How to do long exposure photography on a Nikon D5000?

I just decided to start doing photography, I know nothing about it but the type of photography that really caught my attention is the Long Exposure Photography. I got myself a Nikon D5000 and I'd like to know how to achieve a 30 second exposure night shot (which I believe is the one that's possible without having a tripod or a remote control - a hard surface and my finger is enough). This is what I have in mind to photograph:
-Buildings
-Bridges
-Stars
-Moonrise
-Sunset
Anything in dark conditions preferably, although I wouldn't mind doing day long exposure, if it's possible. Any answer is much appreciated, thank you in advance!

Nikon lens problems.?

In the summer I was planning on buying a d600, and I was wondering if the lenses required for that are any different to that of a d3200 or something for example? Does the lens have to be a certain type or something? Thanks.

Other DSLRs vs Nikon D3200?

I Have Been Looking For A Beginner Level DSLR For Around The $500 Mark. I Have Looked At The Canon 550d, Nikon d5100, Canon 600d, And Some Others. But For Some Reason The Nikon d3200 Has Caught My Eye.It's Probobly The 24mp. I Was Wondering If Someone Could Help Me Compare This Camera To Say The t3i.In Terms Of Specs. Burst Rate, Shutter Speed, Outlets etc. I've Been Researching Into This Alot. I Want The Camera For Skateboarding Photograghy And Videography If That Helps With Suggestions For Other Cameras. Please Don't Critisize My Capitalization For I Know It's Incorrect.It's Just That This Is The Intenet.

Cameras with live view similar to Canon rebel t3i t4i?

Canon rebel is a camera with live view. Live view is when you can flip the screen of a camera to face you so you can see you self record a video or take a picture.Do any one know any other camera with the live view feature? I know Nikon d5100 has one

New Nikon D3100, Blurry pics. Help!

I just purchased a Nikon D3100 camera and being a newbie with dslr I am totally lost. When I tried taking a picture (on auto) it was blurry. Then I tried all other settings and the same thing happened. Anybody know why, what can I do to fix it or if I am the problem?

Nikon D4 versus Nikon D3S?

I am an amateur photographer slowly starting to get more business. I do not know a lot about the technical aspect of photography to be honest, but I am confident to say I can get some pretty great shots. I try to do a little bit of everything to get more experience. I am in need of a new camera, I have a Nikon D70, which I got when I was around 11, and am now 20. I have no clue how to decide on what to buy. I love my camera, but it is time for an upgrade. Any help, or insight is appreciated.

Hello, I'm just about to buy my new camera, but I cannot deside which of the 3 I should buy.
I will first tell you what I am looking for…

1.People friendly camera. I don't like complicated tecnology!
2.very clear pictures daytime and night
3.No blurrrs!!!
4.I am starting to get into real estate photo, so I want something that can handle a good long range. Close up shots as well as distance.

Now, what do you think is the best??? Here are the choices… Nikon-D3200 24.2////Nikon D-500///Canon EOS 60D. Thank you. I will probably buy the one you choose by saturday. God bless!
