Is it really necessary to have an i-TTL flash for my Nikon camera?

I am a photo enthusiast and I bought a i-TTL flash (Sigma EF 610 DG ST) recently and have the option of returning it. After using it for two days, I really wonder if I ever need one. Firstly, my house is very brightly lit and I can always use some lamp to highlight my subjects. If things are a bit dark, I could crank up the ISO, use a tripod and decrease the shutter speed etc… Bounce flash is good but I really wonder if it is better to return this and use the money to get a good zoom lens as I always try to use natural lighting if possible. I have a Nikon D3200 with 18-55mm lens and 50mm prime 1.8 lens. I could use this external flash only in TTL mode, full power, 1/16th. There are no other options. I do not have full manual control. The maximum shutter speed I can set is 1/200 I guess and I can't use it in bright sunlight when my subject is having shadows on the face caused by the sun. I have to go for a reflector and I do not know if I can accomplish it with a flash. Moreover, the manual says that I have to use the flash daily in order to maintain capacitor operation. So what do you think I should do? I am confused. I don't use my DSLR everyday.

Sigma lens for Nikon, adaptor, and Sony NEX-5R?

So I got a new lens and the adaptor to connect its alpha-mount to my camera s e-mount. My NEX comes up with an error message about not recognizing the lens when I know everything is connected properly. How can I troubleshoot?

Thanks!

Best portrait bokeh lens for Nikon D7100?

I just upgraded from a D3200 to a D7100 and am trying to figure out a good portrait lens to purchase for it. I have the 55mm prime portrait lens but I feel like I have to back up too far to get a full body shot of my subjects. Weddings especially make this difficult, but I love the quality this type of lens gives me. My current portrait lens is also FX and I"m wanting the DX to get the maximum amount of quality out of my camera. Any recommendations for an inexpensive lens? (less than $400) I thought about the Nikon 35 mm prime lens. With it being shorter I figured I'd be doing less backing up. I'd rather have to move in closer than back up, especially if my space is limited.

Is the Nikon D3300 good for starters?

I'm looking forward the buy the above mentioned beast. My question, however, is it good for people who've never really tried photography? If not, what are some cheaper alternatives that don't differ too much in quality?

Why is nikon d5200 so slow in processing images?

I tried some of the dslrs in the store and was thinking to buy d5200 after reading the reviews and all but why is it so slow in processing the image?
Was it due to the different mode or something or are nikon entry level dslrs just like that?
