was going to wear them and after a couple hours they came off. I noticed things were blurry mostly out the right eye when I covered the left. I called back my doctor for a prescription recheck and yesterday he said he was getting a different prescription read than before. He said he may use my old script just make it a little stronger. But after further investigation at my eyes he said I had extreme dry eye which could be why my new prescription isn't working out so well. He told me to try eye drops for a week and if things still suck to come back and he'd adjust the prescription. So i've been wearing my new glasses for 8 hours now and I still get a massive headache within minutes after they are on, my eyes feel strained and I immediately feel exhausted. The floor looks uneven and objects look swerved.
Added (1). … This is all mostly with the right lens still. I have noticed when I am outside I can see things bright/clear as day but inside everything is blurry/fuzzy and weird. While on the computer the letters are blending together same while reading a book or magazine. While looking around the room many objects have a "fishbowl" effect as it's called. I seriously don't feel like I can last a whole week. I'd rather go blind with no glasses than wear these right now.
Added (2). So idk if it's the lens that's the issue. It's a new lens for me nikon polycarb sv. It's supposed to be a better lens but everything is so distorted, even though their supposed to cause less distortion. It's a rectangular lens with thick plastic sides. The doctor said these ones may just be too strong for me and I may be better off with a plain poly carb lens like what's in my old frame. So idk, I just know I can't take it much anymore.
