Portrait work with D3000, what lens/settings would work best?

I'm interested in doing portrait work with my D3000 Nikon. I have the 55mm lens and the 55-200mm lens, which is what I shoot with most the time. Looking to see what lens would work best for portraits. Also Im learning my camera, what settings would produce crisp, clean photos?

Which lens is best for Headshots?

I have a Nikon D3100. I would like some recommendation for a good headshot lens. I already have the standard 55 mm that came with the camera and a 50 mm 1.4 g. Will one of the two lens works?

Shooting Video with Nikon D5000 Shot length help?

I got the Nikon D5000 to do short films etc on a low budget, as it was quite a cheap decent camera, the one thing that Im now worrying over is the 5 minute limit when recording 720p, now i know on lower settings it has a 20 minute limit, but i want to shoot 720p. The main issue are shot lengths, such as when filming a relatively long dialogue scene from one angle, what if the limit suddenly cuts the recording? Anyone have any suggestions how to overcome this?
Added (1). I am happy shooting in lower resolutions, but if theres a way to help overcome the limit it would be helpful.

Trying to pick a dslr, Nikon or Canon?

I'm going to use the camera for sports, low light, and daily. But most likely daily. A good sensor size would be nice but it's not really necessary. Burst mode, maximum shutter speed- not that much, and dust protection are some of the extras.
