Good camera to start with?

I'm currently using a canon powershot S3 IS and it's nice but I have to share it with my mother. While she doesn't use it as much as I do it'd be nice to have my own camera. I've got a fair amount of experience with this camera so I think I might able to handle something more advanced. Any suggestions under $700, preferably either canon or nikon?

How to turn NEF files into JPEG files?

I have a D3100 Nikon camera that I just got and had taken almost 900 pictures on the memory card that I have and downloaded them all onto my computer. I'm trying to upload them to walgreens.com but it wont upload the NEF filed pictures. How do I change the format of these NEF files into JPEG files? It seems like the NEF files are like 4 times bigger than the JPEG ones and I just don't get it.It's getting quite frustrating.

Is the Canon 7D a big enough upgrade from the Nikon D90?

I just got my D90 almost 6 months ago, but now this amazing offer for a 7D comes along. I'm not sold on either Nikon or Canon… I have honestly never tried out a Canon, but I kept thinking maybe the next time I ungraded it would be a Canon. Sooooo, what I'm wondering is, is it worth it to upgrade to the 7D, or should I wait a few years, then upgrade to say, the Canon EOS-1D X, or something of the sort?

Transferring DSLR memory card to another?

From my friend's SD card, I transferred our school project's videos and photos to my own SD card, it was successfully copied but when I inserted my memory card back to my Canon DSLR and scanned the files, only the photos can be seen not the videos. Though when I connect the memory card to the computer I can see the videos saved in the SD card.

What can I do? I need to have a copy of the videos, I should be able to watch the videos in my camera.

P.S
If this helps, my friend owns a Nikon and I own a Canon, I transferred the files from her Nikon's memory card to my Canon's.

What film should i use for a nikon fm10?

Planning on getting this camera soon and I want a color film, but i don't really know where to start. Instead of just naming a type could you link me to a good one on a website or something please.
