… because I am looking to buy a D5100 with live view and 16.something mega pixels, yet the 3200 has 24.7 mega pixels! would I be getting a better deal for the 3200 if I amm looking for sharpness, and higher ISO ?

'Subject is too dark, cannot adjust exposure' Nikon D5100 error message?
My brother recently bought the Nikon D5100 DSLR. Everything seems to be fine with it, except taking photos indoors (even with the light on and curtains wide open in the day) seems to be a problem unless you set the ISO to around 800 and have maximum aperture width and a slow shutter speed. OR alternatively just use the flash with everything else on whatever settings you want.
An alternate message if you adjust the settings to cope with low-light conditions is 'lighting is poor, flash recommended'. Now this environment in a well-lit room doesn't seem to me to be poorly-lit.Is this normal for a DSLR to cope with lighting like this indoors? He hasn't told me if he encounters a similar problem with outdoor shots yet, however. We're quite new to DSLRS (we have read the manuals etc.though).

What is the lens filter thread of a Nikon D5100, 18-55 VR Kit lens?
And how does one check the lens filter thread? I need to buy some filters for my lens and wanted to confirm they'd be compatible before I bought them.

Which lenses and camera for short films?
I was just wondering which lenses and camera should I get, as im stuck choosing them for making short films, music videos, may be you could help.
Now I have nikkor 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, Carl zeiss 50mm 1.4
I probably will get cropped sensor camera as its so cheap - 600D (altho Im hesitating between 5d ii, but I will get camera man when filming and they normally have there own cameras, so not sure… )
And was thinking of getting 21mm, 35mm Carl Zeiss ZF lenses, have them cine modified, but they are a bit expensive, for getting them I have to "sell my kidneys"
Is it actually ok to shoot 1 film with vintage nikon+carl zeiss mixed? Like wide angle shots all with nikkon and close ups with zeiss. Zeiss has more cine look, wich Im after, I do not want to have video look, at all!!!
Shell I just get 28mm to my 50mm zeiss and 20mm nikkor and it will cover pretty much, but Im not sure if its ok mixing them in 1 project.

Is Nikon AF-D 24-120mm a good lens for Nikon DX?
I am looking for new DSLR - currently shoot film & good P&S (and have been agonising over DSLR choice for too long). I have several manual Nikon lenses and a Nikon 24-120mm AF-D - no other AF lenses. What are opinions on this AF-D lens - should it influence my choice of DSLR? I am thinking of D7000 (esp as price dropping) - it this an efficient lens on this camera or should I start from scratch with new Nikon (and, eg Nikon 18-200) or alternative system. If Nikon I would probably also buy a 35mm f1.8 to use with the D7000. Many thanks !!!

How do I get my DSLR (Nikon d3100) to focus when filming myself?
I set up my camera on a tripod and tried filming myself (beauty guru for YouTube) but when I bring objects up close to the camera to show the viewers it doesn't focus on the objects! How do I get it to focus without having to focus it manually because I am filming myself??? Are there special settings? Thanks!
