Photographers! How do you handle dramatic light differences?

I shoot a lot of nature / landscape scenes where you have a bright sky, even on cloudy days, compared to a relatively dark target and often one gets blown out
i sometimes use in camera hdr but Nikon, for whatever reason, makes you revert to jpg to do so which can be a hassle, well not a hassle (I'm showing my lazy side lol )
any tips on how to get both light and dark targets without one getting blown out?
for exmaple: the attached pic, i handled as well as i could, but i would have liked the trees on the far right to be a bit brighter. Outside of using software or hdr, any tips?Photographers How do you handle dramatic light differences - 1

Interfit ex300 is it worth it?

I was wondering about this kit? I have never used strobes before this is a first. I'm familiar with continuous lighting thats what I have. I'm looking to buy this kit.http://www.amazon.com/Interfit-EX300-Softbox-Umbrella-Heads/dp/tech-data/B002X6ZFEA/ref=de_a_smtd I k=know it's on amazon and you get what you pay for.but, I actually went into the camera exchange here in houston and they told me this was the best kit to buy a downgrade from the pro but still great for portraits. Portraits is mainly what I do Senior, family, maternity, new born. I have a fairly good dbusiness base where I'm from, and i'm looking to advnce to something a little more from continuous lighting.basically I just want user opinion is this a good buy or a wast of money? If you have this set would you mind posting some shots that you have done so I may get a feel for what I can do., I shoot with a Nikon D7000 which I LOVE! :) p.s. This is the SAME kit they were trying to sell me in the store, but about 200 dollars cheaper then what they were trying to sell me. I'm a little hesitant to buy from amazon but hey if I can save 200 dollars then why nor? :}

How to get this effect while filming?

I'm filming something for coursework in school, and i want to get an eerie feeling via colours. I want to get a dull/bluey colour on the film. Is there anyway to do this with the settings on my camera? I'm filming with a Nikon D5100.

I hope i'm getting the message across, i'm not really sure how to articulate it.

Added (1). Yeah sorry, I meant the SB-800, The SU-800 is a UV relote that triggers two side flashes that are bought separately

Should an amateur photographer sell their photos?

I've begun to take photos on a camera my dad had, I think it's a Nikon D5200.
I've managed to take some good ones, which look pretty cool, and people have complimented me on them. Should I sell these photos as they are beginner ones for me? Where should I sell them? If not, why?
I'm rather clueless on this type of stuff, thanks for every good answer!

Can and sd card break a Camera's sd card slot?

I've recently baught an 8 GB SanDisk sd card and it worked in both my friend's Nikon and my school's Canon cameras, but when I tried it at my Canon camera, the card wasn't working. It said my SD card was locked though the switch says otherwise. I've tried multiple cards and they were said to be locked. My camera used to work just a few days ago. Could my new SD card be the problem?
