I'm going to be treating myself with one this weekend; however, with extensive research I have done, I found that many, many people are talking about a black screen.
They loved & used the camera for months, then all of a sudden, it went black & they had to send it back.It would get fixed but happen again. People are saying that this model is known for that.
I would hate to spend $600 on a camera & for this to happen. Anyone have experience with this? Should I buy it at Target & get an extended warranty protection or go with another camera?

Added (1). I don't think it's a rumor. I got this information from its reviews on multiple websites from people that have actually bought the camera.

Nikon D5100 Sports Mode Problems?

I take pictures of my son's basketball games. The games are indoor and have florescent lights and is very well lit. I haven't had problems until now. I use the Sports mode on my Nikon, and lately it's been taking pictures a little dark with a red hue on either the top or bottom part of the picture. This happens either if I shoot 1 picture or shoot continuously. The only difference is that shooting continuously, the red hue on the picture gets bigger. Does anyone know whats going on with my camera?

What are some specialty lenses for a Nikon D80?

I wanted to surprise my wife who is really into photography with a lens for Christmas. She's not interested in the fish eye lens. What are some other ones I can get her? I have 100 to 200 to spend for one.

Is the Nikon 18-200mm f3.5 VR good for basketball?

I am looking for a good lens for highschool basketball, and I've read that this one isn't very good for highschool gyms. I just wanted some different opinions before I spend 1, 000 dollars plus for an f2.8 lens. I want to buy this lens, but really don't want to be disappointed. Please let me know what lens would be best, if this one isn't good.

NIKON D5100 VIDEO HELP! My video keeps stalling?

I have a Nikon D5100 camera and I used it to record something.everytime I open the video file on my computer it stalls and has short pauses, but on my camera, it looks completely fine. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?

Working a 200-400mm tamronlens on a nikon D5100?

OK, ive got three major questions, i Just got the 200-400mm tamron nikon mount.
A) it says it's a Af on it, but there is no AF switch and it does not Af at all. ???
B) i ve been reading something about a tamron AF adapter, does that mean if i get that it will auto focus the lens when i press the shoot button?
C) the focus is F5.6 to F32 but if it's on anything else then F32 it wont' let me shoot and a screen pops up and says "LOCK LENS APERTURE RING AT MINIMUM APERTURE(LARGEST F/-NUMBER) Why won't it let me shoot on any other f number?
Please get back to me, i really would like to figure this out.
Added (1). THE LENS SAYS AF, THERE IS NO MANUAL OR AF SWITCH ON IT.
I DON'T NEED ASSHOLE ANSWERS SAYING I TRIED TO SAVE MONEY WHEN THE LENS WAS A GIFT. JUST TRYING TO MAKE IT WORK. IF THERES ANY REAL INFO/HELP LET ME KNOW, NOT TELL ME I HAVE AN ENRTY LEVEL CAMERA AND A CHEAP LENS, PHOTOGRAPHY HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY LONGER THEN MOST, WITH PRIZE WINNING PHOTOGRAPHERS FROM WW2 COLD WAR VIETNAM PUBLISHED MAGAZINES AND SO ON.

Tinny Audio on Nikon D800?

ON my Nikon D800, if I record a video and listen to the audio in camera it is fine, however when I take the video and play it in Bridge, Audition, Premiere Pro or even just the standard Windows player the sound is tinny and quiet - what has gone wrong here?

Looking at the waveform in Adobe Audition the peaks are above 6db, and other sounds play at the right volume…

Added (1). Thanks Martin - I agree with you about the quality and I indeed did also record with the H4N by Zoom, however without sound I have no hope of matching up the sound and video. On my other computer eveything is fine and the sound is surprisingly good, why should all break down on my desktop?

So the other day, I was taking pictures of a waterfall when I slipped and fell into the water while I was still holding my Nikon D90. What do I do now! Can it still be saved? I think I should mention that after the DSLR was drenched, the display was still working.Is the body still okay then?
