Advice on cameras for a photojournalist?

I'm a sophomore in college, majoring in photojournalism.My goal is to eventually become a sports photographer and I know I'll need to get like a Nikon D700 one day but right now I can't afford that.So I've been looking at entry-level cameras and I was wondering if a Nikon D5100 would suffice? I'm currently just doing regular photojournalism along with some sports. Can a Nikon D5100 work well out on the field and in the gym? Any recommendations on other cameras in the price range of the D5100? Please help! I'm a struggling college student!

I'm 14 and I need a job?

Hi,
I'm saving up for a camera (Nikon D3100). I'm 14 and I'm not going to allow my parents to pay for it. I need to get myself a little job so that I can start saving up and finally get my dream camera. I volunteer at my stables and work there at the weekend but they don't pay under 16's, so I'm going to need to get myself a week day job. Obviously there's school I need to think about, so I'm going to need a job that doesn't shut its doors at 5.
What kind of jobs could I do?

Tokina 28-70mm at-x pro f2.8 or sigma 18-50mm f2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM?

I am very tempted to sell my Tokina 28-70mm f2.8 lens to get this sigma 18-50mm f2.8-4.5 with Optical Stabilisation. I am using a Nikon D200 and wants to use a lens that is perfect for all around, can you please help me decide? this tokina 28-70mm f2.8 constant is very soft wide open and doesn't have a VR, I am planning to use a lens that is good for portrait (I am wanting to shoot a wedding as well). The reason I am wanting this sigma 18-50mm f2.8-4.5 is because it has Optical Stabilisation and the aperture is better than the kit lens, now can you tell me if I am stupid ever thinking of replacing this lens with this new sigma 18-50mm OS?

I will appreciate any opinions you can provide me. I will decide based on your opinions.
