Is the Nikon D5300 worth it?

Hello there!

I've been thinking about upgrading from the D5100 to a better camera, and I was looking at the Canon 60D for awhile but realized it would be more of a downgrade. Now my eyes are turned to the D5300, plus I have Nikon lens already so that saves me some money by buying just the body, and I was wondering if it was worth the upgrade. I am not professional and by no means am trying to be, however I do like taking great photos(I sell cameras for a living so I strive for quality) and I love taking videos for fun(Just with the family or something, nothing serious, but do like nice quality none the less).

The things I don't like about my camera that the D5300 improves…
-Poor video quality, and I understand that was one big upgrade to the D5200/D5300 from the D5100
-Can't crop my photos that much without causing grainy images(Due to only 16 megapixels I imagine).

Things I love about my D5100 that the D5300 kept…
-Tilt LCD Screen
-No lock on the Camera's Mode Dial

I haven't played with the D5300 that much at work, though I plan to go into the store and make sure it feels good in my hands.

Basically I am just wondering if the differences in quality are over exaggerated from the reviews I've read, or if they have improved significantly(Video, Ability to crop more thanks to the 24 megapixels, etc.).

Also if anyone has any other suggestions for a camera, please recommend no matter the brand! I love taking action shots, up close shots, inside with dim lighting normally, and outside ranging anywhere from the bright afternoon to dusk, so anything that fits that criteria! I normally use manual mode and manual focus and adjust my settings as I see fit.

Again, I'm willing to pay for quality, but nothing over $1000, and just want to know if this would be a good upgrade, or if there is something else I should be looking at.

How durable are DSLR SD card slots? - 1

one of the reasons i am considering buying an eye fi card is not having to keep taking it out over and over again from my D7100 and wear it down

Are all nikon lenses interchangeable?

I have a Nikon L320 and am looking for a fish eye lens to buy for it but they all say for d5100, d3100, etc. Will they still fit on my camera?

Lenses for Nikon D7100?

I recently got a nikon D7100 body and purchased a 50mm lens but I would like to get another lens now. I would like one preferably with zoom but maybe not as far as a telephoto. I'd like to keep it in the low hundreds. What would you guys recommend?

I've downloaded the program that came with my d3200 and I'm not completely understand in it. There's not a how to use. Any help would be great. Also since I've downloaded the viewnx2 my photos won't upload to my iPhoto?

I'm very disappointed at Nikon… Read description?

I bought a Nikon D5100 a year ago and the warranty expired on february, 2014.
Now I'm getting the "Press shutter release button again" error and I will have to send it to repair. It's not going to be cheap.
It's unbelievable that it happened just when the warranty expired. I had an old Fuji for 4 years and it never gave me headache.
I'm dumping Nikon and buying a Canon.
Canon users, what model should I get?
I don't know much about the brand, I thought Nikon was better.

Is it alright to use this scope on my savage axis 223?

I found a great deal on a nikon p-223 bdc 600 scope. Is this scope designed for use on a non ar platform?

If you were to mount this scope on your savage axis 223, would you also buy a scope mount rail that had 0 or 20 moa?

Ill be shooting probably no more than 300 yards.

Opinions on new lens for Nikon d3000?

I have had my Nikon d3000 for a few years now, I am ready for an upgrade (I would like to add video capabilities and extra features) but my wallet does not agree that I am ready to change the body.

What lenses would be a good option for me to add on to further the quality of my photographs, without breaking the bank by upgrading my body + lens.

DSLR microphone compatibility?

Sony ECM-CS3 - will it work with a Nikon D7000 DSLR?

I'm an audio newb. Does it matter what microphone I use for a DSLR? I don't have a zoom or any external audio source, so I'm slightly worried the mic may not work directly with the camera.
