Do you need to have an expensive camera for photography class?

I'm thinking about taking photography class in college. If anyone is already taking some form of photography classes in coege, can you tell me how it is? Is it fun? And most of all, do I need those expensive cameras like a nikon or something?

My Canon powershot SX240 hs has corrupted an old SD card?

I wanted to see how the files of an old 256MB SD looked on my new bright, crisp screen powershot. Evertyhing looked fine but then a memory card error message appeared, so removed it an replaced in the old Nikon that had taken the shots - now getting message memory card not formatted message on the Nikon.
Anyone any ideas what might have happened and what are the chances of me recovering the files?

To make matters worse my laptop is being repaired at the moment, so I cant do much research on line.
Would the camera shot be able to help?

Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 compatibility with nikon d5100/5200?

I want to buy a a dslr camera. I have searched in the net and found nikon d5100/5200 can be a good one to buy. Now I find some images of Tamron 17-50 mm f-2.8, which are really very nice to see. Now if it may have a auto focusing problem in d5100/5200 becz they dont have in built motor. But still if I want to buy the tamron 17-50 for d5100 or d5200 then how it will be comfortable? If someone has used that particular lense with d5100, can please tell me that how much one has to face difficulty in focusing something and how is the overall experience of d5100 and tamron 17-50 mm? Is it worth to buy?

I'm on a tight budget($175) and want to get the best value on a digital camera… notice one have a 3 year warranty on it but the other doesn't… which is the best value for the price?

How to use my Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight on my Nikon D3000 camera?

I am new to flash photography and I just bought a Nikon SB-700 AF Speedlight. I have a Nikon D3000 camera and I am not sure how to sync them both. I don't want to use my cameras internal flash to trigger my SB-700. How do use my SB-700 without using my pop up flash.

Rifle combo for deer through moose?

Cartridges- 308 win, 30-06, 300 win mag, 7mm rem mag
Game- deer, elk, moose and maybe small buffalo (bison)
Rifle- ruger, savage, howa, weatherby, Remington. Under $500
Scope- Nikon, bushnell, leupold. Under $200
Recoil isn't a problem but I need cheap ammo and a accurate rifle.
Better if semi auto
Leaning towards 30-06
All game under 400 yards

DSLR Video time limits?

Im still looking for a entry level dslr that will shoot in full1080p. I need one that doesn't have a limit on filming at one time? Well not unlimited but longer than say 15 mins. I was looking a nikon one but it only shoots 10min video at i time and i would need it to be longer than that? Any suggestions for cameras that will do this? preferably within the lower price range as i don't have thousands to spend on cameras !
