I know the Canon 5D mark III is supposed to be the best camera out there and the Nikon D800 almost matches it, but I don't have 3000 dollars to spend.
So on a smaller, scale say 600-700 dollars,
would you say that the Nikon d3500 or the Canon T3 is better?
I like the 7- 9-blade diaphragm that Nikon offers opposed to the 6- 8- of Canon. But I hear that Nikon has too much magenta in their resolutions or too much yellow in the LCD.
Which has more aperture versatility and accurate shutter speed?
For outdoor/landscape, night, and long exposure photography, and natural looking portraits, which brand is better?
Any recommendations for models by each brand? Like, is it really worth it to get the T3i for such and such more dollars instead of the T3?
Thanks

Nikon DSLR cameras is there a manufacter seal?
I bought a brand new expensive Nikon DSLR camera today. But the big box had no protective seal.
The contents inside was wrapped in transparent small bags, open cardboard and open wrapping, but again these were not sealed.
Seems a bit odd to me as other expensive electricals half this price are always boxed/wrapped up in sealed packaging.
Just wandering is this normal for Nikon to sell brand new DSLR cameras without any protective seal?

White balance on NikonD40?
I have a friend who has a Nikon D40. He is trying to take pictures of his reef aquarium, but everything is coming out really blue! I've looked into this, and it seems like the problem is that he needs to adjust his "white balance," but I'm having trouble explaining it to him without being there. He tried to adjust his white balance by taping a piece of paper to the aquarium and taking a picture, and it was saying, "not enough light." What can I do to help him with this problem?
Cheers, and thanks in advance.

How to see the exposure meter on the Nikon D5100 in live view?
I can it see it through the view finder and the information screen, but I don't see it in live view. I'm using manual mode.
These aren't my pictures, but this is where I find the exposure meters:

I want to be able to see it on the LCD screen while focusing my camera in live view:
